If you listen to Phil's interview on IGN it's clear some plans have been moved back. It's possible stuff was going to be shown this month but due to COVID 19 things have been pushed back. I think Xbox like many other devs and publishers are sitting on games but pulling together digital shows with new content is probably not the easiest whilst working from home.

Gears of War Devs Reveal Series Timeline and How the Gears Universe Can Grow

Looks like Gears games from Coalition here to stay. No talk whatsoever about experimenting with a new IP. All Gears, all the time. :bang:

It's pretty cool to see that timeline featuring different forms of media; from games to comic books and novels. The Gears world has been really "built", so I can understand they won't just throw that away. Still, it would be cool if the Coalition had something else next to Gears. Something like Perfect Dark would fit really well with them, the way they handle world building and action.

Next gen Xbox - The road ahead - Video Games - 4chan
6 KB
There will be two "next generation" Xbox digital events in the next two months.

The one in May will be pretty much like a proper console reveal event, but it'll have selected "showcase" game announcements/demos as well.

The one in June will be their replacement for E3. Show packed with games.

The exact form of these two is still being worked on as we speak. It'll be live streamed video content though.

There will be tons of new games by Xbox first-party. Big guns. Medium games. A few smaller ones. Their new games are sharing a lot of tech, built for UE4. From water to PBR, GI, procedural systems with optimized Houdini access, VRS optimizations, physical vegetation systems etc., the teams try to share tech to accelerate development.

Fable is one of these showcase games. A fantasy monster. I haven't seen it personally, but I got told it looks beautiful. They try to build the whole fantasy world with hand-crafted photogrammetry, yet the world will throw in a mix of procerural generation for bigger scale. Complete RPG systems in place, focus on great third-person fights and fluid animations. From the sounds of it, I expect the game to hit in 2022.

Big exclusive new IP coming from a Japanese studio. No further details known.

Halo Infinite has a huge open-world you can explore, yet the story missions themselves are linear to still be able to progress through the story in a more classic way. Optional exploration. It's a much more ambitious campaign this time around, not your usual 6-9 hours Halo campaign. They are doing one very bold move for multiplayer, which will surprise people, but this move has the potential bring Halo MP back among the top played games on Xbox.

Obsidian - OMG Obsidian!

FM gets a complete reboot. Internal retooling of ForzaTech happened during the last few years already. Engine in position for next-gen now.

Further reboots coming. Just a tease of what's to come.

The next two months are going to be fire. Phil not holding back.

Funny how that video totally ignores 2 main points from the start of this gen. 1.( The Xbox 1 was marketed as a media machine, not as a game console. 2. (The extra cost was due to forcing a peripheral nobody wanted.

The first couple of years is made up mostly by core gamers, the gamers sitting on forums saying they don't care if it $600 bucks cause the machine is powerful. So, the video doesn't even correlate with the core gamers mindset.

Also, XSX isn't even next gen, like the x1X, it is a continuation of this gen...Atleast for a little while.

MS ready to price match Sony.
Both consoles will likely be $500.
This time there is too much tech in those boxes to be $400. Desk Top quality CPU's, High Speed SSD's, advanced cooling, Beast GPU's. So powerful the form factor needed to be changed.
If its $500 its a bargain.

I agree. MS will be willing to take a bigger loss per console to price match.

Very far away...
True, but I’m not 100% sure he was referring to MS. He’s been discussing that more, so I figured it was in reference to it.

May seems to be when the (first?) digital event is going to be.
