People were pissed when Spiderman was exclusive in the Avengers for crying out loud

And yes people were complaining about Sony and their love of paid exclusives

That's very different. Messing with content within a game is really annoying to most gamers, and confusing to casuals.

Yeah,, this is FREAKN HUGE for MSFT.

I had recently said how MSFT was in need of more variety outside the shooter spectrum. And here they go and make this purchase to make them an RPG heavyweight over night. This is truly a game changer for MSFT.
Fable, Avowed, Outer Worlds, Pillars of Eternity, Fallout, Elder Scrolls.

Is Starfield an RPG?

A DLC character is bad

Buying a publisher is good

They would have to pay all of the 3rd parties more money for their games to appear on other platforms I'm sure, it's not just as easy as trying to get Sony to allow it. When it comes to games like Elder Scrolls I also don't see any real value in GP over buying the game, those are games that people play for months leave and then come back to later, you'd be better off in the long run just buying it especially if GP goes up in price. They are good games to keep people signed up to GP but at the same time even if I were an xbox owner I'd probably just buy them as I have no interest in the rest of the GP library.

They could also keep games multi-platform, rake in the money from that huge install base, and entice people to Game Pass and Xbox with those games where you'd have to buy them on Playstation. Not a bad balance that way.

Xbox fans were, yes. PS fans were not.

But the reality is people weren't pissed for the same reason few were pissed about Microsoft's purchases because you can't really compare Sony buying Insomniac and Microsoft buying Playground to this.[/quote]

Why not? Is there some sort of price or quantity rule?

Ok so you pay a fee for months then buy it later at a 20% discount? that makes NO sense lol. I'm not grasping at anything, I've had the service and I know it's not something for ME I didn't say you can't like it.
I mean the whole point of Game Pass is forward thinking as it's a subscription based thing. I pay about 80ish bucks a year for Game Pass Ultimate which a third more expensive than the price of a brand new $60 game and you get literally hundreds of games all at once.

Say a game leaves Game Pass, you have the option to buy it for generally about half off IIRC (only bought one game after it left GP). There's value in that lol, especially as someone who doesn't buy games anymore for the most part. I generally just play whatever's on GamePass and buy the occasional game once or twice a year.

PS I'm pretty sure you at one point called Game Pass literally worse than Hitler, Stalin, and Genghis Khan combined and if you like it you supported Osama Bin Laden

Do they have a choice to not honour the exclusivity commitments?
Good question, but that seems to answer the current question. Everything will be Xbox/PC guaranteed. No PS version is guaranteed.

Because Insomniac wss pretty much a 1st party studio anyway. Sunset Overdrive wss a rare exception. Playground only ever made Forza. There is a stark contrast between those 2 and buying Bethesda who has been a big 3rd party dev for so very long.

None of that makes it ok or not ok. I'm not arguing who has better console warriors.
Fair enough. But my stance is, if we are going to see this stuff happening from both companies (like it always has), then it is what it is. We have no control over the decisions. And they are not spending $7.5 billion dollars because of some plastic worshipers on the internet. They are doing it for THEMSELVES. Both companies actually are doing it for themselves.

I feel like Doom should be a Minecraft type situation with sequels on all the platforms.
But its MS's money and decision.

No console warriors are good. I still am of the opinion that PS has nastier fanboys. It's honestly the only time I ever see the words "pathetic" and "disgusting". Not here, but in comment sections around the net. One of the reasons I love this place.

I don't think anyone thinks any different

IMO the timing of this is for Sony, but the overall reason is to combat what is coming from Apple, Google, etc.

But thought everything they did wss for us. Isn't that gheir PR narrative now.

Even more interesting is that only 2 games were mentioned.

This is how I see this being played out:

Big Budget AAA games like TES 6 or Fallout 5 exclusive to PC/Xbox.

Smaller budget games like The Outer Worlds, etc...go to the Swtich as well.
