Raid Stories

Didn't know this. Thanks for sharing. I just spent about 2 hours trying to kill Crota to no end.

What I learned in the fight up to Crota-

If you have gotten the Pit chest on Normal, it will not give you anything on Hard. A Hunter can run straight through The Pit section, activate the bridge, jump up on the rock that makes you invisible to everything but the Ogres, then turn invisible hide behind one of the rocks in front of the bridge until the bridge is fully formed.

The Totem Bridge- You only need 3 players to cross the bridge to beat it. Of course the more the better. But if you can get your 3 strongest player across, they can still take out the Ogres and finish the section. Ideally you want to kill the Ogres before they reach the Totems. But you can make the Ogres get off the Totem/s, then have someone get on the Totem/s quickly to keep them from killing everyone.
Did you get anything from the raid.

I got the AR and shards. But we got stuck at Crota and couldn't beat him before I had to quit.

This is pretty cool

How did you build the hunter to make that run through the abyss? I'm talking about armour and abilities etc.

Got the pulse rifle as well. I normally hate them but this one is slick.

Is it possible to run through the first section on hard mode with a lvl 31 Titan defender so that I can at least get the first drop?

I'm still probably a couple of weeks of raiding away from getting to lvl 32 (only have one character) and then a couple more from getting the weapons needed to do the hard raid. I don't know if I have the motivation to start a second character or play through the entire hard raid now knowing that the House of Wolves DLC will probably make all of this obsolete in 5 weeks.

I'm trying to understand the Raid. I thought you could only get drops from it once a week? But I see people running them multiple times.

You are partially correct. You can have up to 3 characters in destiny whether it's all 3 races or all the same that all build toward the same pool of resources.

Each character can get a drop each week from a raid. So if you have only one character, you get 1 raid with drops. If you have 3 characters, you can get a drop in each raid with each of those characters.

I got all the new raid primaries except for word of Crota. Hoping to get that on my Warlock once I level it up all the way.

Ive got all 3 of my characters to Crota on Hard. Hopefully I can beat Crota with my two lvl 32 characters this week.

Its bs that you cant get the 3 shard chests on Hard if you have already gotten them on Normal. People will be using LFG to skip the Deathsinger, just like they did when it didn't drop loot on Normal.

Got with a group today that had figured out how to still yet cheese the Totem Bridge. All you need is a Warlock with self revive. You build the bridge, and get one person across(ideally a Hunter with invisibility). The person who crosses then hides behind the pillar, on the left, adjacent to the end of the bridge. Then everyone wipes except the person who went across. This will de-spawn the Hive on the first side. Then the Warlock(s) self revive, jump to a high pillar and snipe everything on the other side. If the Ogres activate a Totem, the person who went across deactivates them. You can use any class for this, but the Hunter with invisibility is the easiest.

I think The Destiny grind has finally gotten to me. I feel no desire to play the Hard mode. The grind is just too slow, too repetitive and not rewarding enough. Not to mention everything will be obsolete in 6 weeks once the next DLC comes out. This just isn't a sustainable model.

In the last 4 weeks of Hard VOG and Nightfall and not getting anything worthwhile or even a single exotic, I've given up on those lists.

I'll still play Crota regular a couple more times until I get to lvl 32, but even there it's been a very, very slow grind for armor/materials and I've only received one weapon of in 5 or 6 tries now.

Destiny's gunplay and gameplay is great, but there are too many other great games out there for me to spend the few hours I have each week to play games, grinding through the same things over and over in Destiny.

Finished Crotas End on Hard three times last night, and once on Normal just helping a guy out. After beating it the first time on Hard, it was like a stack of dominos falling the next two times. The last time we had two lvl 32, three lvl 31, and one lvl 30, and it only took 5 or 6 tries. I think I might run it on Normal a few times with lower lvls so I can learn the Sword.

We used the middle strategy on Crota, and was lucky enough to have a Hunter use the Sword. The biggest problems that we had all night were bugs in the game. Knights coming through the glass barrier, Boomers teleporting from their tower onto the bridge killing us in the Ogre spawn then teleporting back to their tower, Thrall killing us through the glass barrier, Swordbearer being a chickensh*t, the Gatekeeper even warped into the summoning crystal room then disappeared on the sword possession that would have killed Crota. Its hard enough to stay alive through the whole battle without all the bug hardships.

After it was all done, I got the raid scout rifle(which appears to be really good), a raid helmet for my Warlock that I needed, the No Land Beyond sniper rifle that was immediately dismantled, and a raid helmet that I didn't need for my Titan. No Crux of Crota.

A couple useful tips I picked up on. It takes a total of 18 sword slams(right trigger) to kill Crota with a lvl 32. Crota will Enrage at 14 sword slams with a level 32(yes, there is a such thing as doing too good). According to our sword carrier, Crota moves every minute. Im assuming he is correct, as he was literally using a timer to help us. You can "funnel" the Swordbearer into position by shooting(but not hitting him) opposite the direction you want him to go(yes he is a scared little b***h that runs opposite the direction of danger).

Just read the Eurogamer: Crotas End Hard Mode Guide. lol They clearly haven't played it much. No helpful information that cant be found outside of simple observation.
