Xbox Live subs..

Hi All,

Hoping some of you might be able to help me out.

We currently have one XBOX ONE with one live account that has 4 profiles on it. We are going to buy a XBOX ONE X for my son for graduation and was wondering can he still use his gamer profile with my LIVE account on this new XBX system?

Any feedback is welcome.

You should be okay to do this. You will have to setup your profile, the one with the Live account, on his Xbox as well. Your account will be on both. Then set his Xbox to be your HOME Xbox. That way he gets the benefit of your LIVE account when he logs in on his profile AND you can log in on your console on your profile and get access at the same time. Incidentally, any game either of you purchase, he or you will get as well, so you will get two for the price of one.

OK thank you, I appreciate the response. Will setting his XBOX as the Home console have any impact on our current XBOX and playing over live?

It will impact the other profiles on your current Xbox, but not yours. Your Xbox Live profile is designed to follow you to one other Xbox, so that is why it works for you to use yours on your current one while he uses his profile on his Xbox. His Xbox HAS to be the home Xbox though, otherwise he can’t use his profile for Live and would have to log into your account resulting in it logging your profile out on your current Xbox. So, his Xbox will be your home Xbox giving him Live, and your Xbox will be your “guest” Xbox but you can still use Live when you use your profile because of how it is designed.

I almost forgot, setup his profile on the current one and make your current one HIS home Xbox as well. So your profiles will be on both. He will take the Xbox that is your home Xbox, and you will keep the current one set as his home Xbox.

Also, this can be found under general settings in preferences.

OK thanks for the info, greatly appreciated!

This is my set-up currently as well.

Does anyone know if this can work with three Xbox's? I'm asking for when I buy the Series X; I'm thinking about hanging on to my Xbox One X and moving it to the living room, but would still have an S in the playroom for the kids.

Unfortunately, it will not work for three Xbox’s with one Live subscription. You would need to purchase another Live account.

I was afraid of that, though I would love to see them change that policy somehow; or at least discount a second account.

So sounds like this won't be ideal for us since my daughter and my wife also have a profile on my current XBOX.

Second question: Can you transfer a gamertag and friends list to a new XBOX Live Subscription?

What do your wife and daughter use their profiles for?

What do you wish to do with regard to your second question? You can change your gamertag and keep your subscriptions and friends.

Maybe I misunderstood your previous post where you said other gamertags will not work on the second XBOX. I will describe what we currently have set up.

I have an XBOX ONE with 4 gamertags (profiles) on it on one LIVE account. I own the LIVE account. My sons gamertag (profile) is part of this. My hope was he could sign into his gamertag on the new system (XBX) and use it while not affecting our gamertags or profiles in any way.

Hope that makes sense.

It depends on their use. The additional profiles can still play games, Netflix, etc. I don’t believe they would have access to Live multiplayer except on free play weekends though. You and your son would have access to anything either of you purchase. The additional accounts on your current Xbox would have access to anything your son purchases, but not what you purchase because it would not be your home Xbox.

There may be one issue that could come up if you play on pc or a third Xbox one. Say you’re playing on your Xbox but the the account link to gold logs on elsewhere on a pc or third Xbox then you’ll get booted off or won’t have access to games purchased by said account. I had that issue once when my niece visited and want to play Sea of thieves together. But since I had my brothers Xbox set to as home she couldn’t play on my Xbox whilst I logged on to play it on my pc...so I just made my Xbox the home and we sailed away.

I don’t know if it’s still a thing but my niece would play Minecraft on my 360 with no issue when I was logged in (on Xbox one) and online with my account.

Yes, you cannot actively use your profile as a “guest” on two devices at the same time. For that matter, you can’t be logged in to the same profile on two devices at the same time regardless. Your profile on his Xbox, your home Xbox, will be “dormant” while he uses his profile and gets the benefits from yours.

OK thanks guys, I think I've got it. Probably just splurge and get a live account for him.

Just my two cents. If you get him a Live account, I would still use this setup. It would give everyone access to Live and you would get the benefit of game sharing, so any games either of you purchase would be available on both consoles.

As long as you’re not using your account that’s your "Home" console at the same time then you can log into any Xbox anywhere.

Says the region is Brazil.

yeah, I can’t recall exact details but I think I overheard it on a podcast that if you switch your region or use a vpn to enter it it’ll work with your account.

I’m assuming it’s like getting Japanese gold games. I use the Xbox app, just change region and then go to the store and get whatever free game they got that isn’t in US store at that time...sometimes I’ll get lucky by just changing to other countries and they’ll have others.

It's not coming back from Microsoft. It's some third party Insignia effort.

More proof of Sega buyout, we get knuckles

I wish, but you'd get a sonic character whichever color you pick... Pink - Amy, Yellow - Tails, black - Shadow, gold - Sonic, light blue - Chao etc.

But, it would be pretty cool if this really was hints that eventually lead up to them buying sega.
