Ori and the Blind Forest

No fast travel, but honestly it is a good thing because the enemies you fight along the way help you level up your ability tree faster. Also, once you get double jump, then bash attack, and then triple jump, you can really fly through each area to get where you want.
Cool maybe I'll keep pushing until I get one or two of those upgrades.

Game is awesome and a pleasure to look at. Even though i have died countless times.

So i'm about 2 and a half hours in and about 110 deaths.. Anyone else as good at this as me?

I was at 107 deaths at 2:45. Then I decided to go down a path a little too soon and a half hour later I have added 40 deaths. :smash:

Over half my deaths would be from trying to get to a place where i needed double jump, so close to getting between the walls i thought my timing was off but 30 odd deaths later i decided to move on.

is this good then or are people on a hype train??? I haven't pressed the 'buy' button yet!

Its not hype. For me its up there with Super Metroid, Castlevania SOTN, and Shadow Complex. However if your not into those type of 2D games or challenging platformers I can't say you'll get into it.

Did you make it though Forlorn Ruins? that just cost me like 100 deaths

Keep in mind that I generally do not like Indie side-scrolling platform games, but this game, well, it is fantastic. Level design, music, controls, gameplay are all top notch. It's pretty too.

From what I've heard Moon studios is made up of industry vets from around the world. I'd consider it more like a small studio game than an indie since the overall production is so very top notch. I can't say I've seen a more beautiful 2D game ever.

Doesn't matter who makes up the team. Ori is an indie game.

Yea but if I go and make a crappy game am I an Indie? To call some of these developers indies just feels like I'm lowering their accomplishments to an amateur level. That's just me though, I just fell like I'm disrespecting some of them when I call them indie.

Indie doesn't actually mean amateur. It simply means a small studio that makes game for digital distribution. A lot of the time they have limited financial backing and no publisher, but that is not a steadfast rule.

I thought it technically meant people who ware fedoras and drink espressos and talk about things they can't be bothered to actually do .

Well, it doesn't look like I'll get to go back to Forlorn Ruins. Kinda sucks because I was at 98% there and 100% everywhere else so far. I guess I'll have to play through again.

Looks like you've completed basically the whole game?

How long did it take you?

I haven't finished it yet, but it appears I've spent 22 hour so far this playthrough; I explore everything I can with a lot of trial and error.

Nice.

In your opinion, let's say someone finished the game without trying to explore everything... let's say some exploring and stuff, but not tons. How long would the game be?

Just trying to gauge game length as I wouldn't be going after all secrets and stuff.

I'd say some of that comes down to your proficiency with the game, because it doesn't hold your hand and does require some skill. I would say that playing casually on your first time would be between 6 to 12 hours depending on that.

Well, just finished it. It really is a fantastic game that hits on all points. Well, I'm firing it back up for a second playthrough.
