Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Official Thread

TBH I do not remember facing any Lag comp issues in ghosts. With AW though it just takes me back to the days of BO2...Just straight up awful at times.

Lag is in every COD game. They just use different ways to hide it year to year. Like when you get shot when you know you ran around cover it is more obvious.

I take that back. I just had to quit the game. The lag is terrible. Either I shoot the other person and they don't shoot back, or the other way around. I actually had my gun stop shooting when I never let up on the trigger. I either go 3:1 or 1:3.

I guess increasing my Internet speed didn't help with lag. I was running around with the speed boost exo ability yesterday trying to mow people down but they killed me well after putting three shot gun blasts through their face. So many times the kill cam showed me farther away from them than where I was before I died.

Another time I died while vaulting through a broken window. But the kill cam showed I hadn't even made it to the window yet.

I seriously don't understand that.

I guess increasing my Internet speed didn't help with lag.

Having the fastest internet speed won't make your lag any better. You still have the speeds of the players you're playing with to contend with. That's why lag compensation is added.

I guess being the fastest running player in a game doesn't even matter then.

Not really. I also read somewhere (maybe here), that the ping range for AW is pretty large, so again, your speed won't really matter much. You could have a super fast internet speed and play with people with crappy connections, and the lag comp will simply "compensate".

Thing is, while people perceive lag comp to be a bad thing, it actually makes the game more playable/enjoyable due to how match making system works. You simply have way too many people joining games, part of parties, etc with such large differences in connection speeds, distances, etc. Without lag comp, we'd all still have to deal with good old fashion lag, which would then result in things that plagued us in the past, like skipping, rewinding, etc.

Well so much for trying to go light on a load out so I can run faster. Sometimes I have more fun playing with bots. At least then all players are on an even keel.

Yeah. I think sometimes sub-consciously, we feel that we need to play with other people to enjoy the games. I few months ago, I had a console friend come over, and had him play some black ops on pc, so that he could see how it was using a mouse. He was doing well and was having a blast. Turns out, he didn't know he was playing against bots. When I told him, he then only wanted to play mp, and had no interest in bots. Like....he couldn't have fun knowing they were bots, but had a blast when he thought they were human players.

I'm playing more classic playlists now. The exo moves just made things too complicated for me. They felt cool at first but I got over them pretty quick. Even with an aerial advantage, I didn't feel like I had an advantage at all. I still died a zillion times.

not subconscious.. its about challenge, if you are playing against real people you know its the best you can play against... even if they are s*** you cant really change that

but if you are against bots and you put it on easy it feels like cheating.. like who cares ofcourse i destroyed them. with me an FIFA, if i put it on easy and win 13-0 it feel boring and stupid yet if i play on hardest difficulty and managed to win 6-0 or something it feels like an achievement, cause thats the hardest challenge i could have had

But it is sub-conscious. Think about it. You could put the bots at more challenging levels. As for real players, many out there suck. You said it..."who cares" if you destroyed them. It "feels" good to play against people that suck. It also "feels" good to play against more challenging AI when you are not aware that they are AI. when you are not aware, you are having fun....so why does that knowledge change anything?

It's all some weird placebo effect. For example, people feel good when they do well in CoD in mp, but the truth is, between aim assist, lag comp, lag, etc...you may not necessarily be doing well. yet your brain is telling you "all right, I kicked ass".

Make no mistake about it....I'm the same way. I could up the difficulty of the bots, and have a real challenge on my hands, but just knowing they're bots makes me not want to play. There was a time when it wouldn't have mattered to me. I enjoyed BF2 against bots. But now that mp is so huge among gamers, I feel like I'm missing out if I don't play against other people.

Who knows, that might be why I really don't touch sp games anymore.

So forgive me for being super late to the party, but I rented this earlier in the week, and aside from the lame first level, the campaign was awesome. I only made it half way through or so, but it was so far one of the best COD campaigns I've played. I may end up buying the game if the zombie mode is any good.

Popping up in the air is a great way to let half the other team know exactly where you are :)

People over-use the exo stuff way too much.

Still amazed at just how much I enjoying this game. I am currently level 8 into my first prestige.

To be honest, I think the maps needed to be a big bigger. With the exo movements the overall speed is increased and the maps can feel a little claustrophobic.

I currently have 2 classes that I pretty much use 100% of the time.

KF5: Advanced rifling, Foregrip, Laser sight.
AK12: Red Dot sight, Foregrip, Quickdraw grip.

Both those seem to work very well for me.

Yeah the exo abilities allow people to move a little too fast. I'm constantly spinning around and checking behind me, because someone is going to be on you sooner rather than later.

Agree, there is a lot of hate but I enjoy the game. I cant go on streaks cause I die to much so I only use the care package support streak.

I got an Elite AMR a couple weeks ago and love it, I pretty much us that, the BAL, AK sometimes and the Tac 19, I go negative usually when I use the shotgun but its a ton of fun to use and I have had some good rounds with it. Stock and Quick Draw are a must for my on Assault Rifles.

Traded this game in two weeks ago. First time ever i disliked a COD this much to not wanna play it anymore. Been playing COD since the first one on PC. It is my favorite series and put in my most gaming time in MP. This game is just not for me way too frustrating and i do not dig all this futuristic stuff in my COD. I can see how others like it though.

Picked up BF4 for $20 back over Christmas and been having fun playing it. Hope the next COD is present or past military.

I was rampaging in the early evening yesterday. Even had 2 games back to back with a 5.0 K/D ratio :surprise:

Not sure what it is with this game, but for some reason weapon set ups just seem to lose effectiveness. Those 2 weapon set ups I posted a few posts up just do not seem to be working now. So I switched up to the ASM1(which I previously did terrible with)and just destroyed teams game after game...weird.

I like it because its different. You can not really play it like older games. If you run around like a mad man then odds are you're going to do poorly. I also like how the exo movements are not very effective when you spam them, which makes them more tactic based. IMO, it takes more skill to use the Exo suit well than it does to shoot people.

It certainly takes a while to adjust to, at least it did in my case.

I was getting use to everything, I was just having zero fun playing the game and it was mainly a frustrating mess. I'm glad they tried something new it is just not for me.

Just completed the campaign on Veteran, awesome. I have not enjoyed a COD campaigned since MW2, but I think the campaign in AW was well done. Visually it is pretty nice and those cutscenes are spectacular.

Feeling the same. I just Redbox'd it the other night and am really enjoying it. I'm prolly halfway through on Veteran myself and its been great. The graphics are really good for a COD game and like you said the cutscenes are phenominal. My wife thought I was watching a movie.

Finished up the campaign on Veteran last night. Enjoyed the campaign the most since WaW. Prolly the easiest Veteran playthrough in the series, seems like there were ammo resupply crates at every harder point in the game. The graphics were really good, character models especially, though there were some areas where the back rounds looked straight outta the PS2 era (the city/mountains and Navy fleet on the Golden Gate Bridge level). The one thing I had issue with was with grenades/explosives, seems like they had no blast radius. Even when I'd throw them into a dense cluster of enemies it'd only kill one or two at the most.
Really enjoyed the game :)

This game really is strange as fook. I said this before but am going to say it again...How come the loadouts weirdly lose effectiveness? I play 4 games and totally own with a KF5. Nobody leaves or joins the room, then match 5 the KF5 seems useless. So, I switch up to an AK12 and kick ass again for 2 games, rinse and repeat.

Before I sort of wrote it off as people changing and host likely changes, but with yesterdays games where rooms stayed intact several games in a row....

Anybody else notice or experience this? It is weird as fook.

Bandwidth fluctuation and thus change in lag comp compensation.
