Microsoft At E3 2018

Ludicrous.

But I'm tired of rehashing 2013. Seems like we revisit this subject every E3.

Fortunately, MS have learned the lessons you and others apparently don't think exist. Thank goodness for that, because they're in a much better position because of it.
I don't think MS had things to learn?

BEFORE XBO released XB was on a downward spiral compared to PlayStation and the 360's last few years paled in comparison to the PS3.

Doing what they have done today still would have PS greatly outselling them.

Which is entirely different than the position you were affirming -- that Sony and MS swapping hardware, policies, price, power, and messaging in 2013 would've made no difference to sales -- but whatever.

Who gives a sh*t? 2013 is long gone, the only thing consistent is people are still full of sh*t, and don’t have any tolerance for other people’s taste/interests.

The flip side is I don’t understand the infatuation with Sony’s overly pretentious, short replay string of titles, but whatever, people like strange and god awful sh*t. Either way, I don’t waste my time pissing in their pool for the hell of it.

Get over it.

Well, I don't agree with some of that, but I do agree we should drop 2013. We've been over that territory ad infinitum. I felt compelled to comment on the idea that 2013 had no impact on sales, because I just found it incredible, but as I said a couple times, I've got no interest in rehashing 2013. It's history. MS has learned from it. That's the main thing.

Let's focus on the present and future. What's coming up, what do you expect, what do you hope for, what do you hope against, etc.

And I'll immediately contradict myself by saying, I hope they focus on the past. The stuff they are doing in the area of BC is extremely impressive and I don't think gets enough press or attention. They really need to shine a spotlight on that at E3. It's something that has made me -- a former Xbot, an apostate -- more excited about Xbox than I've been all generation.

I think MS needs to get more comfortable pulling from their pool of properties to revive or reimagine them for new content. Not this remastered crap. Pull from your lesser used properties and make them great for this generation of gamers. Do that, and other avenues open up from there.

Exactly. They may not have the legacy of the other two manufacturers, but they still have a decent amount of legacy titles to reimagine, as you say.

Announce a Halo Battle Royal style game or something. Have a mode where you play as ODST dropping in and that is the mode that is closest to PUBG in terms of vulnerability and one shot kills.

Then have a Spartan mode where you kick it up a notch as super soliders, where 1 shot kills aren't as common and obviously your MJOLNIR armor and shields can sway the outcome of any battle.

I'd play the hell out of that.

100 spartans drop out with only their undies on...

Any guesses on the type of game?

My ideal gears spinoff would be a mix of The Division,MGS5 and Lord of the Rings.

Its set during the first 6 months of the locust war, you play as Dennis Gears, a down on his luck soldier. Hes part of a squad whos raven gets shot down and hes the only survivor. He cant radio out as hes in dark territory.

It would be the equivilent of Frodo walking to Mordor.

He has to travel 75 actual size miles, dodging locust, scavenging supplies, avoiding patrols. Fending off cannibal stranded. It has a very lonely feel like Halo 3: ODST. Every 100 meters travelled he'll have to fight tooth and nail to find his way back to his hot sexy wife Denise Gears.

In all seriousness, Splash Damage was working on a third person horror game. I wonder if they reworked it for Gears?

Also they seem to specialize in multi-player. So it could a Fortnite clone of some kind.

2013 will live on forever and it has nothing to do with people specifically hating Xbox or whatever. I mean, people still talk about $599, ridge racer, and giant enemy crab and that wasn't 1/100th of the f*** up that Microsoft achieved with the X1 reveal. The internet never forgets.

Wouldn’t sonys be a bigger and longer lasting mess being as it’s still the initial go to reference?
