Sony at E3 2017

I feel like Sony will always be held to a higher standard in regard to conferences after their past 2 E3's which sucks for them as they have to reach that standard every year which is very hard but the good thing for them is the standout games last year were all first party bar Spider-man and Death Stranding which both of them and their sequels will only be on playstation. I love that Sony gets that story and characters are so important that is what makes us so attached to our games and systems. When the next cycle of consoles comes people will want a ps5 because they want to play as Aloy, Ellie, Deacon, Kratos etc again. They just get it.

It is also clear Sony know getting to a 100 million sold will require a different strategy and I think you can see this. Getting and making a high quality Spider-man game to get some casual gamers and non-gamers interested in the PS4 is evidence of that but the continuing in investing in different games and experiences. Creating Knack 2 and bringing back Crash to give families something to buy; I expect Sly to come back too. Continuing to invest in VR as a pillar to supplement the console with different experiences. An emphasis on japanese games with Shadow of the colossus and monster hunter being shown. And obviously servicing that single player AAA market with God Of War, Days Gone etc which is a market third parties are starting to ignore now.

Waaiiiit... Are they patches, or are they re-releasing the games?

I figured it would just be a download! That's pretty crazy if it isn't.

I believe Skyrim VR is the full game, re-released in VR form. It's priced at $60 and includes all the DLC.

Also one thing I omitted is he said the games with 2018 dates will release in the first half of 2018. I will be elated and amazed if Spider-man drops in the first half of 2018.

So David Cage has confirmed Detroit is 2018. The only one missing for 2018? Days Gone.

I didn't create this, but I always felt Sony's big games had a certain 'look.'

Days Gone is supposed to be first half of 2018. Supposedly.

Yeah, those are visually similar. Of course, they are all framed to look that way -- characters in left foreground, forested locations, similar time of day/lighting. I'm sure we could find a set of screens from the same games that looked very dissimilar.

Days Gone hasn't been given a release year, unless something changed very recently.

They ended up looking improved unlike a certain other console...That showed a game years ago with Great graphics with amazing physics that winds up loosing those amazing physics and the visuals look comparable to this gens initial offerings.

Another winning post..
Is it kool if I drop some troll s*** in the Xbox threads?

I like Rollins. But I have to agree with what you've been saying about his posting style in the PS section.

Even though I do agree that the shared technology between Sony's studio does lead to similar visuals between different franchises.
But they all look awesome. So whatever.

Btw, what MS game are you referring to that got downgraded visuals and physics?

That template is fine by me. That's what I like and what I can't get on the Xbox ever, because Phil doesn't like spending money on developing exclusive games that don't revolve around MP.

Yeah Sony only said everything with a 2018 date is coming in the first half of the year, Days Gone didn't get a 2018 mention. They've been pretty tight lipped in interviews too, they were asked about that December 2017 date that was floating around and said it was inaccurate but that's all they'd say.

What's funny is none of those games really have anything in common other than pretty outdoor environments. GOW is set in a Norse setting with monsters and gods etc, Horizon is way off in the future and has mechanical animals/dinosaurs, UC4 has all kinds of environments but of course on with trees is picked for the shot and while Days Gone and TLOU share a similar "zombie" type of storyline they are approaching it in very different ways. I'd take all of these games over anything that's been shown by MS's first party studios any day of the week.

You really don't know which game?
Take a guess....

The Playstation template lol. They do look similar but as JinCA has said they are all pretty different. The enemies, characters and locales make them very different. You will not get a place like Meridian in UC4 or TLOU. I expect God Of War to have some outlandish places too. The good thing is Sony have other studios to supplement these games with Media Molecule producing Dreams, Japan Studio procuding Knack 2, GR2 etc Polyphony producing GT Sport, San Diego producing MLB. Sucker Punch might be similar but I would reckion in typical Sucker Punch fashion they will not focus on guns and instead focus on elemental attacks and supernatural attacks/weapons.

Nah just curious. I can't think of many downgraded MS games. It has to be CD3 with the destruction stuff reserved for multi-player.

Have they even showed that mode yet?
He mentioned physics, which should be assumed to be CD3, which of course he pulled out of his ass. Just like downgraded graphics pulled out of his ass.

I'll be worried if they all start playing similarly. Which they don't.

Well that complaint will and has been made. There was that Eurogamer interview posted a few pages back where the interviewer said everything looked like TLOU. God of War is a clone of TLOU now because there is a kid in it I guess.

A kid, 3rd person, on the fly story narrative. Not saying it's the same but I wouldn't be shocked if they took inspiration. It's a huge change from previous gow games. Basically, "what if we blended Tlou and gow?"

Even the art style is different and more like TLOU. Seems pretty plausible watching the gameplay. I have no problem with it though.

I am kinda bummed with the E3 after even more thought. It seems that I really only have one retail game to look forward to until the end of the year, GT Sport. Is there a reason Sony comes out swinging at the beginning of the year, then s***s it's pants the rest of the year every year?

Unless I missed something that would appeal to me?
