Xbox One wins early Blackfriday sales battle

Never said I wasn't a fan. At least I admit it. Speak for yourself, look at your loyalty and who always likes your posts.

With Forza I raised the same discussion happening on Beyond3D. Once the game was released there is no point in discussing pre-launch speculation based on screen shots of a game I don't own. Guess it bothered you. Would you prefer it if I go back and delete that post from 3 weeks ago?

I can't speak for other people, but what bothered me about Astro was that he was usually incorrect and he was not correctable, not how loyal he was.

If someone posts FUD or something completely incorrect, or at least something that does not pass the smell test, I will research it and correct it or at least raise a point, if I feel the point is valid and if I have the time. It looks increasingly like I don't have much time and certain people are bothered when I take them out of their happy place, so I don't post here as often as I used to. What's the point? If people want to take whatever Flynn says at face value, end of discussion, so be it. Xbox One won Black Friday because Infoquest found 12 people at Target who bought one. And Flynn can't even get retail price for his PS4, even though they are going for $600+ on eBay.

I'm curious though, is this what you believe or do you actually agree with me that these points are dubious at best? And if you agree with me why is it so difficult for you to say so?

The official will probably be the same as what everyone suspects; that is XBO sold more on BF. I think it's because of two reasons, 1. MS was able to ship more units after launch for Black Friday, and 2. Quite a number of stores held off some of their launch units for BF. The second one is more of a guess on my end due to quite a number of stores here in Winter Park, FL having launch units that didn't sell plus some stores (Best Buy on Colonial) holding some off specifically for Black Friday.

Either way good news for MS. Though I'm more curious as to total sales for both platforms in NA.

For me, I look at the anecdotal evidence, the stories out there right now, and the input from my friends who work at retailers - and the message I'm seeing/hearing is the same - there were more X1's than PS4's.

Now, as I stated in the first post - this thread doesn't speak directly to 'demand', it simply speaks to how many consoles have been produced, and how many have shipped to region "x".

My hope, and suspicion is that we're able to produce units faster than Sony... so I suspect that we'll see more about how X1 'won' Black Friday, even though it's obviously not a situation where there's unlimited supply, and simply more demand for X1... obviously that's not true.

In any case, this is good news for MS, and I'm happy to read it/post it. :-)
 
I dunno, maybe the internet is aware that Flynn is an MS shill and don't trust he actually has a PS4 to sell, or that he'll ship it to them in proper condition.

I sold my PS4 for $635 a couple days ago. Met with the buyer at her bank, watched her take the money out (people using counterfeit money through CL purchases is a problem around here lately) and hand it to me. I gave her the PS4, both parties were happy.

Now I just gotta wait till monday to put the money in the bank (stupid bank won't let me do deposits in their ATM for 6 months) then I can get my second 780 for my new next-gen platform.

Pretty good deal, sell a 4 year old platform labeled "next-gen" and use the money to buy actual next-gen hardware. I'd do that all day if I could.

Also XBO buyers are fat lazy slobs from all the cheetos (doritos when they're "dieting") and mountain dew. This is the real reason behind voice commands, MS knew their consumer base is too fat to repeatedly press buttons (it would give them a heart attack) let alone actually stop eating cheetos and drinking mountain dew to get up and find the remote.

Explain how that articles Forza 5 assertion wasn't fud?
Was the 1080P/HUD, 720P/gameplay upscaled claim proven or debunked?

I think thats a huge and asinine assumption believing that people bought the XO instead after learning that the PS4 was sold out. At 100$ more, that just doesnt make a whole lot of sense. The only reason people would go this route is if there was genuine interest in the product to begin with. That's the only logical conclusion to me mate.
 
That's not what that statement assumes though. I think Kassen's somewhat in jest point was that PS4 might not get the BF numbers simply because supply was short, not that PS4's supply shortage was why XBO did so well.

If anything the incorrect assumption is that the XBO wasn't "sold out" beforehand.. it seems more like it's a matter of MS re-supplying NA and Sony not having the units to re-supply NA due to their worldwide launch.

But at this point it's an initial estimate from a polling company.. we should have PR on BF sales early this week.

No, but neither did I have enough for the 780 when I spent the $400 on the PS4. So once I sold it I did have enough to buy the 780.

And a better CPU cooler than I had initially planned on buying.

Or do what the guy before me did. Asked a different clerk if there's any PS4's still around. Yup. He brought one from the back room.

Ask and you shall receive. No need for herd mentality lemmings. But that's marketing for you. Create sizzle and many people bite.

Do you really think X1s and PS4s are as sold out as Sony, MS or any store make it out to be? Only a fool would believe so. Ask and you shall receive. Just like Jacl Tretton hyping PS3 that PS3s are so sold out, it he'd give everyone $1,000 for one. Tons of them were piled at X-mas.

One part luck, one part simply asking, one part knowing that for any deal stores can become busy and product might not make it to the shelf as fast as it should be. X-mas is coming and those back rooms are jammed with crap.

Stampeding to get a product is for idiots.

I'm not sure about the US but in Toronto where I am, PS4's are sold out on a daily basis. Even if they have stock, they are sold out early in the morning. Over at another Canadian deals forum I frequent, there's a thread just for PS4 restocks info.

No. The whole point of selling a console at a loss is that consumers won't pay the full price for it. So you sell them the console at a loss in the hope that you make it up in the add on sales. If Sony thought the PS4 was capable of going head to head with the X1 with price parity they wouldn't be dumping it.

Please. You're saying they're artificially restricting supply because they want to push off sales two to three years to make money on the consoles. Just stop. There's simply no reason at all to even remotely consider that's true unless it's your fervent desire for that to be true, but there's no point in discussing this with a true believer.
