Xbox One wins early Blackfriday sales battle

No, I'm trying for $500 - but with the looks of it, I'll be lucky to get what I paid for it... might just try to return it.

Also, your searches don't include "PS4" which is more common than "PlayStation 4", and when I do a search with PS4, I see about the same number of them as I see X1's - in your area.

All anecdotal, of course, but it's interesting. I had assumed with the way people talked up demand for the PS4 that I'd be able to get something more than I paid for it, but that's really not happening, it would seem...

Why would you? these aren't the old days where shipments aren't coming in for months at a time.

Also it looks like people on average are making some money on PS4's on ebay while X1's are selling below retail price.

call me crazy but did Sony not sell out of most their PS4 stock? kind of hard to have good sales on black Friday when you have no consoles on the shelf to sell.

Also holy s*** at them gifs that is just crazy. I loved how the workers said f*** this s*** and run away.

No need to post this, just wait the official black friday announcement

Big 3 will talk about it few days later, most likely
Going by the report, I highly doubt Nintendo will talk about their sales, except maybe the blanket statement that it sold better than/within expectation.

Good to see next gen console selling so well. MS does a good job on supplies.

Early data shows Xbox One leading PS4 in Black Friday U.S. sales

http://www.neowin.net/news/early-data-shows-xbox-one-leading-ps4-in-black-friday-us-sales

Microsoft's Xbox One may be $100 more expensive than Sony's PlayStation 4 but there is evidence that shoppers on Black Friday 2013 in the U.S. may have preferred Microsoft's newest hardware product more than Sony's. The claim comes from a company called InfoScout, which collects data from shopping receipts that are scanned and sent to the company from consumers via mobile apps.

In this case, InfoScout collected 83,000 receipts from about 3,000 people who went to Walmart and Target stores on Friday. According to their blog, the data collected from those receipts shows that the Xbox One claimed 31 percent of game console sales that day, followed closely by sales of Microsoft's older console, the Xbox 360, with 30 percent. Specific sales numbers were not revealed.

Sony's PS3 and PS4 were third and fourth place, respectively, on the list with each console claiming about 15 percent of sales from those two stores on Friday. It's possible that the PS4's lower ranking was due to a smaller amount of units that were put on sale that day compared to the Xbox One.

This is already posted in the multiplatform forum, and if you actually look at the data in the article it is based on a survey of 3000 people at Target who bought a total of 12 (yes, twelve) Xbox One's.

Well they sold twice as many X1 than they sold PS3 or ps4 so there must have been quite a few sold or they only sold 6 ps3's lol.

Put up a new PS4 for $600, didn't sell.
Put it up for $575, didn't sell.
Put it up for $550, didn't sell.
Finally sold it to a friend for what I paid for it.

Now, trying to sell my used one for $500... Fingers crossed. There are a ton of them up there... New ones, for $500... Demand doesn't seem to be what the internet implies...

Come on Flynn, this whole thing is silly. Here, click here: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_Sold=1&_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&_sacat=0&_nkw=ps4&LH_PrefLoc=1

Ebay:
Average price for a SOLD new PS4 in the last 24 hrs (just the console): $622
Average price for a sold used PS4: $581

"Their success can be largely attributed to limited availability of the PS4"

It seems like PS4 was already out of stock pretty much everywhere in NA. MS got a good amount of NA Black Friday sales by having greater stock, so congrats to them. Still waiting for a bigger worldwide picture.

Also I'd buy a spare Xbox 360 for $99, great deal right there.

This is pretty much a direct result of the different launch strategies - MS launched in Europe and NA last week and was able to focus most of their second wave of units in NA, whilst Sony pushed their early units for an early NA launch and then since then have been allocating everything for their Europe launch. I imagine you had a better chance of finding a "Stop Touching Me, Elmo" than a "Brack Friday Bunduru" anywhere in NA. I can't wait for next weekend's detailed analysis of who won Pearl Harbor day weekend and why that means that either MS or Sony or both are going out of business.

Someone should make a stock ticker for closing auctions on consoles. Because the price fluctuates wildly for both consoles throughout the day. Like auctions that close in early evening hours are much higher than the auctions closing here early in the morning.

dat X1 positive news, hurry up and put that out!

lol, nice gif. Otoh, people seem eager to spread the news here. I had to combine three different threads on the same subject.

Personally, I think factoring in supply is just common sense and not necessarily a fanboy-motivated point. If it's not on the shelf, you can't sell it.

Well now you have to go into Sony's reasons for artificially restricting supply. One reason is that they are losing so much money on each console, that they want to push off most of their sales until years 2 and 3 when they make money on each console.

I never saw crazy gifs of X1 buyers going ape s*** trying to grab their console at launch.

You're right everyone should just accept the Xbox One won Black Friday based on the sale of 12 consoles from one store and that Flynn can barely get retail price for his PS4.

X1 did win black Friday due to the overwhelming demand of ps4. I just find it funny certain posters are completely 100% positive news with sony, 100% negative with MS.
Quick to fly with the defending, and this same behavior is what upsets you about Astro etc, but you do the same. For example you, someone who hasn't even been in the forza 5 thread, you dropped in to post a link it possibly wasn't running a 1080p and disappeared, of course eurogamer debunked it but lol worthy. Just shows how loyal you are, nothing more.

Well, that's because Xbox One buyers are mature and civilized people. Not like those PS4 buyers. They're all hopped up on drugs.

Well at least it doesnt look like they go any harder than crack, judging by the gifs. Thats a relief. Sony gamers will smoke a little crack but they wont touch the hard stuff....;)
