Football/Soccer Video Games Discussion

After selling all my players on Thursday, many for way more than the lowest Buy it Now (BIN) price, I rebought them, sold many of them again and rebought most with a few exceptions because I improved a few spots

Went on a selling spree today because the market is high right now...kept most of my lower rated players because I wouldn't have been able to sell them for a profit, but some of the higher ones netted me some big profits. Made almost 90,000 in profit...made almost 25,000 in profit selling Kompany. 20000 on Alderweireld, 10,000 on Costa, 7,800 on Cech, 5000 on Febregas and Otamendi. :) Sitting on almost 280,000 in coin right now. Going to wait for the market to drop again and buy most of them back. Will wind up using the extra coin I have to buy a good RM and turn him into a RW (Mahrez or Mkhitarayan) and possibly do the same on the LM with Payet. Or, I'll invest in Ozil and turn Cazorla from a CAM to a CM. :)

Some highlights of my last few nights.

And one big fail

I would hold off on buying players back.

Last year EA introduced TOTGS which is a bout the best players of the champions league group stage. I would imagine it will go live fairly soon, maybe end of next week or the week after. Given the type of players likely to be included the market should see the biggest drop so far...maybe even crash.

Love that second goal too. The quick first time pass from a cross interception that sets off a quick counter attack and then a lovely calm finish from Costa. Nice.

I think my favorite part of that whole thing was the LB through ball which added a little height to get the ball through and set up the half volley finish.

I started playing a little more of the online drop ins too, might just take a break from FUT for a little while till the crash. But, I'm kicking around the idea of doing an all Spanish team as well....had a nice squad put together but my drunk ass still lost three FUT Championship qualifying first round games last night....playing a live person is a whole different animal...a lot harder to pass because humans guess the passing lanes a lot more than AI does....I really have to learn to adjust and dribble more if the passing lanes look crowded. Its also a ton harder to distribute from the keeper and humans tend to jump the short passing lanes that I use to work the ball up the field when playing single player FUT.

I have been toying with the idea of buying a whole squad from one country...looked at France, Brazil and Spain so far. They all average out around an 83 total for a team of 23 players with enough players at each spot.

France was the most expensive team by far. I estimated that it would cost (at today's market) a little over 400,000. No one really expensive player on that roster but about 8 players 30K or above...most expensive players being Lacazette (60,000) and Benzema (54,000). Really strong Midfield and Attackers, average back line. Pogba left out of the team due to cost.

Spain was the second most expensive at a little over 300,0000. I have 4 or five players already though, one of which was David Silva (@25,000) which saved some money. This would probably be an even better value if it wasn't for the fact that De Gea costs 130,000 which pushes the budget way up. I could save a ton of money by dropping DeGea and getting Jose Reina (@2,500) instead. Would be a quality mid and attack but a weak defense.

Brazil was by far the cheapest...240,000/ Really great back line with a surprisingly cheap Thiago Silva (89) for only 61,000. A little weak up front with the best player being Jonas at an 84...would obviously be a better team with Neymar up the front but he just isn't affordable. Also weakest goalkeeper option out of the group.

My worry about putting a nation team together is that it might be tough to get good chemistry as there will be a lot of leagues/teams variety in the team. I think the route I was going previously with mostly players from top tier EPL teams might be the way to continue to go...I was at a point where I was one player away from having a 100% green starting lineup.

I just don't play FUT. Still doing My Journey and career mode. I finally just started some online club drop-in matches and had to record my first golazo for posterity:

Nice one for my player, Yugo Duckitt.

My Portsmouth teams push for Premier league greatness is almost a reality. Just got myself in to the championship.

In season 1 i bought me a 62 rated keeper called Justin Bijlow for just over 200K, and right now he is 79 rated and pulling in offers over 15 million :bang: He is only 20 years old right now and his position is at 84 already.

Russian MPs Say FIFA 17 Is 'Gay Propaganda'

Some members of Russia's parliament have sent a letter to the state communications oversight agency, alleging FIFA 17's support of a recent LGBT-friendly initiative in England breaks Russia's "gay propaganda law".

And it's not about dudes kissing. Well, not explicitly.

As The Guardian reports, last month England's Premier League ran a weekend campaign called "Rainbow laces", where players across one of the world's most popular sporting competitions would wear rainbow-coloured laces on their boots in support of lesbian, gay, bi and trans players and fans.

Because this was in the game, and because that's literally EA Sports' motto, FIFA 17 joined in and offered an entire rainbow-themed kit free for download.

This has upset some Russian MPs. The country's infamous 2013 "gay Propaganda law" prohibits "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relationships" being available to minors. FIFA 17, being an all-ages sports game, is available to minors, and despite this being a tiny and optional update to the game, has some calling for drastic changes to the game itself.

"Every state has its internal laws and order; they need to be obeyed," former Olympic gold medalist (and current MP) Irina Rodnina said.

A Communist party MP, meanwhile, has argued that EA need to "introduce changes to the programming code or the age classification of this information product."

On the same day the Russians made these comments, EA announced that it had been named as one of the world's best places to work for LGBTQ employees by the Human Rights Campaign.

Bahaha.

Been having some good success with my ask Spain team... However, I just looked at their prices and the market is through the roof... Started selling the whole team... If the prices drop down again I might rebuy them.. Their defense is really good.. Might also do an all Ligue Santander to see if I can improve.

TOTGS(Team of the Group Stage)starts today at 6PM GMT(hour 45 from now).

Aren't they new cards though? How does that effect current cards?

Because people usually sell off their team in order to buy these kind of upgraded players. Which in turn floods the market with lots of players and that usually drives the price down.

I just played the demo, and while I don't care for the sport, I thought it was excellently made. The graphics are fantastic and they captured a real presence and energy.

MLS final had one of the finest keeper saves to preserve OT and end up winning on PK's. Absolutely sensation save by Stephan Frei off Jozey Altidore's header:

I havent purchased Fifa for the last 2 years having chosen PES soccer instead because of what I feel is a far more realistic game. Having said that, the appeal of Fifa anywhere is greatly appealing and a game I plan on getting.
Perhaps the beauty of Fifa on Switch is that it appears that due to the smaller handheld screen, the developers have had to slow down gameplay and reduce the hyper speed ping pong passing.
Ironically this could make the Switch version more realistic in terms of gameplay in comparison to its Xbox One and PS4 cousins.

A slighty muddy offscreen look before we get more videos monday:

I'm really looking forward to this as a massive fifa fan, I've not seen too much in game footage but I'm intrigued to see how it matches up to the XB1/PS4 versions.

I'm planning on buying both which is very costly.

If you think the Switch is going to play a more realistic game of soccer than on X1 or PS4....errr, no.

I don't think anyone is under the illusions that it'll be the same game as the PS4/XB1 versions, it's been very well documented it's not going to match them.

It is however running on it's own designed custom build, it does have 99% features on board and it is a fully supported portable fully fledged FIFA game which has never been done before.....I can't wait!

I was only saying that based on the OP stating the Switch version would be more realistic.

Ohhhhhh!...I see!

I see both sides but I'd doubt the Switch version would be more realistic......I just can't wait to get my hands on it!

Anyone know if there's going to be a demo for Switch users on the 15th like PS4/XB1 users?
