NeoGaf on Life Support, and all Mods quit!

Hey guys, long time...personnaly I liked NEOGAF,I will miss the new game OT's and the Sports(especially Tennis and Football) talk and comments during the games/matches) and a lot of the people over there that where pretty cool...I just liked talking videogames there, not as much the political stuff,so maybe thats why I didnt see the big picture(I was in Off Topic for TV shows and movies, discovered a lot of great music in threads like progressive rock and stuff like that).

Noticed this morning that its no longer database error but down for maintenance. Some guys I follow on Twitter say it might come back...we shall see in the coming week I guess.

Good riddance to that cesspool. Yeah, there was some great info there but another place will rise to provide. Scumbag at the top of NeoGaf didn't deserve what he had and I hope most of his earnings goes to victims (provided he is found guilty in a court of law).

Hard to imagine he is going to be found guilty of this specific incident. Seems like it would be easy to say "we were drinking and I got my signals crossed. When she said she wasn't interested I got out of there" and if he didn't have a history you might buy it.

Which is why I think there has to be more going on. Otherwise why not quickly say that and apologize and attempt to salvage a valuable site?

Damn GAF was my aggregator of gaming news and whilst there some annoying people I thought most of the community were great especially on the Sony fans. The Sony thread of development studios was legendary and had great insights. The NPD threads were insightful and had topic and interesting discussions too. Ahh well I am sure some will move to other sites or someone will create the new GAF. I saw someone from Open Critic considering doing it if I recall.

Had plenty of great info and some good people. I will personally miss going there everyday to check out the newest game news and discussion. Posted maybe a couple times and just ignored the trolish people so never thought of it as badly as most.

Thank God it's gone it was a cesspool of pure s*** and elitists. Hope that they don't come here and ruin our forum.

I disagree vehemently. The site was an echo chamber of groupthink. Disagree with the hive mind and the user was banned.

The forum actively promoted through its strict banning protocol toxic SJW agendas, leaving no room for reasonable debate. This of course, poured over into discussion of games. Individual developers and video game personalities were attacked under the guise of social justice.

As far as the "analysis" that went into the video game industry threads, I'm sorry but there were so many forum members that spewed off nonsensical "analysis," which was based purely on their personal anecdotal evidence, not to mention they have zero professional work experience in the industry. Oh and let's not forget the threads dedicated to hoping a platform or game fails. Brilliant analysts there.

I will give that forum credit for being very quick to post news from the industry. But other than that, nothing of value was lost.

So, yeah, it's dead. All the mods left. Wow.

I had no idea Evilore was such a PoS. I guess it's justice, that his forum/business goes down in flames because of his behavior. I'm not happy about GAF's disappearance, personally -- I read a lot there -- but I'm okay with GAF being destroyed, if this is the kind of person the owner was. f*** him. I'll miss the game discussions, but the site deserved to die if it was owned by a guy who acts like that.

I wonder if he'll just sell the site, and it'll pop back up with new owners in a couple of months.

Here's a good vid that covers the basics:

Nah. Never registered for gaf. I was a regular lurker though. Loved seeing what they were offended by at any given moment of the day.

I'm confused by their forum arrangement.

Why is there two similar forums for the same thing?

Is community aimed at experts or something?

I stayed away from the politics, although even on the gaming side, I couldn't help but notice it. One time I made a joke about an early Mass Effect Andromeda clip, poking fun of teenage girls, saying she'd choose the planet with the best malls. It was a dumb joke, but I got jumped on by all the SJW types. Very offended! I just left w/o commenting.

Otherwise, though, I liked GAF for 3 things:

- Gaming news
- Game discussions
- Data, leaks, and analysis you wouldn't find elsewhere

I'm at that new site MW mentioned. So far so good. 1 admin, 4 mods, lots of activity. Mention of another site possibly coming online in the next couple days. I got registered as Andy over there, so that was cool. Site is running slow at the moment.

Seems like its just mostly people that got banned from GAF bitching about how they got banned

I think that joke is pretty funny.

Hmmm he seems to have a history:

Evilore (NeoGAF) Sexually Assaults Woman in 2012

I enjoyed the site for the latest gaming news, that's it. I was actually checking it earlier and thought it was down for maintenance.

Is there anywhere else comparable in terms of news?

Really makes you wonder what Tyler must've been thinking when the Weinstein wave started to swell up. Did he see the writing on the wall, or did he think his hands were perfectly clean? I wonder if he's still in denial and he's preparing to mount a defense. I mean, even Weinstein himself was preparing to destroy the credibility of his initial accusers.
