Agency Intel Report – July 7th
Good afternoon, Agents! Welcome to weekly Intel Report.
This report will serve as a bridge between you and our development team as we push towards Crackdown 3’s November 7th launch. Each and every week (like the name implies) we will peel back the curtain and give you a look at that inner workings of Crackdown, whether it be a look at concept art, an interview with one of our developers, or an unveiling of a piece of news.
There’s a lot to cover between now and November, and we’re excited to invite you to look at what it is we are doing, and how we are pushing forward. So, without any further delay, let’s get to work!
E3 2017
Last month we had the chance to unveil our Campaign experience at E3 in Los Angeles, and even better, we were able to showcase our work to press and fans alike, giving a glimpse of what is to come later this year.
Naturally, we are still hard at work at crafting the game, tweaking, tuning, and polishing as we go, but E3 is a chance that no one can afford to miss, and we brought a piece of our world – New Providence – to show off.
If you were inundated by a flood of information from the week-long event and feel like you may have missed what Crackdown had to offer, never fear! We will go over that for you right now!
“Skills for kills, Agent. Skills for kills.” Unless you’re brand-spanking-new to the Crackdown series, this line will sound very familiar. In Crackdown there are 5 Skills – Agility, Strength, Firearms, Explosives, & Vehicles – for you to ‘level up,’ and you do so by, you guessed it, proficiency using these skills. Kill an enemy while brandishing an explosive weapon – you’re rewarded with orbs that increase your explosive ability ever so slightly. Collect an Agility Orb, watch your agility skill rise. Simple!
For E3 we created a Skills for Kills Challenge, which gave players an opportunity to run around a small chunk of New Providence, causing mayhem to their heart’s content, in whichever fashion they chose. 10 minutes were placed on the clock, and at the end of the round Agents were graded on their performance.
The grade came in the form of an Agency Rating, which totaled the number of orbs collected via the associated skills. Skills for Kills. We know, you get it. 5-Stars was no easy feat however, and we can use this as a perfect segue to briefly talk about someone we’d like to highlight.
This is Kevin – or
@kevinsolecki if you’re more socially inclined – and Kevin can best be described as a monster. The above image was taken early in the week when Kevin became the first Agent to crack (see what we did there?) the 20K point mark, and in process wowed us all. But, Kevin wasn’t done there. Throughout the rest of the week he came by the booth, even playing non-stop on Thursday, and managed to double his previous score, racking up over 40,000 points when everything was all said and done. Insane.
Kevin, if there were a 6th star, I’d say you earned it.
As a consolation prize, however, Kevin managed to get his hands on some very rare Crackdown pins. Oh, and one more minor detail. He impressed
so much that a member of our development team promised to enshrine him in Crackdown 3, placing his name in New Providence in a fun way, artful way.
By now you’re probably thinking that all of this is great, but you really wanted to
see what Crackdown has to offer. We get it! Thankfully, there’s more!
In a small room hidden at the back of the Xbox booth, press and fans alike crammed into an area to get their hands on ‘behind closed door’ (BCD) demos of various Xbox games including Crackdown. There were a handful of rooms, but the room we will focus on right now is room #8.
Room 8 was setup for a different purpose. It gave some of our biggest fans a chance to stream to their audiences from the E3 show floor (sort of). On the wall sat a beautiful 4K tv, and in front of that was a PC, and Xbox One X sitting at the ready. Throughout the week a ton of streamers came in and played, and below you can watch WWE Superstars Xavier Woods & Samoa Joe make their way through the Skills for Kills Challenge. Check it out.
Hopefully, that video gives you a small glimpse of the fun that went down at E3. Sitting in a tiny room with those two certainly provided enough challenges for space, but it was a blast none the less.
Actually, that last line can describe E3 perfectly. So many people crowded into the LA Convention Center made the space feel tiny, but goodness it was fun.
When the dust settled, we had nearly 10,000 minutes of Crackdown 3 played, and close to 250,000 enemies defeated in those few short days. Crazy. We’re going to put together a fun infographic on some more of the E3 stats, so be on the lookout.
All in all, E3 was a wild ride, but we’re thrilled to have been a part of it. Thanks to every one of you who either stopped by the booth, or tuned in to one of our streams. Those smiling faces you see above are just a few of the folks who work to make Crackdown a reality, and you should get used to seeing more of them in the future.
Speaking of…
San Diego Comic Con
Many of you have been asking what are plans are for future events. Comic-Con, Gamescom, PAX, etc. Well, we keep saying it. There’s a lot to do!
We’ll tackle these in chronological order, starting with Comic-Con which is in *gasp* 2 weeks.
Next week we will have the full details, but if you’re going to attend this year’s event, we will have something for you! Talk soon, promise.
Crackdown Live Streams
Starting soon (and if you don’t know, “soon” is our go-to qualifier for an unspecified amount of time), we will be hosting a weekly Crackdown live stream to look at the game, and allow you to check in on its development, as well as ask those burning questions you want answered.
We’re aiming for a test run of the stream next week – more specifically on July 11th, but that might get pushed back a bit. We’ll keep you updated.
In this live stream, you can expect us to take a small peek at some of the work being done. Nothing too spoiler-y, don’t worry. Rather, this will be informational in nature. Some days we’ll bring in an artist to show off some ‘concept to in-game’ work. Other days we may bring in the audio team to show off their expertise.
Make sure you’re following us on Mixer (
http://www.mixer.com/crackdown) so you can be in the loop when this gets rolling!
That’s all for now, Agents. Thanks for taking the time to get through this wealth of information. We’ll be back next week with info about Comic Con, streaming, and more!
See you Friday.
