Capcom: SF V will never see a release on XBox

Vanilla, or all 10 versions of SF4.

Anyway, I bought 2 versions, one for X360 (super street fighter 4), one for PC (super street fighter 4 arcade edition).

Its amazing how little they add to a version & sell it as a full game. Add 4 characters, never mind one of them is evil version of Ryu, some balancing, & sell as arcade edition. Not even bother to add some stages.
Capcom, king of milking.

Not to mention on disk DRM. I manage to found the location where they keep the 'DLC' costumes on my PC, change a few file names, & 'unlocked' the DLC costumes on my PC. So shameful.

I am talking just vanilla Street fighter 4.

Where did you get your numbers? Those are WAY off...

WOW. That is great, Flynn. Care to provide an actual number at least, or a source?

According to Ed Boon - 2 years after MK 9's release, the game had sold a little over 4 million.

According to Capcoms own Investor relations site, Street Fighter IV sold 3.3 million. I am talking just straight up Vanilla SFIV.

Sales look close to me. If you include a bit of extra sales from updated SF4 games, the sales comparison is even closer.

It isn't even a comparison. Somebody was wondering how well fighters sold these days. I just gave 2 examples.

Now there's fighting over which exclusive will sell more on which console..... Oy 've

I used to laugh at these posts a couple of years ago but now find them depressing.

That's actually not what anyone's arguing. Maybe your problem isn't what people are saying, but your own misunderstandings?

That's fair.

I generally think it's fine to include the different flavors of what essentially amounts to the same game... and so the numbers I can find look significantly higher than 3.3 mil, but yeah, if you're just counting vanilla, 3.3 seems right. If that is how we want to look at it, though, that actually makes my point significantly more poignant.

My whole point is that TR is the more interesting and more important franchise.

A paltry 3.3 million for SFIV next to more than double that with 8.5 million for the latest TR just furthers my point. TR is the more popular IP, the bigger franchise, and the more important title.

I actually think TR is bigger in both, and the numbers prove that...

Do you have any data to back up the claim that SF is bigger within "pop-culture"? I'd actually argue if anything, it's probably just the opposite, but the facts so far only show TR being more relevant, more popular, and selling through significantly more.
It's simply based on my seeing it being referenced and parodied. It's done far more often in my experience for SF than TR.

As for pop culture who knows.

We're on gaming forums, so SF will be more ingrained in people's minds since the game goes back 20+ years. It's also the type of game whose genre (fighting) and characters leads to funny things and ever lasting competitveness.

Outside of gaming forums, I think a good portion of people have heard about SF and Tomb Raider in some form. But TR is the one with much better movie sales. Both movies did very well.

For people who are not gamers, TR may be more popular as it hit films and Angelina Jolie is more famous.

You can include whatever you want. Just do not sit there telling people their info is wrong and provide no context or info to show why.

Yeah, I don't care about any of this.

How is that anything more than anecdotal/personal experience, though?

Check out Google Trends. Tomb Raider video game series is searched for more often on average, and it has spikes which are significantly higher than any SF spikes.

So far, not one person has provided any single shred of evidence that SF is in any way a more known, more popular, or more important franchise. The evidence has been 100% in favor of TR.

Why are people comparing TR to SF4 sales? SF4 wasn't released on as many platforms and still sold a lot of copies, also the last TR sold better on PS3 than 360 as it did on PS4 than X1. Both new games are likely going to be very good but are also very different, we also know one is 100% exclusive and the other is timed, what's the issue here?

If wikipedia is to be believed vanilla sold 3.3 million and all versions combined sold 8 million.

The issue is one is on one platform and the other is on another platform. So, with this being interwebz, silly reason as to why one is best choice for a particular platform has to be created.

The issue? I don't think there is an issue. There's an incorrect statement about IP/franchise popularity/importance, and there's data which proves that statement false .

No issue I see.

Um ok Flynn....

Let me add also that I don't have a problem, Flynn.

Has it been said that ROTR is timed? I thought I read that future Tomb Raiders were coming out for other consoles. I honestly don't know.

Well in all honesty the last Tomb Raider game saw release on about 5 or 6 platforms (forgot if PC got both the standard and definitive editions) if you want to count that vs all of the SF4 releases (since it wasn't released on as many platforms) they square up pretty evenly in sales.

All that they'll confirm is that it's exclusive for holiday 2015 to the 360 and Xbox One, that's pretty much code for it'll appear on other platforms later, otherwise they'd just come out and say it is exclusive.

Isn't this being published by Microsoft?

They still won't say the game is exclusive, they admit that it has a time limit so I don't think the publishing really matters in this case. They don't own the IP and it's not being developed by any of their internal studios.

Square Enix also confirmed to Polygon that Microsoft will publish the upcoming game and noted that its "partnership with Microsoft on Rise of the Tomb Raider does have a duration, but we aren’t discussing those details at this time and are focused on collaborating to deliver a great game on Xbox One and Xbox 360."

Now that's no guarantee that it will come to PS4 and or PC but I find it hard to believe that it won't.

It will come to PS4. We all know this. The only question is when. could be 3 months, could be 3 years.

True, although I doubt it'll be more than 6 months, it just wouldn't make much sense to release a game that far out. I am sure they'll plan it's release not only around their contractual obligations with MS but also UC4's release date.

I think it is pointless speculating on when. I mean, releasing a GOTY year edition on PS4 makes as much sense as 6 months after, to me anyway.

It could be any time. Those with X1s might as well just stop speculating and enjoy it when it comes. Those without X1, will just have to be patient. Which shouldn't be an issue with all the other quality 3rd party titles hitting this year and 2016.

Sony fans are mad that TR is exclusive and MS fans are made SF is exclusive. Oh the f*** well....just buy both consoles you silly bitches. XOXOXOXO

joking right?

Anecdotal, but before this announcement I was able to sleep a good 8 hour night, every night. But now that Sony stole my childhood, it's a lot closer to seven hours and fifty-nine minutes on a good night.

And I'm sad! =/

Damn, bro. You might want to get that insomnia fixed. Otherwise, the next thing you know, you will be arguing about resolutions and the merits of green/blue being the best colour, ever.
