Its only been delayed not canceled. Can pretty much guarantee it'll pay off too. People need to relax. Itsnl not like theres a shortage of games to play or ever will be. Hell, if you've got a backlog now, its only going to grow at this point. Crackdown will only add to it.

There hasn't been a shortage of games on either the Xbox or PlayStation in many years. There are more games and overall content on one of those platforms (by 3rd party alone) than there was on the combined platforms of the OG Xbox, GameCube and PS2 at this same point of the generation. People have lost perspective. I don't know who has time to play everything that looks interesting yet people complain about delays like they'll have nothing to do. How many really good games didn't sell and are now in the bargain bins because they got lost between other big releases.

You are both right but you were both singing a different tune a couple years ago and we all know it

Crackdown 3: All the latest release date, skills, and destruction updates
Ever since Crackdown 3 was announced three years ago, fans have wanted more. With promises of unprecedented destruction and more mayhem than any other game before, Crackdown 3‘s announcement set expectations sky-high. E3 2017 brought us a new trailer and some new gameplay to analyze, but there are still a lot of mysteries. Keep reading to find out everything we know for sure, everything we think we know, and everything we desperately want to know about Crackdown 3.

What we know we know
What is Crackdown 3? Crackdown 3 is the third installment in the Crackdown series, and the basic premise will be familiar to fans of the first two. Step into the shoes of an incredibly powerful Agent, equipped with an incredible array of super-human abilities, and wreak havoc in an open world sandbox of a city.

What is the story of Crackdown 3?Crackdown 3 is set in the dangerous, gang-run, futuristic city of Providence. You’ll cut through the streets, using your Agent abilities and special transforming vehicles to dismantle the Terra Nova criminal empire.

Is Crackdown 3 more like Crackdown 2 or the original Crackdown? Crackdown 3brings back the structure of the first game, though you’ll only have one criminal empire to tackle. However, you’ll have much more Crackdown 2–style freedom, with the ability to skip all of the bosses and rush straight to the end boss if you so choose.

What systems will Crackdown 3 release on? Crackdown 3 has been confirmed for release on the Xbox One and PC. If you pick up an Xbox One X later this year, you’ll be able to play in 4K—when it comes out, that is.

Will Crackdown 3 be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program? Indeed, it will. That means you can buy the game on one platform and get a copy for the other free of charge, and saves will be cross-compatible between both platforms.

Is Crackdown 3 single-player or multiplayer? Crackdown 3 has both a multiplayer mode and a campaign. The campaign can be played both solo and in co-op mode. However, the game’s much-hyped destruction system will only work in multiplayer.

Is Crackdown 3 an open-world game?Crackdown 3 has been billed as a “sandbox of mayhem and destruction,” with more destructive potential in its open world than ever before. You’ll have a pretty big area to explore, too. The world is twice as big as the city in the first Crackdown, and the tallest building is twice as tall.

Who are the bad guys in Crackdown 3? You’ll be squaring off against TerraNova, a corporation responsible for a series of global blackouts and a secret cover for a hierarchy of villains. To fit with the game’s open-world nature, each of these villains will respond dynamically to your presence in the world and escalate situations in response to your actions. By using the Feed Jacks system, TerraNova bosses will keep an eye on your progress, following you around the world. Annoy any one boss too much, and you might find yourself cornered in a surprise boss fight.

What is Terry Crews doing in Crackdown 3?Terry Crews made a major appearance in the most recent trailer for Crackdown 3 as Commander Isaiah Jaxon, a playable character that uses both Crews’ voice and likeness. As a Commander, Jaxon is given a Level Six suit, higher than the standard gear given to lower-leveled characters, and he’ll have some additional special abilities to fit his rank. That suit had to specially designed to highlight Crews’ physique and make him appear larger-than-life.

Why was Crackdown 3 delayed? Crackdown 3 has been delayed twice now. According to one developer, the first delay was to help create the most “fully featured” campaign of the entire series. The second and most recent delay is to give the game additional “visual polish” in addition to a few other fixes that weren’t named.

Sure, it’s disappointing, but at least Microsoft has admitted it announced the game too early. Maybe it’ll learn from its mistakes by the time Crackdown 4 gets its big reveal.

