Zenimax Media/Bethesda

Doesn't matter. To play it for more than 5 months you have to spend more. That doesn't change just because there are other games.

On the flip side, if you only play for 2 months it costs you less than half price. Or we can use your logic and say the price is neverending because it stays on the service.

If you're only going to play 1 game for 5+ months then Game Pass isn't for you.

As a Xbox fan, mind f***ing blowing. Mic drop moment to Microsoft’s commitment to gaming.

As a gamer, consolidation of studios like this is not good IMO.

From a logic stand point, this is Microsoft’s play to get game pass on everything, including PlayStation. There is no better value even if they increase the price tomorrow to $15 a month. All Microsoft has to tell Sony fanboys is they offered to put game pass on PlayStation but Sony said no.

They would have to pay all of the 3rd parties more money for their games to appear on other platforms I'm sure, it's not just as easy as trying to get Sony to allow it. When it comes to games like Elder Scrolls I also don't see any real value in GP over buying the game, those are games that people play for months leave and then come back to later, you'd be better off in the long run just buying it especially if GP goes up in price. They are good games to keep people signed up to GP but at the same time even if I were an xbox owner I'd probably just buy them as I have no interest in the rest of the GP library.

It's not just about how many you play it's which ones you play, you can play 10 games in 5 months but if only one of them is on GP it's really not worth it.

JinCA in full damage control mode  PS fans not happy with the news. Xbox fans happy with the news. MORE NEWS AT 10!

I'm an Xbox fanboy, but I root for as close to 50/50 sales as possible. I like this move because that makes things closer.

I don't want Sony outselling MS 2:1 again, because that's not good for anyone. This move helps fix that, which is why it is a good thing.

The big difference is that I don't want Sony to "lose".

We should have been well on the way to a closer gen anyway. Lets not pretend they have never gone neck and neck before.

Where is the line where it would be correct to say "this is not a good thing"? If they buy another publisher? If they buy another one after that?

I'm not so optimistic. I know twitter polls are anything but scientific, but they still showed MS lagging way behind. Probably not 2:1, but nowhere close to even.

I don't see this as a slippery slope. They made a big purchase. I don't think we can expect more of this, at least anything close to this scale.

People constantly bash MS for not having games, so they went out and got games. This is why I wish people would just say they want MS out of this space.

Plus let's be honest, Sony is still going to dominate internationally.

They want games to play now not 3 years from now that's the issue, look at what's announced from 1st party for the next gen consoles, Halo was the only AAA game we know is coming in the launch year, these were also all going to be games they were getting anyway so this doesn't add anything to their library that wouldn't already be there all it does (If they make the games exclusive which I don't think they will) is take games away from other platforms, not a pro consumer move at all.

If you want it, you could always get it on discount later. Game Pass is a great value and you're grasping at straws trying to find reasons to dislike it.

Ok so you pay a fee for months then buy it later at a 20% discount? that makes NO sense lol. I'm not grasping at anything, I've had the service and I know it's not something for ME I didn't say you can't like it.

Seriously, how do you lie through your teeth DAILY????

Gears Tactics, an AAA game, is not only coming launch window, but launch DAY. The fact that these new studios will be making their game exclusive to PC and Xbox after the current contracts expire is a good thing for Xbox and their fans.

No. People bash MS for no new IPs. That is what "no new games" means. I know you're wilfully ignorant, though.

Crazy i wonder if the contract on starfield was completed.

Except we both know the complaint about MS games are about what they have delivered recently or are about to deliver. It wasn't a commentary on their first party studios as they stood. Its pretty comical to try and paint this as a needed move when this forum has been banging the drum about how their first party was about to become this gen anyway.

Its very slippery if it leads to someone else answering with acquisitions and it doesn't have to be Sony either. The fact that you would have someone in the thread is happy because at least it was Google is a good representation of why we shouldn't be happy with mega corps buying everyone up. Maybe eventually it will be a mega corp you don't love so much.

Where was everyone having these "healthy" conversations with Sony was buying studios, exclusives and timed exclusives? I mean if Sony can do it (and it's ok), well then why the double standards with MS. Is there some imaginary amount of studios or IPs that one can buy before it becomes "bad". And if so, where is the memo? Sounds like moving goal posts.

Pretty sure most PS exclusivity is now off the table with MS owning the games and studios.

Any contracts compled still have to be honored. Deathloop and Ghostwire will still be timed on PS5 for a bit.

Mega corps all suck, but the best I can hope for is strong competition between more than one. This makes that happen more. I said I want 50/50 console sales, yet I "love" one of them?

Or do you really think this causes Sony to sell less than MS this gen? I don't see that happening. Just like big money isn't going away in gaming.

Funny of the Series S had leaks all over the place, but a landscape changing acquisition didn't have a single peep until it was announced. I'm feeling like the Series S leak was a controlled leak now.

Some of us have been saying it was bad for a while now. Bad for both.

People were pissed when Spiderman was exclusive in the Avengers for crying out loud

And yes people were complaining about Sony and their love of paid exclusives

But the reality is people weren't pissed for the same reason few were pissed about Microsoft's purchases because you can't really compare Sony buying Insomniac and Microsoft buying Playground to this.

I have said many times on here that the purchases Microsoft made was a good thing because Microsoft's investment could make these smaller studios better. Buying a publisher was always a different story.

This isn’t a Megaton. It’s a Tsar Bomba

Yeah,, this is FREAKN HUGE for MSFT.

I had recently said how MSFT was in need of more variety outside the shooter spectrum. And here they go and make this purchase to make them an RPG heavyweight over night. This is truly a game changer for MSFT.
