Pushed back to 2019 according to reports

Fall release 2018 was never realistic.
Wouldn't be surprised if it was a 2020 game.
Kind of scary to hear EA putting all Bioware's eggs in the Anthem basket. If it doesn't succeed, that may be the end of Bioware. Two generations ago, they were one of my two favorite developers. Now they seem like a pale shadow of their former selves, limping along, with one last chance.
Am I being overly dramatic? Probably.
I find myself in a weird position. I'm rooting for success of a game I don't want them to make, just so they can return, years from now, to making the games they used to make.
And honestly The Division and Destiny show that this type of game doesn't need to be all that good to be a big hit. Anthem already has the hype so it will probably be fine.
I think bioware is one of the most overrated developers of all time, they have great concepts but the gameplay never really hits. The only game I've ever played of theirs that I liked was Dragon Age Inquisition and it has a ton of flaws, it's the only game I've ever played where riding a horse wasn't fun lol. Hopefully Anthem and the next Dragon Age turn out to be good games.
Did you know them back in the days of Kotor, Jade Empire, the first Mass Effect? Man, they were good back then. EA acquired them, and since then, it's been a slow and steady decline. They're just a shadow of their former selves now.
I remember Jade Empire being a great concept with a very flawed execution, constant loading times, terrible animations and stiff gameplay made what could have been an awesome game pretty mediocre IMO, the first Mass Effect was another game that was a great concept but I felt lacked in the gameplay department and I ended up not finishing it
Oh, ok. We have very different tastes, as far as that goes, then. I loved Jade Empire; I played it three times. You'll still see me sporting a Scholar Ling avatar, now and then. I thought the first Mass Effect was great; I played it 2 or 3 times. Kotor was good, too, though I actually preferred the other two.
Yeah I really wanted to like Jade Empire but the animations and the fact that your blows didn't seem to have any impact on the enemies just killed it for me, that and there seemed to be a loading screen every 4 minutes.
Yep and no. The Division had the same problems as Destiny.Has the Division seen the same statistical player count drop as Destiny? Maybe it is just a case of people moving on?

EA sucks, but don't you see that more as a general problem in the industry? EA is just the symptom of the overall problem.
As development times get longer and more expensive, you've seen things like Agile Development come into play. That's why instead of having very polished finished games we get more works in progress (and of course that model is very easy to monetize). I've thought of making a separate post on it if people thought it worthwhile. As someone who works in programming for something not related to gaming at all, our internal customers make the exact same complaints as gamers do.
Honestly people think Anthem is going to not struggle at launch? Really?
Not sure. Everything I find says "details coming soon" as of like 3 months ago.Is Anthem an online only game, or can you play it solo also?
Ive loved every Bioware game, including Andromeda and Inquisition, so I'll probably enjoy it... But I really don't want to play Destiny.

Yeah. Think most expected a delay into 2019. Shame, though. It is one of the more interesting 3rd party games.I guess we already knew this, but it's a confirmation ... of what we already knew. Early 2019.

There goes Microsoft delaying their first party games again.
Oh, wrong thread. And where's my sarcasm font?
I have lost a lot of confidence in Bioware and North America RPG's after Andromeda and Inquisition. Andromeda is not a good game and Inquisition is padded to hell and back with meaningless side content. CD Project Red and Guerrilla show now that the best RPG's are made in Europe and Anthem is going to have be amazing to change my perception on this.
Imma try to boost your confidence in Bioware for Anthem. This guy: Bioware writer Drew Karpyshyn.

Look at the Bioware games he's worked on. Baldur's Gate 2, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect 1 and 2. Notice Andromeda and Inquisition are NOT on that list. He's lead writer for Anthem.
I bet it's gonna be like the Division where it can be either/or. I hope it has a much stronger story and characterization than the Division, though...That's cool, I didn't know that. Is Anthem going to have a separate SP campaign, or is it going to be all MP, with some kind of story strung together?