When is Crackdown 3‘s release date?Previously slated to arrive on November 7th, 2017, alongside the Xbox One X, Crackdown 3‘s release date has now been pushed back to to spring 2018. We’ll have to wait to find out exactly when it’ll arrive within that window, though.

What we think we know
How does Crackdown 3‘s destruction work?
A pre-alpha look at Crackdown 3appeared at Gamescom 2015, and it provided a look at how the game’s incredibly destructive scope is powered. As players shoot and smash their way through the city, each and every bullet, missile, or other projectile is calculated, allowing players to shoot holes through walls or destroy the foundations of a building, sending it crashing to the ground with every piece of rubble’s unique physics accounted for.

In order to power this, Crackdown 3 takes advantage of Microsoft’s cloud computing technology, accessible via Xbox Live. When a player’s local console or PC reaches its compute limit, Crackdown 3 will tap into Microsoft’s server farm, adding more calculating power as destruction increases. Each bit of the world can be handled by different servers, so that a building going down in one corner won’t cause a firefight happening on the ground below to lag.

At least, that’s the theory and the proof-of-concept that was shown in the pre-Alpha build of the game. These destructible environments are limited to the multiplayer side of the game, and only the single-player campaign was shown off at E3 2017. We have yet to see if the same system will hold up through the final product.

What skills will my Agent have in Crackdown 3? From Crackdown 3‘s website, we know that Agility (the ability to move as fast as lightning and clear skyscrapers in a single leap) and Explosives (pretty self-explanatory) will be returning from the first two games. Other icons indicate that Strength, Firearms, and Vehicles skills will also make a return, though this hasn’t been outright confirmed.

Additionally, players will have a few additional mobility options. Players now have both a double jump and an Airbust ability, allowing them to climb taller buildings and leap over larger gaps. Airburst allows players to perform a midair dodge, making it a defensive ability as well as a mobile one.

What weapons are in Crackdown 3? Part of the single-player demo showed off a pretty awesome weapon: a singularity gun capable of creating miniature black holes to suck in all of the surrounding debris before spitting it back out again. We don’t know much about the other weapons, but hopefully they’re just as awesome.

What travel options are there in Crackdown 3? It’s likely that Vehicles will be a returning skill, and Crackdown 3‘s open world has promised to include multiple traversal options whether you’re traveling on foot or by car. It’s possible, though not confirmed, that flying vehicles could make an appearance. While we don’t know of any specific vehicles, the developers have promised that your potential for causing mayhem will increase over time, hinting that players will see increasingly bigger, more powerful vehicles as they progress further into the game.

Will Crackdown 3 support cross-platform multiplayer? It seems likely, but it’s not yet a sure thing. Xbox head Phil Spencer has expressed a desire to introduce the feature in more Xbox Play Anywhere games moving forward, and, as mentioned above, Crackdown 3 is part of that program. Microsoft’s two biggest first-party games of 2016, Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3, both supported the feature.

What we want to know
Will Freaks return in Crackdown 3? We know that Crackdown 3 will focus on the gangs and crime lords that rule the city, but we haven’t heard a whisper so far about Freaks. These mutated humans only appeared at the very end of the original Crackdown but were all over Crackdown 2. We’ll have to see whether or not they survived to see another day in Crackdown 3.

Will Crackdown 3 introduce any new skills? So far, all the Skills we’ve seen on display have been from older games. While there’s nothing wrong with the classics, it could be fun to shake things up a bit.

Will we find out more about the Agency in Crackdown 3? Though the Agency outfits you with special gear and abilities, the first two Crackdown games showed that the Agency isn’t as righteous as it might seem. Perhaps it’s time we’ll find out more about the Voice of the Agency and who’s really pulling the strings.

Where’s the multiplayer? We know the multiplayer is coming, and expectations are sky-high. All of the recent trailers, video, and demos, however, have only shown off the single-player campaign. Will Crackdown 3‘s multiplayer live up to everything that’s been promised?

Been thinking...with how different so many old games have felt with their 4K updates on the X, does any game have as much to gain with HDR as Crackdown?

