Good riddance to that cesspool. Yeah, there was some great info there but another place will rise to provide. Scumbag at the top of NeoGaf didn't deserve what he had and I hope most of his earnings goes to victims (provided he is found guilty in a court of law).
If we get an influx of members, can we put them through some extreme vetting? The best vetting?
We don't want their bad hombres...
Nah. Never registered for gaf. I was a regular lurker though. Loved seeing what they were offended by at any given moment of the day.
I'm at that new site MW mentioned. So far so good. 1 admin, 4 mods, lots of activity. Mention of another site possibly coming online in the next couple days. I got registered as Andy over there, so that was cool. Site is running slow at the moment.
I stayed away from the politics, although even on the gaming side, I couldn't help but notice it. One time I made a joke about an early Mass Effect Andromeda clip, poking fun of teenage girls, saying she'd choose the planet with the best malls. It was a dumb joke, but I got jumped on by all the SJW types. Very offended! I just left w/o commenting.
Otherwise, though, I liked GAF for 3 things:
- Gaming news
- Game discussions
- Data and analysis you wouldn't find elsewhere

Seems like its just mostly people that got banned from GAF b****ing about how they got banned
TruthI disagree vehemently. The site was an echo chamber of groupthink. Disagree with the hive mind and the user was banned.
The forum actively promoted through its strict banning protocol toxic SJW agendas, leaving no room for reasonable debate. This of course, poured over into discussion of games. Individual developers and video game personalities were attacked under the guise of social justice.
As far as the "analysis" that went into the video game industry threads, I'm sorry but there were so many forum members that spewed off nonsensical "analysis," which was based purely on their personal anecdotal evidence, not to mention they have zero professional work experience in the industry. Oh and let's not forget the threads dedicated to hoping a platform or game fails. Brilliant analysts there.
I will give that forum credit for being very quick to post news from the industry. But other than that, nothing of value was lost.
