Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Official Thread

I always love that. Current COD game sucks! Past version was way better! Remember when BO2 was out and everyone said it sucked and that BO1 and MW2 were better. Different year... same complaining. I never get it. They barely change the game up from year to year. This is the first year they really made any changes at all.

Next up, bring in the COD4 worshipers!

Video games are not like a bottle of wine. They don't get better with age. People just remember the good more and forget the bad as they aren't playing as actively.

So much truth with this post. Every year, with the exception of ghost, it's been the same nonsense.

Except BO1 was better than BO2, IMO...but yeah, it does seem to be a recurring theme in COD threads.

BO1 had a horrible host advantage. The host was almost guaranteed tons of kill streaks and not having the host on your team often meant a guaranteed loss. It had flaws just like every game.

The only COD game for me that seemed significantly worse than the others was MW3. That seemed to have far worse netcode and lag comp than any other game. MW3 was the one game where I felt I had little control over the outcome. Otherwise every COD game has lag and even though they deal with it in various ways, it is always there.

Really, host advantage...never noticed as my team and I steam rolled all in our path

I was not implying it was perfect though. Just like every game it has flaws, but for me a little host advantage is nowhere near as bad as the Lag Compensation issues I faced in BO2.

BO1 did have terrible host issues. Remember the Jungle map which had no cover from aerial killstreaks? The host would own everyone and dominate. There are a million 40-0 vids on youtube from B01 and they are mostly on that map. The thing that was good was that things were pretty fair for everyone else. You were either the host or you were fighting for 2nd place.

Lag has been part of every game, they just tweak each a little differently. Lag is also part of every multiplayer FPS game. BF4 has lots of lag issues. You just don't notice them as much because the game isn't nearly as hectic/run and gun.

Honestly, people use lag as an excuse. We all end up on the wrong side of lag, but that means you should also be on the good side at times as well. The problem is people think that's how good they really are when they aren't.

I am not saying it didn't. All I am saying is I didn't notice it.

Not sure why you bring up, "Lag is in every game," nobody said otherwise and it is pretty much a universally accepted fact. Still doesn't change the drastic changes I saw from BO1 to BO2. In one game I see no obvious signs of Host advantage or Lag comp, to noticing the lag comp every time I shot at somebody. The latter was not fun, it was annoying, and is down right disgraceful, IMO. I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it in any game I have played, period. Seen Lag, sure. Seen Host advantage, sure. Lag comp, only notice it in COD, more specifically in BO2.

So, as I said, BO1 > BO2. Not nostalgia but fact, for me.

This year more than any other. The changes they've made are horrendous. Can't wait to get rid of this exo sh*t next year.

I like Z A C K and Kerosene31. I really do, but their involvement in this thread is infuriating to me. I find myself needing to transform my black and white worldview (all CoD fans should be placed into work camps) into one with shades of grey (maybe not all CoD fans should be placed into work camps?)

What is this that I'm feeling?
Hey I'm not saying I like the series at all. I'm just saying people continue to buy it so they are going to continue to do it. I haven't bought a CoD in a while, but that can't be said for the vast majority.

I'd much prefer an old school WW2 or Vietnam game next year too, but the changes this year don't bother me nearly as much as I thought. Exo abilities come at a cost. You probably show up on the map (unless you have that perk) or at least you make noise and make a more visible target. That exo suit noise is a dead givaway. As soon as you hear it nearby with no friendlies on radar, look up. Honestly I don't find myself using them all that often. Staying off the radar and not flying through the air letting everyone know where you are is more important. I also find that everyone expects people to be camping up high. I flank down low and get more kills because people expect that much less.

Although, like I said, I'm all for a WW2 game with much less powerful killstreaks and more old school shooting people to kill them with skill.

I have said a few times that I think each of the three development teams will work on different periods of time. One will do historic time periods, another will do modern day, the last will do future type stuff.

Play in classic mode. No jumping around.
Got to laugh at gamers, sometimes. They complain about COD never making changes, then when it does they play the mode that negates those changes. That is jocular, yes.

I am liking the changes, but it does make the game even faster paced than before (which was already fast). My only big complaint is the shotgun/knife lunge. It is the old commando from MW2. You see someone and put a ton of bullets into them and end up dead anyway.

