Official Thread New PS4 Owners Thread

Found some stuff out. Turns out ps4 supports m3u playlists. It sounds silly but this is a huge feature for me. This was really a selling point. I don't care how good an in-game soundtrack is, I'm going to get sick of it. I can't wait to play No Man's Sky with some progressive rock blasting in the background.

Also it seems that digital or physical doesn't matter disk space wise, just like X1.

Now I have to buy a new headset to get good sound. I know the usb stuff works but not as well it looks like. I'm already in the dog house with Mrs Kerosene31 anyway so may as well go nuts.

I forgot too, they wouldn't let me have Kerosene31, but would kerosene31. Are gamertags case sensitive? Who in the *bleep* uses my tag other than me? Although I wonder if it goes way back to the SOE days with EQ and PS? If it does, that was probably me :)

Still getting used to the controller. Actually I like the feel a lot better than I thought I would, but the buttons are killing me.
 
Yeah, it takes a while to get used to the buttons. I've been using it for 2 years now, and I still get stumped between square and circle (I was mainly a 360 gamer last gen, and Xbox the gen before that).

That touchpad doesn't do much. Or, I should say, developers haven't done much with it. They mostly just use it as an extra button.

I STILL can't get used to the buttons. Circle/X and Square all f*** with my mind. I keep having to look at the controller.
 
Yeah, it is not easy as someone who has played on every Xbox and never owned a PS4. Triangle I get (it points up lol) but otherwise I'm still learning.

At least the button layout is pretty consistent game to game.

I played some FPS games and other than the buttons I felt fine. I had to add in my Kontrol Freeks on the sticks but otherwise it felt fine.

I've got bloodborne and no mans sky planned, but I have no idea what else I'll buy for it. the ps3 had the advantage of digital ps1 and 2 games, and it's only because of bloodborne and no mans sky that I'm doing this.

If anyone wants to help, any exclusives (multiplats go to the xbox cuz thats just where I'm settled) that'll make this thing more than a 2 game box? I've looked at past and soon to be released games and nothings jumping out at me quite yet.

If likes Platform / action games can check the new Ratchet & Clank.
Then are some Ps3 ports that may be worth checking unless already have played them on Ps3 as Journey and The Last of Us Remastered.
For sports games have MLB The Show 16 that I have heard much good about, never was much into sport games sow have not tried it myself.
Infamous Second Son if like hero / action games.

If JRPGs are your thing, you'll have alot of them this year and next exclusively on the ps4.

I'm in the same boat. I have yet to play an exclusive yet. No Man's Sky will change that though for sure. I don't want to get too bogged down with other games anyway.
 
I must be some kind of joyless sh!t-pail cuz those links, the suggestions, and my own delving aren't doing it.

I mean I know I made a good enough decision simply based on bloodborne. It'll just be a slow process I guess. I got some friends to bs with on multiplats I missed on the xbox anyway.

Sound like you won't get much use out of your PS4. If you've looked at the whole catalog plus everything coming up in 2016, and you can only find two games that interest you, then PS4-style exclusives clearly aren't your thing. If I had a console where only 1 or 2 games appealed to me, I'd trade it in pretty quickly (after playing those games).
 
Up all of yours with your dad voices, I'm keeping the bloody thing. You just want all these JRPG's for yourself. I AM UNREASONABLE AND DETERMINED

I'll work it out. I bought a ps3 only for mgs4 and found other games.
 
Yeah I'll find games. There's always indies that aren't full exclusives but take forever to get ported to another console for some reason.

Plus, I like having the ability to choose where I play my multiplats. Some games just get better content on one over the other.

I always say exclusives on both sides are always a little overrated today as opposed to the past. By and large, the games I play are multiplats.
 
Funny how these guys are dissing PS4 like no tomorrow while I've been joyfully finishing Ratchet today. Yet Val gives them a free pass and comes after me as a Sony hater. You just can't make up stuff like this...only at The Union!

Come to think of it, I own nearly every PS4 exclusive they have released starting with inFamous Second Son. I've actually enjoyed most, especially Until Dawn. I think the only 2 that I didn't like were DriveFlub and Bloodbore. As soon as I finish R&C I am going to give The Order:1886 a playthrough.

Yes, I am a hater. Totally busted, lol.

Meh. Don't worry about what others think and you have no reason to defend yourself. You are fortunate enough to enjoy all the gaming options out there and you take advantage of all that opportunity. Just keep playing what you are playing. It's a win win for you.

I gave up trying to "explain" my multi console lifestyle and chose to just enjoy it and it's a much richer experience for me in this hobby.

  • Ratchet and Clank - my favorite game of the year, so far
  • Uncharted 4 - right around the corner, likely a strong GOTY candidate
  • The Last Guardian - have faith
  • Persona 5 - incoming quirky masterpiece
  • The Witness - highly acclaimed puzzler
  • PlayStation VR and its catalog of games
  • Gran Turismo Sport - zoom zoom
  • Nier: Automata - another quirky wonder
  • Firewatch
  • Gravity Rush 2
  • MLB: The Show
  • Paragon (from Epic)
  • Street Fighter 5 (hey, they can't all be gems)
  • Alienation - getting very good reviews
  • The Tomorrow Children
  • Dreams - preloaded creative playground, people will come up with lots to share
  • Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Pretentiousness
  • No Man's Sky - unique, probably overhyped, but very ambitious and intriguing
 
Oh I know you like the ps4(strong closet fan) Oblong its just you are mad you do hence all your trolling. I have a strong dislike for Xbox and it because the way its handled has made me a hater and its not like I didn't taste the waters b4 feeling this way oh and this is open for change as I am a multiformant gamer.
The others who are in here saying negative things are tasteless and harmless.

Yup. We do thread bans more often than we do site bans. We don't have the level of trolling that we used to, so thread bans are enough in most situations.
 
Is it usually awhile before MLB goes on sale? I want to get it but I would hate to buy and see it go on sale right after. It will be nice to play a baseball game. My last one was NCAA (formerly MVP from EA) on the original Xbox :surprise:

The Show generally sees a sale about June or July.
 
Ok, my big gripe with the PS community is the lack of mics. Come on people. You should not be playing a game like R6 Siege without a mic. Out of 11 other players, I rarely see 1-2 with a mic.
