DOOM

Does the game need a day one patch? Im on vacation and there is NO Internet on this freaking resort

Is "normal" difficulty as hard as some say it is?
I had no problem with Normal. In fact I didn't start dying until a few hours in when the giant demons showed up. But toward the end of the game you're faced with almost impossible odds and I died many times but it never frustrated me.

Unfortunately yes.

It isn't bad as long as you keep moving. The biggest advantage Doomguy has is his speed and movement. The bad guys either fire projectiles, that you can mostly dodge, or get close and melee attack, which you can get away from because you are faster. "Float like a butterfly, and sting like a bee."

Has anyone went back and played the original Doom games recently?

Wow, I love how unforgiving and unapologetic those games were. It's in your face, raw, and ugly. Yet still fun. I honestly don't think there is another fps like it even now, it just has its own style and feel that I like.

I want to after watching this vid. If you're a FPS fan, you have to appreciate the greatness of Doom. It's the franchise that started it all and there's really nothing else like it today.

Oh noooo, a vacation someplace fancy enough to be called a "resort", how tragic for you :p

Lol, resort doesnt always mean all that much. It's fine, but it is annoying when the appliances/beds/tv/internet aren't as good as I have at home :p. It's just close to the beach, which is what I came for.

Still, haven't beat this game. Just bought Witcher 3 for $25 too. I'll rock it again in a lil while. Not gonna lie though, I really enjoy having a normal heart rate again.

I just picked up the witcher 3 again myself, for $30, on ps4 that is... 100%'d DOOM just the other day though. SP was great, MP is as bad as the beta. DOOM was great though... very fun, love how fast it was... kinda think the crouch should've been replaced with a dodge or scramble move or something, but it was alot of fun...

Finally started it today. Holy freaking crap, I'm loving this game. Soooooooo much fun.

Only complaint, not sure why they applied so much unnecessary motion blur on default. I wound up turning it off completely, looks fantastic now.

Agree. Except on the motion blur. I love that...

I have a quick question regarding doom.

Does Domm us a traditional save game system, as in you save anytime (like fallout 4, Witcher 3), or chessy checkpoint save system. I hate the check point system as I play agmes in small does & no patient or time to replay a session over & over again.

There are checkpoints, but they are very frequent. Pretty much between every lull between encounters.

I thought this was pretty funny, lol. I was afraid I missed recording it, as I was having some technical difficulties :D

I have a strange, unnatural attraction to the post processing in this game. Dat Motion Blur and DOF. Almost like the DX11 effects in Crysis 2. Bokeh for the win!!

Just got the game. There is an offer, 39,99€, for the European Championship (not sure how its related, but I am not complaining) for boxed copy of Doom, so its hard to resist. By comparison the game still sold 59,99€ on steam.

edit:....over 15 hours still downloading from Steam (81%). Steam is shiity slow here. Typically, a AAA game will need at least 1/2 day to download.

I got my ass kicked quite a few times on Normal. Guess I have to admit I sucks. But to be fair, its been a while since I use keyboard mouse (I paly fallout using controller).

The lack of regen health, very fast pace, & limited ammo need time to get used too. The enemies moved fast & jump about. So its takes so adjusting.

But typically, once I get used to the controls, game get easier

First impression:
-Map is neat, can be better, but not that bad really.
-Not a fan of the check point save system. Most time I do not know when the game is saved. Why not just let me save after an area was clear of enemies. Why not let me save multiple files so I can replay certain part again.
- Visuals are decent, maybe slightly better than average.
- I like you can upgrade weapons & armor.

Experience hard crush twice. Have to reset PC. What a downer.

Just picked up my copy woooooo! 5.5GB update though what the heck.

Not sure, bug fixed, and maybe crash fixed

I enjoyed the game but one thing irritates me. If you going to put challenges & secrets, let me able to return to the previous levels. The door is practically there.

Also, I do not understand why can't developer let us save whenever we wanted. Hardly ever certain when the game actually save. At least let us save when there is no more enemies around. I quit or restart check point a few times, & after crashes only to know I was so far back. I think the save text do pop out but 90% of the time, I do not see it. The only obvious one is between levels where it asked you if you wanted to save.

I must be late to the party.

Just got the double jump boots, & its game changing.

I take the game in small dose, & enjoy it better. The save system is still s***ty. Why not just let us save when there is no enemies or lock-down so I can quit when I wanted it, & start where I left off. Never been a fan of checkpoint save.
