Yeah, $30 a month for 55 channels and $30 a pop to rent streamed movies is in the same ballpark...

It was like $50 and that was for the access version. A lot of channels were missing, too. PlayStation Now was even more expensive as it didn't even have a subscription option. With 4K just getting it's footing, expect prices to be high. They'll plummet the more mainstream it becomes.

Dude, seriously?!?? Do you know what a FULL $60 gaming experience is?

Full Game - The Golf Club, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour Golf, Hot Shots Golf
Tech Demo - 100 Foot Robot Golf (like 1 course, 4 robots to choose from, 3 clubs in the bag, no tournaments, no seasons, etc)

Full Game - FIFA 17, Pro Evolution Soccer 17
Tech Demo - Headmaster (you head the ball into a goal...yes, that's it! No teams, players, seasons, tournaments, online play, etc)

I could do this another 45 times but why waste my breath on idiocity?

As for your other point, you said movies are still movies whether it be 1080p or 4K. Well guess what? So are games. The added crispness doesn't change gameplay or anything else. It's no different. Don't tell us movies don't benefit from a 4k experience and then turn around and make it like there is this big incentive to step up to a Pro.

Now it's fine if you do want to say there is a big incentive, but if you do you are going to have to also concede that it was a big mistake for Sony not to add a 4K movie drive as well. Be consistent.

Soooo, i take it Pokémon Go isn't a real game because THAT wasn't $60 neither. However, it is most definitely hours of game play in the experience....but you neglected to mention that part. Instead, you focus your attention on demos that were PURPOSELY designed as 5 minute demos to ensure that everyone got enough time in the HMD for VR to deliver its impact from the experience. The words of Sony and the reps, btw. Great job there, buddy! You fail.

Regarding your TV comment, by getting a Pro, it opens up more options for the user IN CASE they want to upgrade later on, rather that be a 4K TV or VR. The option is still on the table and their games are being enhanced while they are waiting to make that decision. If you only have a BluRay player, how does having movies help your gaming experience?

Pokémon GO definitely wasn't $60.

Prices will range from $10 to $60. I'm sure games like Infinite Warfare or Star Wars are one of those or even Gran Turismo Sport. The highest duration I've heard for gameplay was 5 hours, and that was for Resident Evil 7 or Paranormal Activity. I forget which one.

I guess I'll just stop complaining about it.

It doesn't matter in the end for me anyways, since I'll already have an S and a Scorpio, and they'll both have it, so I'm covered in my household.

My PS4 will be purely for offline single-player gaming and maybe Remote Play.
we haven't played on xb since ki... you and a few here its been awhile with.
U get a p4 u best get on there!

I don't think Pokemon Go will probably not work on home consoles. And I definitely don't think I want freemium games on my PS4 Pro.

I've decided to skip the X1 S and "Go Pro" on Nov 10th.

It sucks that the there's no 4K Bluray. But I'd rather have the improved IQ for gaming.

If the Pro had a 4K drive I would imagine a lot more people would go that route. I mean I don't see the point in getting an S in that scenario when Scorpio is out next year.

X1/PS4>>>Pro>>>Scorpio. That would be the most logical upgrade path, but no 4K UHD drive muddies the waters...and they did it just to try and strengthen their position in a hugely crowded standalone 4K UHD player market.

The simple fact that Sony is offering 50 games at launch should tell you something. New consoles usually have 8-15 games at launch because they are full gaming experiences. The number 50 tells you that most are nothing but short tech demos as I called them in the original post you ridiculously attempted to challenge. Or you can go to just about ANY article discussing the challenges faced by VR and lack of content is always one of the bullet points. /youfail

As for your second point, having movies helps your gaming experience by giving you more options with your purchase. Anyone who plays games also watches movies and having similar matching content to the games you have is expected. Well, at least that is what the majority of Sony fans have mentioned wanting. /keeptryingyourfailisentertaining

It doesn't muddy the waters for those who just wanna improve there gameplay experience.

