Zenimax Media/Bethesda

What I did not realize until listening to the Major Nelson podcast a few days back, with Phil Spencer, and Todd Howard and Pete Hines from Bethesda, is just how big of Xbox fans that Bethesda already was! They absolutely LOVE Gamepass, too! This really changed my perspective on this whole thing. That's all I want to say. I'm still completely indifferent, and I can still see both sides of the "why", but if I had to take a guess at this point, I'd say that they will probably go exclusive for new games.

One of the stories that I'm sure that some of you remember is that when they made Oblivion on Xbox 360, they were already deep in development. It was Bethesda that pushed Xbox to double the memory by showing 2 versions of the game, and what it could look like. When they finally announced that they were doubling the memory, they actually threw a "Double Memory Party", complete with a 512 cake, and the developers were so happy that they actually got their wish. Seriously, the podcast was worth the listen, and I usually don't like listening to Mjr. Nelson ramble.

I don't get what this is supposed to mean. Nobody cares that Sony and Microsoft bought all their studios.
Studios that were also making games for the competition is what he is saying. For example, do you think Sony is going to have Insomniac make Sunset Overdrive 2 for Xbox? Or would they keep it to themselves?

Yeah but nobody cared when Microsoft bought studios that made multiplatform games either. Its an implication of a double standard but it makes no sense.

At this point, I just want them to make it! I’ll have both systems eventually so I don’t care, just give me the sequel.

I'd imagine MS buying Valve may be difficult because I can see it triggering an anti-trust investigation.

Yeah...this one could. They won't have issues with other publishers however Steam is a different animal.

but Sony has their hand in Epics popcorn at the theater when I looked back, Sony just smirked and winked, so I gave a thumbs up and mouthed “that’s what’s up” and winked

I wonder with Amazon announcing their platform if they were interested in Bethesda? And if so, how far talks may have gotten?

Hope they don't kill The Evil within to please Capcom.

Room for more horror games

Translation:
The Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield will be the biggest generational leaps for Bethesda in 15 years, says Producer Todd Howard.

He says he works hand in hand with Microsoft to improve graphics and data streaming.

good read that. I actually was in the same position. Initially I thought there is no way they will go exclusive with the likes of Elder Scrolls considering how many units it would ship on PlayStation. But now I’m not so sure.