Still a fun game, but it still needs some major balancing. A one hit kill weapon with decent range as a secondary?? The ASM1 smg is basically an assault rifle that is an instant kill up close. My "cheese OP" config right now is the AK12 with the ASM1 as a secondary with primary gunfighter. It is just like in MW2 using the Famas/M16 with a shotgun secondary. You switch to the ASM indoors in close quarters, but use the assault at longer range. Those seem to be the weapons that 90% of the people use. The other cheese config is the shotgun along with the speed perks and the perk that keeps your exo abilities off the radar. It is hard to counter that unless you just happen to be facing the right way. You hear the "whoosh" of the exo then the "poom" of a shotgun and you're now watching the killcam. I hate using cheese configs but it is tough to compete without them.

I think it's funny when I knife someone, and they fly into the air like a rag doll.

That is the best part of the game for me. Satisfying when you punch a mofo and you see his body fly six feet away!

Tried it, still do not care for the game much. Hardcore Dom is my favorite mode to play since BO2.

Worst COD ever for me. And this series is my favorite been playing it sonce COD1 on PC. I have played every COD for at least a year before the next release, this one I feel like trading it in.

We need a COD4/WaW remake.

You have to constantly do 360s in this game to check all around you. Someone can be on you in an instant. In past games, smart players could use the map, minimap and flanking to gain an advantage. No more.

I've found the best way to compete in this game is to purposely show up on radar and lure people in. I tried silenced weapons and stealth perks, but someone will still see you and just insta kill you with some overpowered gun. Instead, find a good spot and shoot the ground to show up on radar. Wait for the exo sounds and rack up the kills (good headset is a must obviously).

Why would it be World War 1 & why would it be "Sledgehammer Games." That just proves it's false. Sledgehammer made this year's game, TreyArch is in charge of the next one & they wouldn't give up the Black Ops name to do something else called "Patriots" especially since Metal Gear already had Patriots. The Black Ops brand name is too powerful right now.

I Still can't get Zombies or any other DLC going have the season pass have the game. I've even went far enough to leave the console at a friends reset my console and deleted EVERYTHING,as in everything on the console, then downloaded everything again. Have the AW 1TB X1 any pointers would be nice. Thanks in advance

I'm really enjoying AW more and more. It's fun, and frantic.

It also helps that I suck and give no ____'s about KD ratio, lol. Almost 3rd prestige, which is great, for me.

I enjoy the game, can be frustrating but its fun, cant play for longer then 1hr at a time. Ever since the update though and the changes to scoring I am not enjoying Domination as much, way to many scorestreaks now!! And that dam system hack!!

Nothing can stop the awesome train that is Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare:

http://www.joystiq.com/2014/12/22/call-of-duty-advanced-warfare-is-uks-christmas-no-1/

Number one in the UK this Christmas...

Ding dong merrily on high / In the UK CoD is winning
Ding dong verily the sky / In LA Kotick's grinning
Spa-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-aycey
Kevin in excelsis!

Like an exosuit-clad soldier sneaking stealthily down the chimney, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare sneaks up on FIFA 15 to nick the UK Christmas No. 1. Activision's shooter usurped EA's kicker with a last-minute promotion, which according to Chart Track makes it the fifth CoD ever to claim the top spot in merrytime.

Outside of that excitement, the UK charts are getting into the holiday spirit by barely moving an inch. Nonetheless, if you jingle below the break you'll find the full top ten, and this week a very festive edition of the customary music video - sort of.

I officially suck at this game. I just can not find any sort of rhythm or a weapon that I can rock. Doesn't help that I have not played a game like this for over a year now.

The multiplayer is ok though. Some of the maps are a little confusing, most likely cause I have not adjusted to the more vertical nature of this iteration.
Connection seems to be decent. I had a couple of games with some weird lag issues that required leaving the game, but overall has been pretty solid. Had no obvious lag comp BS like in BO 2 either, which is nice.

playing this game gives me a headache

when people are jumping and hopping around everywhere i literally just standstill and be like "just kill me". i really cant be bothered to aim so many places. i wonder if treyarch is gonna keep the exo suits

I'm not sure why some people are having a hard time getting kills in this game. I lifetime average 1.60+ kdr, and in most games, I'm now doing over 2.0 kdr.

The game is indeed frantic, but if "you" don't play frantically, then getting kills becomes easier. Way too many people are just all over the place, and they need to calm down while playing....although that makes for easier kills for me.
I love when noobs just hover in the air thinking that'll help them...and that just makes them easier targets, lol.

What I don't understand is, if people don't like the jumping, don't play in the jumping playlist. Exercise your right to choose your options.

the maps arent designed for that
Actually they are. They allow you to still go high via climbing and ladders.

Classic multiplayer is awesome and populated by a ton of people.
