Official Forza 5 discussion v2.0

I think Naty is a bit concerned for that "other" game and just manufacturing lighting flaws in FH2 in his FO-HEAD!. FH2 looks incredible....AND its open world!
Has naty (aka Dried Mangos since he quietly changed his user name a few months ago), did one of his comparisons yet? He's been on such an X1 vs PS4 comparison binge lately, I'm just wondering if he's done an FH2 vs DC comparison yet..... res, frame rate, club size, game world size, weather, car destruction and physics, number of cars etc....

They could do that comparison in the thread that was already created in the multiplatform section comparing the two. Not sure if that thread got closed though.

lol, show me where I did my X1 vs PS4 binges. If anything, I've been warming up to the X1 since Phil took over. But you wouldn't know that through your selective readings.

Forza Horizon 2, in the end, will not have cars that look as good as the competing DriveClub (or environment). It's open world, with more cars, longer tracks. There are lots of cars on the highways and streets all being generated as well. DC is more of a linear/corridor racer, and it should have better looking cars when complete. How many cars race online in FH2 and DC?

Exactly. Comparing open world vs small scale games are typically the same.

Open world is more content, but visually is a notch below. Smaller scale games should be the opposite.

FH2 clearly has more content, scale and mechanical damage, but both have weather, day/night cycles and both devs are touting dynamic lighting. However they are both 1080/30. What DC can win though is better texture/lighting. Given the year delay and smaller scale of the game, it should be a given textures and effects are better on DC, but we shall see how much better.

& PS4 has better performance. My opinion is, DC looks next gen (the visuals), FH2 doesn't (except in non gameplay)

Anywhere, its getting tired, even for myself. I know people keep keep murmuring "Gameplay, gameplay" , but whats the motivation of buying a next gen console if it doesn't look significantly better than last gen?

Anyway, that's my last post regarding visuals. Going to watch world cup football now.

it does look significantly better than last gen though lol.. you might need to go play horizon 1

DC looks as good as Horizon 2, not better. it wont even have dynamic weather at launch

Lets be clear, I will buy FH2 over DC, as I like the open world idea, & Forza fan since the first, but DC just looks better, & it saddened me a little that FH doesn't look quite as good.

It's typical that open world games pale in comparison (graphically) than closed world games. You will never get them to be on par, graphically unless you had some magical computer with zero performance limits, lol.

repeating yourself doesnt make you right. i seen DC footage uncompressed and nothing about it impressed me either. yet when i saw rain effects in Horizon 2 it did impress me.

have you seen DC gameplay? or are you talking based on trailers

I have.

Its my opinion. I never claimed it as fact.

can you atleast elaborate as to what makes DC "next gen" to you?
The lighting/shading mainly. The environments feels 'flat' in Horizon, while it has more 'volume' in DC. But I think it has to do with the engine than hardware. Anyway, I am watching England vs Italy (England play better at the moment...) which I assume some of you are watching also, so we just leave it as it is now.

Anyway, I rephrase myself, I did not meant DC looks substantially better than FH2, but the better lighting/shading(opinion) make it more next gen looking.

Anyway, like Menace said, no need to always compare. I will give the visual debate to rest. Both have their charm.

DC looks more photorealistic while FH2 is more cartoony/arcade looking. Nothing wrong with that but if you were to put them both side by side, I'm sure the majority would pick DC as more photorealistic in terms of visuals.

If this game is even just as good and fun as the first one, XB1 gamers who've never played the series will be in for a treat. :)

Has there been any mention of a demo being released soon?

So awesome! So we have seamless single and multi player, Driveatars, dedicated servers and open world? Oh, and its 1080p and 30FPS with dynamic weather and day/night cycles and looks beyond gorgeous! Probably the best open world racer of recent memory, seems to me. Although the 1080p argument takes a back seat to the features.

1,000 player clubs too. No doubt overkill, but with such a large club size, every person on this forum can join, any invited random online buddy, personal friend or family member can join and there will still be plenty of room.

I'll be getting this along side Mordor.

:( Damnit!... Just thinking Arkam Knight wont release this year. That was one of my MUST HAVE's and the second game I was going to purchase when I got my XBO this fall.

The lighting/shading or hardware has nothing to do with it really. The lighting on FH2 is just as good as that in DC. Maybe even better. Your issue, for the most part, seems to be with art direction. Forza has always had that exaggerated colour look. It looking a little flatter is likely a direct result between the world differences. One is fully open world. The other is track based.

I love the choice of going to Italy, I hope they include one Lake Garda or Como as that would be brilliant to drive around.

That "Flat" impression is definitely because it's open world. When you can drive anywhere, you aren't going to be directed to the best lighting conditions like you can do on a closed track. Especially a "fake" one. This is one reason real world tracks in racing games tend to look bland in comparison to "fantasy" tracks.

Granted FH2 is all "fantasy" because it's not 1 to 1, but you still run into the situation of having no control over the view of the player at specific times.

All that said, I'd still give the visual edge to Drive Club( slight edge, mind you, they are both pretty), but I think FH2-at least in the trailer- has moments of photo-realism that FM 5 didn't quite achieve. I also suspect FH2 will be a better game, though I hope they are both great. I love the Music Festival angle :)

Turn 10 and Playground talked up their lighting system. But it doesn't seem to look any different than Forza 5.

The game still looks great visually. Very crisp looking. But I have to agree with Menace and Starseeker here. At least on what has been shown so far.

If you don't think the lighting effects are amazing, then download and watch this HD video. Pay attention to the refections on the wet road.

Not a single piece of new footage or a single piece of new Info. I understand not everybody will have seen all the E3 videos, but all that footage is from them.

Still, it looks very good. Day one for me.