Even $50 for a constantly differing amount of content vs. $30 for single pieces of content isn't in the same ballpark. There is no reason for the movie rentals to be $30 a pop

Sony is not offering 50+ games; DEVELOPERS are offering 50+ games. A lot of those developers are indie. THAT'S why there are so many, not because they are demos, but because AAA developers aren't as quick to take the risk on something new. So indies are jumping at the challenge since they don't have as much to lose as well as them wanting to get their name out there. Unless indie developers only make demos, you are dead wrong.

And just because its an indie doesn't make them bad game neither. Look at Angry Birds, Minecraft, Journey, Drawn to Death just to name a few. In addition to this, a pretty decent number of AAA developers are, too, on board.

If a game isn't $60 by some notorious AAA studio whose track record consist of 9 out 10 scores, everything else must be crap demos by the little guys. LoL!

So yeah, like I said earlier: you fail.

Regarding movies, that experience can STILL be had on the competing platforms either through it or some alternative. So don't act like YOUR solution is the only way to go.

At this point VR is dead in the water, not a peep outta Oculus or Vive. Hopefully PSVR can get some better traction...

That's ONE outlet of many others with much cheaper 4K video but because the $30 version came up, I guess that is why we are here discussing this.

Oculus and the Vive were obviously going to have a hard time when we discovered the prices would be $600-$800 just to even get the headset. What killed the option entirely was the beefed up PC that basically caused the bundle to hit well into the $1000 range. There is one thing when you have beefed-up rig and have to buy the HMDs, which is still very expensive to jump in. But its another when that is considered a bundle since very few actually have a rig that powerful just to play VR.

Sony is obviously in a much better position since their entire PS bundle is almost twice as cheap as the cheapest HMD. Ouch. But I do agree with, fate rests on Sony now as far a VR on a console.

It's a very big lie that big studios aren't producing VR games. Literally every major game currently is getting a VR game on the side. Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, Batman, Assassin's Creed, and Battlefront just to name only a few.

Sounds like someone needs to be sold on PSVR. Well I have just the video for that

Give it up, Shawn. The fight is over. Nobody is going to buy the PS4 Pro. It's a lost cause. The sun will not rise in Japan tomorrow. Closing time for Sony. There's only room for one big shot company in this industry and that's Microsoft.

LoL!

If I did actually care that much about someone's money and purchase, that'd be rather scary and sad at the same time. I guess that must be pretty common around here: others losing sleep when a console of choice is rejected.

You don't know by now that TD is joking?

Hugely crowded UHD player market? there are only a handful of them available right now, not sure when the Sony models will arrive next year so I can't say how crowded the market will be then but it's slim pickings right now.

Of course I do. But thinking about it got me wondering if some people truly behave this way. I mean, that's some pretty hilarious stuff........and kinda creepy, too.

Asked PlayStation support on twitter if there was an easy way to move my games over instead of re-downloading.

They replied just now.....
@AskPS_UK: @oo_Yungstar_oo Unfortunately there is not. You will need to log into your PSN account and re-download the content.

shawn....

When he talks about the textures being 1080p still, I'm guessing this is what he means.

Yeah, he covers nothing that I already hadn't explained. He's also mistaking on the announcement. I watched that conference and Mark Cerny CLEARLY stated what it took to run 4K games natively and how SONY had to achieve its quality differently, hence the term 4K quality, not natively. Now, by the console actually having 4K video, it is still considered, technically, a 4K machine.

BluRay drives are already on the market, so I don't see what the problem is there unless you just love using your console as a BluRay machine.

And it was clearly stated that games weren't upscaled but rather something in between.

Ouch. That sucks. Hope you have an uncapped data plan! This is something I worry about with Scorpio too. I'm really hoping I can plug in my external HD and just download whatever updates apply. It is probably going to be an important thing to keep in mind.
