Here is the same video from the official sony youtube page, may be a bit better quality. I'm really looking forward to seeing the whole alternate path video whenever they release it.
It's funny how he's talking about the importance of sound, then drives a loud ass motorcycle through the woods and sneaks up on the ambushers who would have heard it a mile away, lol. Typical game stuff, but funny.
I want this game.
Yeah, but Daryl is a Boondock Saint, so he has a legit explanation...Basically the same thing Daryl does in the Walking Dead.

Wouldn't that make it the Shadowfall Engine? So is that the same engine from Horizon: ZD?
That's the one. I haven't played Shadowfall yet, but I bought it on the cheap recently. It apparently has some serious atmospherics as well.Wouldn't that make it the Shadowfall Engine?
Shadowfall has the same "scanning" like HZD does when you press in a button. That's the one. I haven't played Shadowfall yet, but I bought it on the cheap recently. It apparently has some serious atmospherics as well.
I should have noticed the UE4 implementation on the snow spray kick up on the bike when it slides- very UE4...
So is that the same engine from Horizon: ZD? Looks extremely similar. I really love how they do their atmospherics on such a large level. I do worry a little about how I get the same vibe. Realistic style with the same visuals makes it feel unintentionally samey. Kinda like Unreal does if the dev doesn't add it's own visual flair.
Edit- Interesting, it uses UE4, lol. Weird that I didn't notice that. The foliage, atmospherics, and trees look very much like the Decima stuff. I guess when you go for the same realistic style, it's unavoidable.
It's outside in nature, not sure how much different you can make nature look unless you go for a fictional art style. that being said I don't really think it look much like HZD at all. Horizon seems more colorful to me, this has a bit of a grittier look IMO.
That's kinda the pitfall of realistic styles. It's hard to have a visual Identity. I definitely get a similar vibe, but like I said, there is only so much you can do when you go realistic. It's outside in nature, not sure how much different you can make nature look unless you go for a fictional art style. that being said I don't really think it look much like HZD at all. One big differentiation between the two is the wildlife and the look of the characters, the overall look of both games is pretty different IMO but yeah when you go realistic there is only so much you can do with trees and rocks
To be fair, making cars (and environments you don't really interact with) look realistic is far easier to achieve than Humans in interactive environments that have to stand up to closer scrutiny. Detail just doesn't have to be as high in a Driving game where the environment flies by at high speeds. The difference is the interpretation of realism, the implementation from the specific developer. Gran Turismo was realistic environments, but the art style is far different from Horizon etc. Take a look at realism mods for Crysis, they look better in some cases than these games. So many ways to tackle "realistic" looks.

Still not quite the same thing. They still know the bounds they can work in, and Photomodes often add more detail than when you are racing. GT even has that mode where it blends with photographs, lol, and other than wall collision, there isn't much in the way of interactivity.Gran Turismo photo mode you can see everything and pause it, what I mean is that alot of these developers are going for "ultra real" their method to achieve it differently, giving it a unique look.

People are still vastly more difficult to sell as "real looking".
Lol, that was necessary. I will say- I really want this game, but despite the unfortunately old school animations, I actually think SoD will be a better game with more depth. But hey, the graphics aren't the best, so f*** it! Amiright? Was thinking about Days Gone and while i'm pumped for it because i think it will be quality like TLOU i'm also kind of down on it for maybe being too much like it and feeling the same. Just glad it's not cartoony looking with bad animations like State of Decay 2 though.

Sounds like a Kojima game.
