You are a bser and its tiring.

You can question the relevance of his facts. If you have evidence to prove they're incorrect factually, you can provide that. But Andy, who is about as much an anti-Sony hater as I am the Queen of England, is agreeing that when he checks, the results are pretty similar to Hedon's results. You're entitled to your own opinion, but we all have to share the same facts.

It reminds me of something I heard recently about lawyering, which I just looked up now to get the quote correct:
“When the facts are on your side, pound the facts. When the law is on your side, pound the law. If you have neither the facts nor the law, hammer the table.”

You're pounding the table. It may make you feel better, but you're not making an intelligent or convincing argument by doing so. Andy's points about why the numbers may be the way they are would be a much more reasonable use of your time.

I posted the link which I have checked and can be checked.
Simple really.

It has been checked, twice, and the checking shows it to support Hedon and to contradict you.

If you're going to call someone a liar, have some evidence to back it up.

All you have provided are links that refute your own statements.

Wouldn’t it be little to no effort for Val to just screenshot it, if that’s the case?

Apparently it's too much trouble to even say it.

But I don't think it's a question of effort. He just doesn't want to admit he's wrong.

Damn, those are some impressive records being broken. Best debut ever for a PS exclusive (that includes the big third party exclusives back in the PS2 era). Most hardware and software sold in any April for a decade. Wow.

In other NPD news...

  • MLB 18: The Show held steady at #3 (same as March). It is the year's second best-selling exclusive to date, trailing only God of War. MLB seems like one of those frequently overlooked exclusives that turns in a solid performance every year.
  • Yakuza 6 at #17. Mat P says that was surprisingly good (for this series in the US).
  • Sea of Thieves fell from #2 in March to #18 in April. That's a big drop, and it's consistent with what we've seen in the UK. It's still #3 on the Xbox charts.
  • A Way Out is holding its place well (15 in March, 16 in April). Remember it's a revenue-based chart, and A Way Out is $30
  • Labo did "fine," which is better than it did in the UK.
  • 6 out of 10 of the games in the Top 10 are exclusives.
  • The previous record holder for PS exclusive revenue was GTA San Andreas on the PS2.

Based on that last stat, God of War sales are estimated at between 1.6 and 1.8 million. NPD is roughly 33% of WW for Sony, so that would put WW sales between 4.8 and 5.4 million.

Zhuge: "Yakuza 6 has officially reached niche status in the US. Which is a really really good thing for the series. Higher opening than the other PS4 games. Already doing better than the PS3 games ever did."

Not bad for a game that released the same day as God of War.

God of War over 5 million sold in the first month.

Some more info on those weekly UK sales.

  • Detroit debuted above Beyond Two Souls but well below Heavy Rain, which sold 4 times as much in its debut week.
  • Detroit is the 10th PS4 exclusive to rank #1 since start of 2017.
  • State of Decay was close behind Detroit, with only 4K separating the two (although Detroit was a $60 title and SoD $30).
  • God of War actually increased 5% in sales, but it dropped in the ranking because of new releases and a surge in FIFA sales.

So, kind of a fair/meh reception for Detroit, at least in the UK first week. Not great. That's without digital, of course. I think Cage's reputation and the #me too related stuff took a bite out of their momentum. Plus it's coming off of Beyond, which kind of stunk, so people were more hesitant. These type games aren't as unique as back when Heavy Rain released, so that probably plays a role, too.

These are UK monthly charts for May. We usually post weekly charts here, but this one is monthly.

UK’s top ten games for May 2018:
  1. God of War
  2. FIFA 18
  3. Far Cry 5
  4. Donkey Kong County: Tropical Freeze
  5. Detroit: Become Human
  6. State of Decay 2
  7. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  8. Fallout 4
  9. Lego Marvel Superheroes 2
  10. Dark Souls Remastered
Despite a trio of strong games having launched last week, God of War (released 4/20) wasn’t threatened in the monthly charts, and managed to keep its top spot in May. Sales for Sony Santa Monica’s hit were only down 55 per cent month-on-month, a very healthy drop.

Sony remained the top publisher in May, with Nintendo being a very (very) close second.

Meanwhile, another PS4 exclusive, Detroit: Become Human, made it to No.5 despite only having been on shelves for two days when GfK closed its report on May 26th.

Xbox One exclusive State of Decay 2, having released on May 22nd, debuted at No.6.

Between Donkey Kong, Hyrule Warriors and usual top sellers like Mario Kart, Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild, the market share for the Switch increased month-on-month.

Last Week This Week Title
4 1 FIFA 18
1 2 Detroit: Become Human
6 3 Far Cry 5
5 4 God of War
New Entry 5 Sega Mega Drive Classics
New Entry 6 Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Collection
7 7 Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition
2 8 State of Decay 2
3 9 Dark Souls Remastered
9 10 Fallout 4

Some commentary about that weekly UK chart.

"More recent hits are still faring well in stores, with Detroit: Become Human holding on to No.2 despite a 46 per cent drop in sales - which is to be expected in a game's second week on shelves.

"Far Cry 5 actually saw a boost this week, up three places to No.3 thanks to a 36 per cent lift in sales, while God of War only suffered a 19 per cent sales dip and climbs one place to No.4."

So, that's a nice hold for Detroit. God of War continuing to look very strong. State of Decay dropped from 2 to 8, which is not unexpected for a second week, although it's a steeper drop than Detroit's. Sea of Thieves bobbed up the charts from 28 to 15, likely due to bundling. PUBG continues to hover in the teens. Labo continues to tanko.

Fortnite campaign game at number 2? That is pretty good. I heard it was going free this year. Not that I want it, but for a game with such low ratings and supposedly going F2P, I am surprised it sells that well.

SoD2 over two million players in less than two weeks. Still #6 on the charts after almost 3 weeks. Not bad for a "mediocre" game with bad reviews.

Will be interesting to see actual sales numbers. Most of the 2 million is likely gamepass. It's #8 on the charts, if we're talking UK.

2. Switch (#21)

Looks like something is still wrong between Amazon and Sony.

With SoD2 at #1 on XBL, and #6 on XBL, sounds like it's doing rather well in the US at least. Assuming that is the Microsoft/Xbox Store that Wolf listed in the US?

I looked, and Amazon nor Sony have not responded to inquiries as of why their games, etc are no longer available direct through Amazon. Though it seems Amazon support wasn't aware of it until people called them about the pre-orders.

That is way odd.
