Xbox One and PS4 will "sell a ton," online hate "needs to go away" Microsoft says

HATE is an addiction. When you actively hate your brain releases Epyphidrine. Religions, governments and corporations are YOUR pushers.

I think it's been much more personal for him, this time around. He's been a primary target. (I know you're implying he's being hypocritical, I just wanted to provide the obvious explanation for "why now").

I understand but he's sort of part of the problem. He's the one tweeting all these MS PR spins "victories" like "fastest selling" and what not before. He could've just posted simple numbers instead of adding fuel to the fire. I don't know, might be just me but it seems like when he starts getting the heat, he tries to fan it down even though he was part of the ones who started the fire in the first place.

I don't remember people wishing Sony to go bankrupt. People really want MS to fail, not just Xbox, but people just hate the entire company.

Let's be honest though, not many are really wishing MS to go bankrupt either. And, yes, people HATED on PS. Enough to launch a crippling attack on the PS network.

However, last gen, the PS brand was indeed the punching bag, and go hate left and right.

As for crying about it, or expecting that it will go away, I hope you don't hear me as doing either of those.
Nah, I mean Major Nelson.
Talking about it is fine, but he didn't really say anything new or profound, or inspiring.

You're right about slowing down the thought-to-publicly-viewable statement part. When I'm on my PC, I belt out more posts, but put less thought in. UVGF runs slow on my phone, so I'm more selective about what I post.

As someone who was vocally disparaging about the always-online aspect of the X1 pre-reversal, I do not have a problem with Playstation Now, nor do I find it hypocritical.
Why? Because I don't really give a s*** about Playstation Now and have no current intention of ever using it (on my non-existant PS4). Whereas I would have some inclination to use my (also non-existant X1).
That's where the always-online issue differs for me.
Translation: Since Sony is doing it, it's O-K. Don't worry honey, I never take console warriors like you, serious, you're so easy to spot. "By their fruits ye shall know them". *LOL*

You reap what you sow. Major should look at some of his own statements since working PR for MS. His hypocrisy is duly noted.

And I do hope he is drawing the distinction between hate and very valid criticism.

It's his job to promote the Xbox and add positive spin to news releases. I challenge you to produce one instance where he has expressed hatred for Sony, Sony fans, or the PlayStation.

Sorry, you seem to be mistaken. I'm hardly a console gamer at all, let alone a warrior. I barely even play console games. More of a handheld, DS type of guy.
Also, rather than jump to conclusions, you might want to find out a little about me, in order to understand my perspective on always-online.

If PS Now is online-only, that wouldn't affect me. I could enjoy PS4 games on the PS4 without even thinking about PS Now. On the other hand, if I bought an X1, under the old online-only policies, I would not have been able to use my console at all. At all. It would literally be a paperweight. So how does MS producing a console that I couldn't physically use whatsoever make me a Sony fanboy?
Anyway, they reversed the X1 policy, so now it's an option for me.

If it's his job, then he should be able to take the heat. This type of tweet was non-existant last gen, why now? It just seems like he's experiencing a relatively larger amount of hate than before and now he's trying to be all like "come on, guys, tone it down now".

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Just do your job and ignore the hate.

No false piety from me. I do try keep my discourse on a higher level, from which I am prone to fall, from time-to-time, never-the-less.

The "crippling" attack on PS was because of sql injection, something an entry level programmer could have prevented.

Even then, once things came back up, people pretty much dropped their Sony hate.

They brought it on themselves. Don't forget MS was riding very high last generation. Odd that MN forgets his petty comments and tweets during the last generation. Seems like he can dish it out, but now that it is coming his way, he cannot take it. Bad form.

Amusing. He's standing up for himself, and responding in a calm adult manner with a passionate plea for civility. Obviously, he's infuriating the haters by not submitting to being a mute punching bag, or decending to their level, and they can't stand it! Gotta love it! *LOL*

Or he could've acted like an adult, ignore the hate and just let his actions do all the talking. Passionate plea for civility? lol, this is the internet, don't take it too seriously ok? You will never get everyone to like you.

Thats easy for someone like yourself to say in your position as your not in front of millions of people and the spotlight isnt on you. However, what makes Major a professional is his ability to keep calm where others would cave in and lose control when being ridiculed by rabid fanboys. That if anything is why he is where he is, and you are where you are.

It takes years and years to develop that kind of self control. When in the spotlight, its literally a discipline in and of it self. Whereas if you dont have the experience and your supposedly a professional (not to mention the face of a juggernaut company like Microsoft) an outburst in the face of immature gamers could cost Microsoft and the Major, a shyte load of money and business.
I'm telling you this from experience. Dont be so quick to hash out how a professional is supposed to do his job if you've never been in that position yourself.

9 out of 10 people are more afraid to speak in front of a large audience than dying. Just FYI.

Yikes! I hope not. That would be boring!

I'm not hashing out what he is or isn't supposed to do. I'm voicing out my opinion of why he is posting this tweet now and not when the other console was getting just as much hate or even more. At the end of the day, it is what it is. When all is fine and dandy in his land, these tweets aren't needed in his perspective apparent from the lack of such tweets in the past. Now when the shoe is on the other foot, gamers need to calm down according to him. Even you should see the hypocrisy in the situation.

Yikes! I hope not. That would be boring!

Okay good, so you disagree with his tweet then. Gamers shouldn't calm down, they need to go even more crazy to create even more chaos, eh?

Was he acting professional when he yanked the mic from Angry Joe's hand during an interview during E3 and had a minor meltdown? Did not look anything like it.

It was a bit of a tense interview, but I definitely wouldn't call that a meltdown.

Props to Angry Joe for asking the hard questions though.

Oh no, I was talking about me! *lol*

Is that all you could come up with? Yep, the guy is human, just like you and me.

I can understand that. I did say it was minor. "Have you seen Titanfall?" "Nuff said." He certainly did not lose it, but he was certainly unnerved.

But absolutely props to Joe. I never heard of him until that incident and you could tell that the poor kid was nervous doing it. He came off looking like the professional there. Absolutely props to him.

"Angry Joe" is a tool and not what I call professional in the least. The fact that he's "angry" is the first clue. However, Major handled the situation and still kept a level head for the most part, in the face of un-professionalism. Or retardedness? Whichever you might prefer.

Yeah, no. Major became unnerved. Joe did not.

More like you clutching at straws and dredging up ancient history, but haters gonna hate.

Six months ago is ancient history? That is some desperate spin.

And hate? Where? Valid criticism isn't hate. Odd observation coming from someone that takes so many personal shots.

Oh, don't take everything on the chin. E3 was a nightmare for Microsoft, and judging Larry for one exasperating vignette is no more valid critique of him, than it would be for you or me. Taking a cheap shot at a guy in a moment of weakness hardly ranks as "valid criticism".

His moment of "weakness" came when he was supposed to be acting like a professional and representing MS at the biggest event of the year for the industry. Let's not try to make it sound like he got ambushed at a remote location -- which would be far more understandable. Odd that you continue to ignore that he took plenty of shots at the other side last generation and that I noted that. You can't gloss over his hypocrisy here. All are valid criticisms no matter the rationalization.