We have to assume the core game was nearly done as it was planned for a November release before all the negative feedback. That means the developers could have nearly a year to update the textures and refine the gameplay. The comic book visuals should pop in 4K HDR. Predicting Crackdown is the comeback kid of the Xbox exclusive lineup.

The magic 8-ball is giving me vibes this game will score about 75 on metacritic.

Based solely on whatever preview vids shown, it shows a fast paced game similar to last gen's Crackdown games. But I'm getting the feeling gamer's don't want floaty game mechanics anymore. And I don't think people are wowed at it's art style either. That cel-shaded kind of look is from 10 years ago.

It's more like if you are gonna go cel shaded, you need to make it look like it's drawn in a cool style. Look at DBZ, Naruto, and Guilty Gear.

Ya. Also CD games are just so dark, it defeats the purpose of the cel-shaded style.

Will it be a fun game? Probably. Will it set the world on fire? Only if they can deliver on the full destruction they're shown in the tech demos and trailers. Even then at this point, I don't think it will live up to the hype that surrounds the game. 75 might be generous.

I am just hoping Crackdown 3 is fun. I don't care if it scores 100 or if it scores 75. As long as it is as fun as the first, and lets me orb hunt, I will be happy. I am all for fun gaming.

They haven't canceled this yet? Ah well, just a matter of time.

Stop that. They're going to bring the fire at E3, all you gotta do is believe.

Wait, you posted that in November and there's been like 2 posts after yours.. This game really is dead. I hope not, the promise is there.

All from last year's E3 Trailer

Yeah I was going to say they all looked familiar but I knew for sure I had seen that last one before. So that guy was just making the whole "these are the updated graphics" stuff up.

That top left image is from the first gameplay vid they showed, definitely not from any update. Hell, all of those pics are old.

Yeah that's right, didn't you post some of those when we were talking about this game a week or two ago?

It just got a rating in Brazil.

Not much, but it’s something. Is there a timeframe before launch in which this usually happens..?

As a contrarian, today's Honda Accord V6 coupe goes 0 - 60 in 5.5 seconds. In 1990 a brand new base model Chevrolet Corvette did 0 - 60 in 5.6 seconds.

Today's Accord is quieter, more fuel efficient, more practical, more reliable, more functional...and a heck of a lot cheaper than 1990s Vette.

I don't think you can say todays X console is great because it's better than yesterday's Z console. You have to judge each product in relation to its peers of the same generation.

Positive rumblings about Crackdown lately. Jez from Windows Central had been hearing positive things. Now more good rumors from Resetera’s Klobrille:

“Alright. Because of my comment yesterday I know I owe you guys a little more. I had a long - and I mean really long - chat with someone working on the game just today. I can't verify these things though as I won't risk anyones anonymity. So take this as a disclaimer - and just as a blank internet rumor.

Without going into any kind of specifics what I learned is that Crackdown 3 is a bigger game than I thought it would be - and you know I already always was pretty hyped about it. Both in terms of content scope and budget. Contrary to what I've read here, the game without a doubt could've been released in Nov. There was primary one big voice within Microsoft stopping this though - and the budget of the project once more got raised significantly. (Personal annotation: while the name never was written, I think he indeed meant Phil, "to make sure the IP stays relevant in future"). The additional development time wasn't used for just polishing. It also allowed both Sumo and Ruffian to add more features to the two distinct game modes (Reagent Games seems super small today, only overlooking the project). Game runs in native 4K on Xbox One X. No performance mode. "Significantly more meaningful" transformation cars. More on the game to come "soon" now - couldn't confirm E3 showing. I got ensured the game has "significantly improved" compared to the last showing. Maybe @Jez heard the same story though.”

Thanks for the info, and that’s exactly what I was hoping to get from the delay. Nice to hear it sounds like they are planning to continue it in the future as well.

This will be the first thing I play at E3, and they’ll have to pry the controller out of my hands (if it’s good). If it’s bad, I will stomp the sh*t out of the demo area like Godzilla.

There will be gifs, oh yes, there will be.

This game could release with the best destruction ever, and people will still stuff to complain about. This game is bought regardless, by me. I love CD - the first one, anyway..
