Are they still anti-Gmail lol. I get that they don't want people using "throw away" e-mails but come on... I don't even have anything else other than work and I'm not using that.

Right, the "paid email" thing; I forgot about that (for gmail). The trouble with the comcast account is that I registered with that during the brief period of open registration, a couple days ago (it lasted a few hours, then they closed it down). That registration never went through, but now they've got that email address in their database. So it tells me that address is already in use.
Looks like I'm stuck until they open registration to free email accounts. I understand it's a security measure. It's fine. I'm in no rush to post. I was probably a member at GAF for 4 years before I posted. I mainly just read.

Ha, no, not fabulously wealthy. Financially independent, though, which is nice. I downshifted to part-time work about two months ago; that has been a nice change.
PSA to anyone browsing gaf, I'm sitting here blindly browsing gaf earlier today while watching Stranger Things Season 2, barely paying attention to the thread (it was a gaming thread) and next thing you know my hole screen is covered in giant pictures of double stuffed anus and c*** n balls jizz all over the place. So yeah, some of those good guys leaving gaf are posting crazy NSFW stuff into random threads that'll likely end up getting someone who is browsing from work into unforeseen trouble.
If you're visiting that forum at work, you might want to disable images or just not browse until they get their s*** straightened out or just avoid in general. Noticed other threads mentioning it there so its probably not a one-off thing at the moment.

Gaffers still doing this?
The number of locked threads has dropped like a rock, since most immature posting have thinned out, but I have never seen any of these crude sex posts. Must be too late.
One thing that's really weird about Gaf is that there have been tons of locked threads since this whole debacle started, yet they just do that.... lock it. Why not just outright delete the thread to clean up the forum?
It's amazing how gaf has changed. The sentiment is different, and you can see by the threads, there's lots of new-ish kinds of threads with people trying to get action into the forum.
One thing that was BS..... "Our mods will be anonymous, will be under modbot". That BS didn't last long. I see mods in red font already.
I skimmed resetera, and there's quite a bit of action. Don't think I'll bother. I like posting here for the conversation. Other boards for unique and interesting topics this site doesn't have the critical mass for.
It's been vacated. Almost all of the best posters have left. Bruno posted in the UK sales thread, and everyone thanked him for staying. It was kind of sad/pathetic. Everyone has gone. GAF has been gutted.

No wonder. I was at Neogaf this afternoon and damn it's dead lol.
But anyway, who owns ResetEra? Because whoever owns that site will be making bank someday.
I could be wrong, but I think it's a joint venture among some of the admins, maybe other parties as well. They set up an LLC. I don't think it's a single owner like GAF.
Yes, I remember reading that somewhere. They wanted to make sure that not one person owns the site.
I'm glad the new site is doing so well. The entire community didn't deserve to suffer over the actions of a single person.
I like how they're handling moderation. So different than GAF. One example:

Got to say. ResetEra is a nice forum. Well now i have two places to lurk until GAF eventually dies completely or whatever.
Wow. On avg, it looks like Resetera has about 7-8x the traffic.
There's about 10 times more posts on ResetEra than GAF.
How does someone get web traffic on a 10 minute basis? Is there a free website tracker out there?
Evilore posted a new message, saying moderation has been "restructured from the ground up" and will now be "transparent" and without agenda or ego. I have my doubts. Last week, the moderators were all anonymous. Now everything is supposedly "transparent"? Hmm. It's good that he's backing away from the unaccountable, anonymous moderation, but I don't really buy the "everything is transparent" and "no egos" now. I don't even know who the mods are, and how many are just the old ones, returned.
He also plans to restore the political and social OT forum, but insists that they won't be tolerating the one-sided discussions. He suggests "everyone get along."

You guys should go try to take over GAF. With most of the regular/best posters gone, the place has a lot more Xbox threads. I count 6 Xbox threads on the first page, twice as many as PS threads. Now is the time for a coup.
