Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

It has the best combat.
The best map.
The best looting.

The 3 most important tennents of Battle Royale.

Time will prove I'm right (again). Blackout will launch with a lot of fanfare and will fizzle out relatively soon after.

Best combat? Nope. I do think the controls and aiming feel great but the arcadey bunny hopping and people spamming the building mechanic ruin the combat.

Best Map? That’s all preference. PUBG has good maps and the COD map has a decent lay out I just need to play it more. Fortnite has been the same map since release with just some changes from time to time.

Best looting? Fortnite is just simple that does not equal better. I don’t like picking up weapons as is I want to customize them. I do like some of the items in Fortnite they are cool.

Only thing I give credit to Fortnite being the best in is clean graphics and how smooth it runs. It is a looker, then again the art style plays a roll in that and I don’t teally care for the art style personally.

Popularity does not make a game better. COD crowed are getting their first taste at BR if they don’t play a lot of other shooters every year. The players will be there.

The building has got so out of hand in Fortnite. It has become a battle of who can build to the sky the fastest. Awful.

Fortnite probably benefits from being an arcade experience in the map department. It does allow for more creative locations. Definitely more enjoyable to look at then everything being brown.

Fortnite definitely has the best looting. It is fast and it is satisfying. Blackout would be much improved by just simply making it press the button instead of hold the button.

Blackout will definitely be big. Not as big as Fortnite obviously but even if it was just a better running PUBG that puts it in a position to do really well on consoles.

Sad to see the thread go down the road of Sunset claiming to be so smart simply because he discovered a game that millions were already playing. A real trendsetter that guy is.

You might not like the building in Fortnite, but it's the single most important feature in Fortnites superior combat. Blackout is almost exclusively "spray at enemies close range, or peak n pop at enemies mid to far range". There's very little variety. The building not only gives the defender a set of interesting options (peak back, build battle, rift to go, heal up, impulse grenade retreat, build and spike trap up etc...), but it elongates the combat and can turn a 6 second gunfight into a 2+ minute sweat fest.

The map in Fortnite is better for two main reasons. It's far more vertical which factors interestingly into gameplay much more, and things like the rifts/low gravity zones/cube gives players things to consider while moving from points A to B. Blackout doesn't have that. Let's also not forget that Fortnite not only plays with loot density in their map design (as does Blackout) but they also play with material density, which Blackout doesn't.

The looting in Fortnites better for a bunch of reasons. It's faster, more visually satisfying, and the loot table is far more diverse. If you drop an enemy from 200 yards away in Fortnite, a blast of colorful confetti gets thrown to the ground for everyone to see until it gets looted. In Blackout, if you don't witness the snipe as a 3rd party, or happen to stumble on it right in front of you, no one else is going to see it. Once again, Fortnites system creates more dynamic gameplay experiences.

I really have no idea why more people aren't saying this, but in Blackout I routinely get end game loot during the first 5 to 10 minutes of a lot of matches. Once my loot is acceptable that early, looting is borderline meaningless for the rest of the match. If looting has such little value for the majority of a match, that's a massive design flaw. This is BR for goodness sakes.

Must be the honeymoon period.

This is just innacurate. The building meta got nerfed pretty soundly about 7 weeks ago. You should check in every once in a while.

Wrong.

I’ve played recently with groups of friends (I have some friends that prefer it over PUBG) and building is as annoying as ever. Still have no trouble holding my own with em just find the game more annoying than fun this why I can only play it in small doses. Best BR game all around it is not.

Some people prefer checkers to chess. I'm not one of those people. Chess is a better game.

And you're simply wrong about the building. Since the building meta was at it's peak, Epic has...

- Reduced starting health of all building pieces.
- Buffed C4/explosive damage to structures.
- Buffed mini gun damage to building pieces.
- Increased pick axe damage to building.
- Added storm damage to structures.
- Given us the Rift-to-go, Shockwave Grenade, the Grappler, and Silenced AR's, which all aid in combat against builders.

In fact, Epic made a public blog post basically saying they wanted to pull the power of building back about two months ago. But what does Epic know right? I mean, you play in small doses and "hold your own".

If you think building is "as bad as ever", you're either ignorant or willfully disingenuous. Maybe know who you're speaking to before commenting in this particular area, lol.

Fortnite is checkers the casuals love checkers.

Have time to play a bunch today.

They added a new mode Close Quarters Frenzy. It’s pistols, shotguns, and subs only and the circle collapses faster. It is a duos mode.

Haven't really cared for CoD in a few years. Blops 3 was the last I played and it didn't last long. Just not my type of multiplayer anymore. That said, watching some Blackout, it looked pretty good for a CoD game. No interest in BR though

Sounds like they just added a boss zombie to the zombie locations. Noice.

Plus here's a cool play someone posted on Reddit...

I’ve hit a slump this evening just can’t do anything right.

Found a random house away from named areas that the zombie box spawns in it has spawned their often. It’s on the SE side of the map near the river the building has a boxing ring in it.

Does this game have the same tension as PubG? That is pretty much what makes the game. That and the difficulty of getting the kill- bullet drop and whatnot.

It seems it's too fast paced and too easy to kill someone in COD for it to work. I wont know till I try, I guess.

I prefer PUBG's semi-realistic combat. Don't get me wrong, I've had my fun with the Blackout beta, but after awhile you get tired of running and gunning. You could literally kill someone from afar with a pistol or spraying them with an automatic, provided he/she isn't using an overpowered LvL 2 or 3 vest. The hitbox is ridiculous.

We tried to take out the zombie boss and failed.

All the guns I’ve tried I think Titan light machine gun fully decked out is the best gun the game. Cut through people like butter.

They should add a beacon (that semi randomly spawns in parts of the map) that you have to transport to either a fixed location, or a randomly assigned location to unlock high level gear. The beacon would make you visible to enemies on the map though.

I've thought they should add this to Fortnite for a while but that boat/helicopter clip from above made me think about it again.

The videos are peeking my interest in this when fortnite and PUG never really did.

The videos are often 5 second clips in a game where matches last between 25 to 30 minutes.

PS: They just bumped player count to 100 and are going to keep the beta going a little longer (won't end today as it was scheduled). The Union, as a whole, does not seem to be on board.

I've been watching the matches from beginning to end and it's the first battle royal game I've been interested in.

Don’t mind Sunset. If you don’t love Fortnite and show interest in another BR game will try to course correct you.

I could see people that don’t like BR games much get into COD Blackout more.

I agree. The smooth and responsive controls of COD are a big part of this IMO. And the lack of having to build in the case of Fortnite.

Im interested to see what percentage of the player base sticks solely to the blackout game mode.

But it's a great MP package to have the traditional experience and the BR in one game.

Lol I couldn't do fortnite no matter what. The gameplay completely turns me off.

This is different though and it makes me curious what Dice is doing with their version.

When COD Blackout and Battlefield BR hit the scene and possibly become a big hit with gamers I could see Sunset standing on a busy street corner holding a sign that reads “please play more Fortnite.”

I've been doing this since last October.
