Hideo Kojima launches new studio and partners with Sony. PS4/PC targeted.

Which game will sell better... the next Kojima game or Metal Gear Solid 6?

Just my opinion, but his last good MGS game was 3. Review scores aside, I don't think he brought that perfection design effort to anything games past that and it was hard for a bunch of remakes and rereleases and HD versions to sway the masses once he finally decided to take his show multiplatform. His efforts on Xbox so far are Ground Zeroes which they put a half assed effort into, which is damn near a demo anyways and The Phantom Pain and him constantly rereleasing titles. The Phantom Pain could've planted a decent seed, but now he is back to being exclusive to PS again... I can only see a scenario in 7 years where that cycle starts again.

That is his works as a multiplatform guy with his biggest franchise; so it's not wonder that the majority of his fans are on PlayStation.

Honestly I think he was sick of making MGS games, he's said in the past he was going to move on and he ended up getting death threats for it. It's really hard to bring your A game when you don't feel the passion for the project/series anymore.

I'd love it if he made a dating simulator, but all the dates are robots, except for one, who turns out to be a person controlled by a robot, and you get to hang out with them and do stuff together, and watch Gilmore Girls.

I think he could make a game like that.

BTW, not sure if you guys were aware of how Eurogamer can email you updates about any new game detail you want so long as they tag it. So for example, I will "follow" this game once they release the name of the game. Anytime they mention the game or post updates, you will be instantly notified. Eurogamer does this, as does Gamespot...but I prefer Eurogamer.

Let's be real. The guy got Dev of the year because of his plight with his old company. Gamers and journalists are throwing favor his way out of sympathy for the man. And I noticed the most recent mgs did well review wise. That's great. But if your telling me that isn't a title that saw its hay day long ago, and is just as relevant today as it was decades ago, you're lying to yourself. I was over mgs with 2. That's me...

Thats your problem you played MGS 2 15 years ago and assume they have been rehashing the same game ever since. You need to educate yourself on the topic my friend.

Apparently Kojima is "contractually forbidden" from discussing his departure from Konami. If that's not sketch city then I don't know what is. Konami wants him to keep his mouth shut?

I dont NEED to do anything. I have MGS on my external right now. Been sitting there for months....I havent touched it.

Its funny how defensive some get over MGS thats been hovering within the industry for many, many years. But games like Halo, Forza, Gears etc that havent been in the industry as long should be done away with or put on a hiatus. You guys are too much.

But, yeah. No thanks.

But the thing is, you wouldn't be able to even schedule a date with the "real" girl out of the box (pun not intended). It'd be similar to DLC, except that instead of paying for the DLC, you'd have to go to panty vending machines to buy licensed undies from the game and then scan the code in-game, to find out whether you got the real girl or another night with Bottie Dottie.

And of course, if they release it in the US, it'll need to have guns and some way of placing Mountain Dew and Doritos.

He's perfectly educated. He doesn't like Kojima's work and Kojima's work in this case is not coming to the XBox. Whether those two things are related or not is probably not something that needs another 50 posts. ;)

You would never know though considering how good MGSV turned out.

I have to disagree, while the controls felt nice and the 60 fps was appreciated the story wasn't very good and it seemed like there really was no need for it to be open world because the missions took place in the same few bases over and over again. I'm sure if he had more time/money it would have been a more fleshed out game but honestly it just seemed like two nearly dead locations with a few animals and outposts thrown in just so you could find something while running from the drop zone to the target. I will cut him slack because it was his first open world game but personally I think it was highly overrated and didn't deserve anything more than a 7.5

MGS lives...

Without Kojima, I expect a new MGS would be pretty bland. Say what you will about him, but Kojima had a distinctive style and voice. He always came up with weird sh*t to insert into his games. Without him, MGS will probably become just another ordinary action/stealth game.

This is why I'm looking forward to hearing about his new game. Like many other Japanese developers, he is weird/eccentric/creative.

Xbox Original:
MGS 2
MGS 3
(no MGS 1, as the Xbox didn't exist then)

Xbox 360:
MGS 2 HD
MGS 3 HD
MGS Peacewalker
MGS Rising
(MGS 4 was too big for DVD)

Xbox One:
MGS V Ground Zeroes
MGS V Phantom Pain

All of those were afterthoughts. Makes sense why Xbox fans are so salty over the franchise. Didn't Konami want to put MGS4 on the 360 but Kojima wouldn't let it happen? This is the first gen that a new MGS game released on an Xbox at the same time as PS.

Can we dial back the fanboy console war stuff, please? Not speaking just to you, TD, but to everyone involved in the back-and-forth over the last few pages. We just seem to be poking at each other.

No prob, boss. Wasn't this thread in the multiplat section earlier? Well, looks like you took care of the problem yourself if you moved it. Since most of the people who were picking at each other probably can't post in the PS section anyway.

This really doesn't tell the whole tale.. those were all late ports, then remasters up until MGS Rising, which is barely a MGS game.

Coming to the console late doesn't change the fact that they came to the console. It is a console that is supported by Kojima and Konami.

The good news here is that we are getting another game from Kojima, and he is a great developer and very eclectic as well. His games are not the norm.

Anyone that wanted to play the games probably already had their fill on PlayStation at the time. I'm not saying they didn't do the bare minimum to support, that's all they really mustered IMO. Plus the fact that they made the sequel to the late ports exclusive to PS3, with that said it's hard to call any of that relevant support.

Just my opinion. Bare minimum late ports and snubbed sequels and no other Kojima games on Xbox even though he has developed exclusives for other relevant platforms... It's no wonder people outside of committed PlayStation owners didn't find a reason to jump on his games. That super late Nintendo support where they even put a little effort in barely registered a blip and I don't think it had anything to do with the quality of his games which is great for the most part.

Yep for the 1st time in my life I'm not looking forward to a new MGS game.

I know what you mean. How on earth will Konami find a way to come up with a story line, that seems as if it were written by two stoners, who then tried to rename every single thing in their story after a gay porno?

I guess they could just hire two stoner perverts? :p

Would be cool if this was some sort of online game where we would have cross platform support from our PS4 to those playing on PC.

You have a demo of MGS V...not quite the same thing.
