Sony at E3 2017

Destiny 1 dont, Destiny 2 will use dedicated servers for some functions like hosting a game but still use peer to peer. They don't use cloud the same way TitanFall used for AI.
The game doesn't work without the net due to the cloud ai and other things.
Patrols are on dedicated servers and always running, when a person is doing a strike the party leader is the host in the non respawn areas.
So when starting a strike its dedicated then merges into the party leaders connection(hosted).
Kinda like a hybrid.
PVP is non dedicated and Raids as well.

I've checked nearly a dozen videos with different titles on YouTube and all of them turn out to be the same thing.

I'm really looking forward to the game. I owned the original and the framerate was too choppy for me. I then bought the PS3 remaster and the visuals were just too dated. I just wish it came out this year.

SOTC came out when I was about to finish college so I never got the chance to play the PS2 version. In fact, never heard of it until 2008 when i was laid off. I can't really vouch if I had frame rate issues playing on the PS2/PS3 system because I played it on the PC using the PS2 emulator. I don't think I ever had that issues you mention. I do remember the controls being awful and the character being slow and clunky as hell. Luckily it wasn't a deal breaker for me because the game was so good. I expect the remake to fix all of that. I hope so.

So basically in every way that matters it is P2P...just like D1.

I never played it and honestly I would never go back and play a game that looks like the footage I've seen from it, the remake I'll play, especially since they are going to offer controller improvements as an option.

No new footage of the games but I enjoyed the conversation.

Yeah, that's a lively discussion. For those who haven't seen it, it is a discussion among high-level people working on Spider-Man, God of War, and the Uncharted DLC. They talk about their characters, themselves, and how much of themselves they put into these games. I like how the interviewer hardly does anything, and the guests just get carried away with the discussion themselves -- that is a good group.

Alternate path Days Gone footage and extended Spider man footage will be going up on youtube in the next few weeks apparently.

The alternate path one is on youtube. I think it was Jinca who posted it in the official Days Gone thread.

Sotc remake looks great to me, looks to be going for 60fps maybe.

But the s***ty one, and then ay it on the best one when it comes out! It'll be all the more impressive! It's not like you'd have to re-buy it...

Whoa, I don't remember seeing anything from the studio Sucker Punch at this year's E3. I wonder what those devs are up to.

I read somewhere that they were slated to present or reveal their new project but there was a technical issue. So we should see it soon.

That was my issue when I got the pro last year, quite a few games I wanted came out before it so I ended up playing them twice or only getting about halfway into them.

It's where I am right now. I want games for the X. I kind of like the Idea of playing a bit on the One the waiting just so I can boot it on the X, and be even more impressed!

I think Sucker Punch is the only Sony studio that we don't know what they're working on. Sort of the last big surprise.

I found it strange Sony went with Insomniac to develop Spiderman over Sucker Punch. I think Sucker Punch would have been a good fit and going with Insomniac doesn't confirm anything but Sucker Punch has to be developing something since their last game came out like 3 years ago. Someone above did mention that they read that Sucker Punch's demo ran into a technical snafu so their presentation was cancelled. Those guys make great games so I can't wait to see what they have coming.

Insomniac are super talented too, but more importantly, while they're busy, they can't make another game for the competition. 1-2 punch. ;)

This game looks brill.

When the Spider-man deal occurred in 2014 Sucker Punch were already into developing their new I.P plus Sucker Punch only want to work on their own I.P or Sony's I.P which Spider-man is not. Insomniac is an excellent fit for Spider-man and it was a win-win for Sony, keep Sucker Punch on their new I.P and get Insomniac making their biggest exclusive for them on a hugely iconic character. It could have not played out better. Sucker Punch will definitely be at PSX.

Lots of rumblings about Fallout 4 hitting PSVR. If it uses the AIM controller(I owned it) that could make the game the definitive version. The AIM controller is without a doubt the best peripheral I've ever used in gaming, even VIVE owners rave about it.

You can literally play an fps style game, circle strafe or whatever else you can do with a pad in less than an hour of practice. An incredible piece of tech, but ugly as sin.

Also theres a huge thread on PSVR reddit about the popularity of Skyrim/Fallout and how it could bring VR to the forefront of gaming.

I agree that Skyrim and Fallout could generate a lot of interest in VR. They are very popular games, and bringing them to VR combats the perception that VR is just a bunch of 30-minute "experiences." I think a lot of RPG nuts would really love the idea of a massive, open world RPG in VR form. RPG fans value immersion.

The thing holding Skyrim and Fallout VR back, I think, is the fact that these are 5 and 10 year old games that most people have already played, have already sunk hundreds of hours into. Do they want to pay $60 to do it again in VR? Maybe.

Now, if they could get simultaneous release of a VR version of the next big RPG (e.g., Cyberpunk 2077 or the next Elder Scrolls), that could be a killer app...

Really good and interesting interview with Shawn Layden, tells you about what Sony are doing going forward:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gaming/w...ions-shawn-layden-death-stranding-spider-man/

I enjoyed reading through that; thanks for posting. I like Layden. He gets a lot of sh*t, because he lacks the charisma or bro appeal of Phil, but he's sharp, has deep roots in gaming, and has a sense of humor.

A few notes:

1. He seemed out of touch when saying he didn't hear any negative feedback about the Sony conference. The dangers of being a CEO, I guess. Surrounded by people telling you everything is wonderful.

2. The idea of full-sized spinoffs like Uncharted Lost Legacy is an interesting possibility for "monetizing," one I hadn't thought of.

3. I like how he says his job is not to tell his studios (at least Naughty Dog and Guerilla) what to do, but to provide them an environment that supports creativity.

4. Loved what he said here (asked about the differences between MS's GaaS and Sony's approach):

“My philosophy is to play to my strengths,” he argues. “And if you look at the studios we have - Naughty Dog, Guerrilla, Santa Monica Studios, Japan Studios - that’s what we do well. We do story. We create characters. I was so gratified to see the response to [Horizon Zero Dawn protagonist] Aloy when she showed up on the screen and the crowd went wild.

“Those are the kind of things we do well. It’s what we’re known for. It really speaks to our entertainment DNA. We wish to entertain. We wish to make you happy. We wish to make you cry. That whole range of emotions we can pluck at to make you have a great experience.

“Games as a service? We have a bit of that with our MLB [The Show] title - it’s got the same virtual currency a lot of sports have - and we have other titles that come up that play in that space. But if you want to make a big generalisation about what does Worldwide Studios do? We’re big on character. We’re big on story.”

Right on.

Waaiiiit... Are they patches, or are they re-releasing the games?

I figured it would just be a download! That's pretty crazy if it isn't.
