Infamous: Second Son Discussion

I personally really hope the speaker controller thing goes away. If you're listening on headphones, you miss things, or have to pull them off to hear what's being said. Not a super well thought through feature. Then again, they still haven't provided a way to turn the damn light on the controller off either, so I'm not super surprised.

Change the audio setting to headphones. I believe it remedies this issue.

My only complaint with the controller is how fast the battery dies. Like what the hell Sony? If i didn't have two controllers to swap in and out i'd go crazy. You'd basically have to play with the cord plugged in half the time unless you don't play for more than 3 hour sessions.

Just got the final power. I don't really want to finish this game. I am having too much fun with it. I am definitely going to replay it, but I know it will be bitter-sweet completing this one.

Really enjoying the Paper Trail meta game, makes me want to play good detective game. Really wish more games had creative content like this.

Just finished up my "good" playthrough, truly an awesome game. Going to start my "evil" game on expert and knock out that Platinum next.

Just finished my Evil play through at 100%. That ending was awesome! Truly was evil. Cannot wait for the sequel.

Great, great game.

When do you finally get missions for this? I set up an account, linked it to my gamertag, and did all the karma tests.

I FINALLY got to put some significant time into this game, after only getting to the end of the fight in the freaking lodge at the first of the game on the day of release. I'm having an absolute blast!

Pretty sure it appears shortly after you get out of the intro sequence and are free to roam Seattle. You won't get a cue or anything, but the icon will appear on the map.

Change Time-of-Day

Once you beat the game, a new entry will appear on the options menu to allow you to select the time of day! A very popular request indeed, and one we’re excited to enable for you all.

HUD On/Off
Especially for those amazingly talented screenshot taking folks, we’re including an option to let you turn the HUD on and off.

Cap at 30FPS

Internally we prefer the unlocked frame rate, but we recognize that some players find it distressing. So we’ll provide a way to ensure the game is not bumping up over 30FPS, if that’s how you prefer to play.

Pretty, pretty good patch.

Change of day is sweet. Glad they did that.

It's like a couple of hours in, you can see the Paper Trail icon on the map. Only Part 1 and 2 are up, I think.

Interesting, maybe my account hasn't officially linked with my game yet, didn't see it last night, and the bonus karma was nowhere to be seen either

I would have liked a day/night cycle within the game without having to manually change it but I'll take what I can get. I also wish I could skip the ohhh so boring side missions on my second heroic play-thru. But I need to build karma to access all the good side powers so I'll try and speed through them. The campaign missions are awesome though.

I'm on my second playthrough and have not played any side mission, just got Neon and already karma level 5. Burning through it now, should have my Plat by the weekend playing only a couple hours a night.

I got through my evil playthrough in 5-6 hours but that's just playing the main storyline because I spent a while just doing everything on my hero run, just had my evil trophies left.

I thought I needed to replay the side missions because the main missions wouldn’t give enough karma on their own. Its good to know I can skip them and concentrate on the main story missions which are really fun. I already did every side mission and collected every shard during my first evil play-thru.

The only thing to consider is that it seems much easier to get evil karma (the second play-through) than it does good, but I could be wrong.

It is much easier, all you have to do is kill everyone from sign twirlers, protesters, gang members, civilians, ect. I’m currently replaying for the heroic ending and I thought I would need side mission karma rewards because as a hero the available good deeds are not as plentiful as evil opportunities.

One other thing, I thought there would be different missions depending on your karma alignment. But that doesn’t seem to be the case, the mission structure is the same and the only change is the dialog during cutscenes. I could have sworn Sucker Punch said there would be meaningful differences depending on which path you choose. Bummer. :(

That's not completely true, missions 11 and 17 have unique versions for each persuasion.

I’m talking about mission content differences that gamers and Sucker Punch alluded to by telling us that the game requires two complete play-thrus so as not to miss anything. I guess, in the strictest of terms they were right, you only get to see the different cut-scenes depending on your karma state at the time. But I thought it would be more than just a different decision to make but would feature genuinely unique content specific to the karma alignment the player was on.

I really thought the good missions would be different from the evil side but outside a different choice at the end the missions are exactly the same. Maybe I misunderstood the message before release. Luckily the game-play is a lot of fun outside the wack side missions.

No I meant what I meant. When you get to the 11th and 17th missions, they have two differnent sets of content.

Got the Platinum now just need to finish up Paper Trail and patiently wait for DLC.

Just about to finish up the collectibles then it's time to start my evil play through. Here i come platinum!

I love this game, but hate the Secret Agent missions with a passion.

Yeah they're pretty tedious. At least they're ridiculous easy with Neon, but I know I'll be skipping them on my second playthrough.

Speaking of playthroughs, at 85% on first, so I should be wrapping up tonight. Love the game so far. I do have some issues, like enemy and side-mission variety, but I find the gameplay so damn engaging I can get give those complaints a pass.

Yeah the enemy variety is a bit lacking, but I really enjoy their mobility and the fact that they have powers too. I've already got the Plat, but still find myself going back just to mess around and destroy stuff. Hoping they release some good sized DLC.

Yeah I skipped them on my Evil playthrough, only because as evil you do not get the "slow down time" Neon power

Yeah the hell with that.

Though... perhaps I'll try it by simply murdering all the civilians in the area.

Yeah maybe if you just get your Karmic streak you can just use that to level the whole area and take him out. Might have to try this later
