Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

this will be the last time i give BR a go, i feel if any BR will be fun it will be COD

but again i watched some streams and i felt the same thing "you drop,run around loot, run some more trying to stay in circle, hope to get into fight, die and repeat" the looting and running for ages with very little combat is the problem for me i think

- Game looks and runs great on the base PS4. Resolution at distance feels a little vasoliney but it's not too much of a bother.

- The TTK is quuiiiick.

- My God I hate the bobble while sprinting effect.

- I think 1st person games excell with in your face combat. Games like Quake, Overwatch etc...If hiding, stealth, gathering Intel before you engage benefits your game, third person is the way to go. I think BR lends itself to 3rd person.

- My biggest problem is the down time. Engagements don't seem to last that long so there's a lot of non action and traversing the map isn't very engaging.

- PUBG is in trouble this holiday season due to this. Fortnite will be fine.

I'll keep playing it this week and we'll see how my impressions change.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is the kiddies love COD. Don’t doubt this game pulling them away from Fortnite.

Oh some will for sure. I just see it pulling a much bigger percentage away from the PUBG player base.

I hope it succeeds though because Bluehole wasn't exactly lighting a fire under Epics behind with their "Fix the game" innitiative.
 
Sounds like this will put a big dent in the Fortnite userbase.
 
Played it and thought it was pretty enjoyable. Not exactly the most fresh thing I have ever played but it makes PUBG pretty obsolete to me. Especially from a performance standpoint.

The Godfather Jeff Gerstman said on the Beastcast a few weeks back that BR marked the third epoch of the FPS genre. Doom, then Counter Strike, then PUBG. I wouldn't close yourself off from the genre just because Treyarch couldn't push it forward. The genre is too new with too much potential.

Looting and map traversal will both be addressed by either future BR game and/or Fortnite moving forward.

I got my second code from Amazon and the same issue happened. I get an error saying it's already been used. This is the second time. Haz, you can also digitally pre-order through Xbox/Microsoft and cancel it that was as well. As far as getting it from Amazon, it's usually 24 hours.

Tip for everyone when they jump in....

As you jump out of the choppers at the start of the match, there's a "meters per second" gage on the right side of your screen.

You want to build that speed up before you pull up and glide horizontally with your wing suit. You want to do this so you reach your drop zone faster than everyone else.

No one seems to know this yet and it makes a world of difference in reaching far drop zones faster than anyone else.

Third day playing this in a row. Got to say... it's growing on me.

One bit of speculation I'll throw out there. The creative lead, can't recall his name, has somewhat harshly shot down the idea of additional maps. He hasn't outright denied it but he's kind of shortly said things along the lines of "We're just trying to make this map as good as we can right now."

He's also hinted at future Call of Duty games having a Battle Royale mode too.

So 1 CoD BR per year? I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

BTW, this map needs a day/night cycle with zombies coming out with increased frequency at night. Forcing players to change up tactics at night would be siiiiiiick.

Day 3 of Blackout Impressions:

I soured on the game a bit more today. Gunfights are simply way too quick and they all fall into one of two categories. You either round a corner and start spraying at each other for 1.25 seconds (till someone dies), or you peak n pop behind geography until someone wins with superior aim/weaponry. It's severely lacking variety and engagements simply don't last long enough for this type of game.

I'm also not seeing very many crazy plays/highlights on the Blackout subreddit, which is worrying. Relatively speaking it just doesn't seem to be able to generate the stories.

Still runs and looks great though. Planning to play more squads the next two days. I hope Treyarch has some big/fresh ideas planned down the road for this one. It needs it.

I pre ordered on MS store. I found the beta on the search option i clicked it it says I already own it but does not have a install button or it is not in my que to download. Can’t download it early?

I chatted with them earlier. They said it will be live tomorrow. No pre-loading.
 
Blackout took a big dip on Twitch today. Falling below PUBG for the first time since the beta started. Numbers should go back up this weekend but it will be interesting to see how watchable the game is going forward.

As soon as shroud and Dr. Disrespect move to COD, PUBG is finished on twitch.
 
Watching PC streamers like Shroud, Lirik and DrDisrespect play and love this on console. But so excited for the PC beta tomorrow, which is there platform of choice tells me this game mode is gonna be huge for COD!

I can’t wait to try this out tomorrow night!

I’m surprised they’re not releasing more info or even a beta for Battlefields BR mode. You would think they would want to build hype for their own BR mode with COD’s BR beta being well received.
