Sony at E3 2017

Was listening to a podcast with someone on there who knows Shinobi very well and he said that he had told Sucker Punch were meant to be at E3 but pulled out due to technical problems on the game. I would expect we will see their new game at PSX.

Destiny 1 also had to run on the 360 and PS3, the game was never designed fully to only run on this gen of consoles, if you watch the story trailers you can see a pretty significant jump in the graphics in Destiny 2 and I'm sure they are just using a version of the same engine with some enhancements.

They are, and while there is a visual bump it isn't really a big one.

Ilove how one console is being blamed for it being 30FPS when in reality you could make it 60FPS if they wanted and the visual differences would be negligable.

I would point at the game engine if I was to blame anything.

Oh I don't doubt for a second it's the engine they are using, I don't know all of the ins and outs as far as what's required for all of the online components they are running vs what other straight up online MP games do but when you look at other games that are on Frostbite that not only look much better but run at higher framerates it's hard to understand.

I do think the visual upgrades are pretty big in some areas though, the rain looks much better than those crappy long white toothpicks that were falling sparsely in slow motion in the original game.

Saw this on neogaf.

well Destiny only allows around 15 users in a world at any given time. Which means that games like BF1 are far larger in player numbers at any given time. Battlefield also does a tonne lf stat tracking and prooggression tracking via servers.

I couldn't say with any certainty but I am not sure it would be vastly more complex.

Destiny does have much bigger areas to play in though and there is different AI running all over the place which is CPU bound from what the dev says. BF for all it's greatness doesn't really run AI during MP it's all player controlled stuff, they do have destruction though, clearly it's an issue with the different things the games are doing, the tech involved and also the consoles having lower end CPU's. People need to remember just because the PC version can be 60 fps doesn't mean all PC's will, they'll likely need a CPU that's quite a bit better than what's in these consoles to achieve that.

Actually the areas are not all that big and isn't all that much A.I at any given time. One lf the bigger areas in the game has about 30-40 A.I.

Not thinking that's the reason... Sony had no reason to show much at all and this is why they cut the show short.

Even if the SP game was pulled it's better that they waited to show it until it's ready, even though we had already seen the vast majority of the 1st party stuff last year it still looks amazing and the Spider-Man gameplay was a big hit.

Ah you know I forgot about the loading that takes place between some of the areas, haven't played it in a while.

Yeah well like I said stuff was held off and the show was supposed to be 90 plus minutes.
Sony had no reason to let all the eggs out of the basket :)
I am guessing Sony also watched the lackluster showings that preceded there's.

I don't know much about shooters and whatnot, but isn't the AI normally handled server side?

I'm more of an MMO bloke, and I know that Destiny typically shies away from that label, but I just assumed it would be handled by a the server too. Is there still a host console for the AI and physics?

Destiny don't use dedicated servers, its probably based off the aging Halo engine. Not being able to support 60fps is probably an engine limitation.

Destiny uses the cloud for its AI and won't work without being connected to the net...so that's another hole in the BS story they are giving.

One of D2's developers listed all of the things that are CPU bound and AI was one of them. The CPU's in these consoles are their weaknesses, none of them have great CPU's but they are good enough that really talented devs can get 60 fps (or at least target it) for some really impressive looking games. I don't think Bungie is a technical powerhouse, they've always made pretty average looking games IMO, the only one I've ever seen from them that really impressed me was the first Halo, it was a pretty big jump over other console shooters at the time.

No new footage of the games but I enjoyed the conversation.

Lucky :) so how are you liking it for gaming now that you've had it for a little while?
I have 3 LED strips behind it and with the brightness at 20 out of 50...when watching in the dark the TV gets super dark and super bright.
I have comcrap cable X1,PS4 Pro,My main gaming PC,Switch and a Samsung UHDBR player hooked up to it and my AVR :)

I enjoy it greatly the set and the picture is the best I ever saw.. my only issue WAS the sluggish Android 6.0 UI but that is no longer a issue with the 7.0 update the TV got :)

Was there any decent gameplay videos (no commentary) for Uncharted at the show? All I've seen was the one where the people kept talking and they were showing about a minute of video over and over.

I haven't seen a full gameplay session with no commentary yet, the trailer shown at the conference was the closest thing as far as I know.

I just re-watch the SOTC trailer like the 10th time and reactions of youtubers of the game. Crazy lol. I'm actually hyped and excited for the SOTC remake but oh man I was hoping a remake of "The Legend of Dragoon" or a sequel to it. Oh well. One of the best PSone RPGs.

Destiny 1 dont, Destiny 2 will use dedicated servers for some functions like hosting a game but still use peer to peer. They don't use cloud the same way TitanFall used for AI.

I've checked nearly a dozen videos with different titles on YouTube and all of them turn out to be the same thing.

I'm really looking forward to the game. I owned the original and the framerate was too choppy for me. I then bought the PS3 remaster and the visuals were just too dated. I just wish it came out this year.
