Official Thread Playstation VR

Played some more Rigs last night. Its a pretty cool game, but man, I got nauseous while playing and for about an hour after that. I will probably give it another go, but if that happens again, I could be done with it. Of course, this reaction might have carried over from playing End Space on Gear, earlier in the night. I also noticed that the game had "blinders" to make it less nauseating. I actually found that taking the blinders off actually reduced the problem for me, to some extent.

Looks SOOO much better in VR, but he gets the point across

This will be my next VR game.

Some of these games on PSVR look downright amazing and VR really makes you appreciate the visuals with the scale of everything.

Geez, I gotta get that Superhot VR. The slobbering over this is enough that it seems that anyone who has a headset must pick up a copy. Is it digital only?

WTF?

Don't get me wrong, GT Sport is a must have for me and I can't wait to do some VR action with it but that video almost looks like Sea of Thieves cartoony. And why is there only 1 other car on the track...please tell me there is more than just 1v1 in VR mode.

Yep, I don't think it's hardcopy. It's a must have though, you need alot space though, 10ft

Yeah, this just an add on. I've heard impressions that it looks really good on pro.

And that engine sound? Maybe it's just that particular car. I really wish the Forza team had VR to play with. They have always been super accurate with physics and sound. Plus they are always down to add peripheral stuff like they did with Kinect... and they even had a new sim game to come out with shiny new hardware. I sort of get why MS is waiting, but I personally would dig the sim aspects of FMS in more VR over 4K. Maybe next year. :meh:

Dirt Rally is my go to VR racer, looks great and its a full game experience.

LOL, that was almost me last night.

I have been playing PSVR since it came out and gone through a dozen different games. I usually play without anyone around and for the most part it has been a safe experience. On Resident Evil I would find myself getting twisted around sometimes and find myself end up 90 degrees from facing the TV. On Holoball I would work up a nice sweat playing imaginary racquetball. And then last night happened....

SuperHot VR is the bomb
.

Until you have felt like you are being shot at (and have the ability to dodge bullets) then you haven't experienced the persuasiveness of VR. I almost lost my balance numerous times trying to get out of the way of bullets and punches coming at me. I can only imagine what I must look like playing this game...ducking, doing the Neo Matrix back-bend, anything to avoid getting killed. It is like you life is on the line and then you laugh after you fail once your brain realizes you survived. And then the pleasure of dancing through space killing the baddies is another story unto itself. I have no idea how quickly this will become stale but I gotta say out of the gate this is one bad ass VR title.

Grabbing over your shoulder to switch weapons in Farpoint is awesome. Such a little touch that adds so much.

So I ended up downloading Super Hot last night. Man, about 2.5 hrs after starting it up... me, just sweating, and not knowing how much time had passed. I completely lost all sense of reality. "Just one more go. I can beat this round", I kept saying. What an experience it is! Very cool! I love the intentional late 80's/early 90's vibe going on.

You guys weren't kidding about needing a lot of space! I only had a couple brushes against furniture, but it also helped that I had a small rug that I could feel with my toes, so I always new where to recenter.

It really is amazing, one of best games of the year for me. Few of tips I learned:

You can stop bullets with any object you hold, using it as a "shield" even guns will stop bullets and not destroy them. I use it constantly.

Moving slowly is very beneficial to plan attacks.

When throwing objects, it's better to "push" the object toward the enemy rather than throw overhead. I always aim a little lower than my intended target as well.

You can take weapons away from enemies close quarters, just reach out and grab them.

When using the shotgun, try to line up two enemies with a single shot to save ammo.

Ammoless weapons can be thrown as weapons.

Most of that you probably already know, but it could be helpful if not.

So I just bought PSVR (see impulse buy deal above).

Do I need a move controller? 1 or 2?? I was looking at the farpoint gun thing and it seems sold out everywhere.

I haven't really been keeping up on the PSVR. Where should a noob start?

I love Superhot, but already played it in non-VR. Might try it again though.

Yeah, I haven't had a chance to pick it up again, but I did learn most of those things... eventually. Ones of my favorite discoveries was that I could actually slice bullets in thin air with the knife. Of course, once I realized that I could sit completely still and everything else would freeze, it changed my style of gameplay completely! This is especially true at the beginning of each new level, when I hag no idea what to do.

I still really suck at throwing objects in the game, so I hope your suggestion helps.

The best experiences I have played so far, really need to be played with 2 Move controllers. If you can get 2 PS3 sticks for cheaper, do that! I did feel a bit ripped off for getting the new 2 pack. You need these for any games that require using your hands to grab things or aim and shoot.

I've only been a user for about a month but so far, Batman Arkham VR (short, but so awesome) and Super Hot (my mind is blown) are my favorites!

Nice!

Good starter games are Batman VR and VR worlds and you need the move controllers, yes. I would play batman first.

Eve Valkyrie is really good if you like online multiplayer shooters. Don't pay more than $30 if you can.

Farpoint is awesome, but sold out almost everywhere. The gun makes it more immersive than any other title imo.

Super hot in VR is transformative. Literally. Might as well be a different game.

You like driving games so I might recom Dirt Rally if you already have a compatible wheel. Driveclub isn't bad, but it can be ugly visually.

Resident Evil 7 is a must, even if you don't like horror. It's absolutely incredible. My GOTG.

Also, be aware, not all VR games are created equal, so don't sell immersive as good as others.

That reminds me, I still have RE7 in the wrapper. I wanted to try Super Hot first.

I'm looking forward to getting Farpoint at some point, but I'm probably going to wait and see what other games become available for the gun, then get it cheaper. So many peripherals!

It's kind of fun to be part of another subculture within gaming, with VR. However, I do think it's only a matter of time before it goes big time. I'm currently listening to Ready Player One on audiobook, so that's definitely jazzing me up about the whole thing.

Yep. I got sucked into the whole "VR's a gimmick" stuff and it really pushed me away. So glad I gave it a shot, its the first thing in gaming I can honestly say is mind blowing beyond the first Super Mario 64 moment.

Yeah, it'll go big time for sure. Only a matter of time. 95% of the disbelievers haven't even tried VR in my experience. I read Ready Player One a while back and I know what you mean!

Are you getting Skyrim or Doom VR?

Thanks. Normally I research things pretty thoroughly before buying, but I've been on the fence with VR. I saw that deal and wasn't sure how long it would last. So I kind of bought and then am looking at "what to play" next.

Kind of disappointing the Farpoint gun thing is sold out.
