Official Thread Star Wars Battlefront 2

I find the fact that you don’t seem to understand the issue here a little odd. You’ve complained about long grinds in loads of games and in this one the long grind is there in an attempt to make you spend extra money to get around it. Honestly, how can you not see this ?

I understand the issue. Should they go back to traditional DLC then?

People don't like loot boxes, I get it. (believe me, I read most gaming sites and this has been one of the biggest topics for a long time).

What you don't get is I feel that the loot box model works better for me. A DLC map pack means I pretty much have to pay to keep playing once it comes out. With this model, I don't necessarily ever have to spend another $$$.

So, this model works BETTER for ME. It might not work better for everyone. I'll bet I'm not the only one it works for either.

I have no problem with loot boxes. I have no problem with micro transactions either. Plenty of retail games have done good jobs at implementing them. It works for me too because the DLC is free... for example Titanfall.

The problem is putting characters behind excessive unlocks in order to force people to spending extra money after they’ve paid for the game. It’s that simple dude. That simple.

Loot boxes are better than paid DLC but that doesn't mean this is a good implementation of them

Yeah they need to find a better way, season passes/map packs for MP games split the base while these loot box things along with really high numbers needed to unlock characters seem shady. I'd rather pay $79-$80 per game up front and not worry about this crap.

Transparency is always the best option, and right now we're going off incomplete information.

The 40 hours number ignores challenges and a ton of other things (duplicates give you in game money too).

I'm actually not disputing your point, only questioning the 40 hours number as it may leave off vital info.

Hero prices down 75%, but that still doesn't touch the progression through random drop problem.

Were I somehow in charge of fanboy bitching (unlimited power) I'd say to keep at it. This mess could've easily been avoided if they respected their customers didn't just see us as dollar signs. Or at least pretended not to. I still believe doing RNG cosmetics instead would've solved this. It really is not hard.

Not a success gamers.

Reports are saying EA also reduced rewards 75% too. So looks like it's a wash.

Edit: Looks like Campaign reward drops 20,000 to 5,000. Other rewards not stated as reduced or not.

The progression and loot crates system is a lost cause unless they roll out an major patch/expansion. Don't expect any changes now, if ever.

Finished the campaign tonight, enjoyed it but the cut scenes seem low res and there is a lot of color banding in them. Also there seems to be just as much pop in now as there was in the beta which is a bit disappointing. I played the beta on the Pro and noticed it and hoped that on the One X it would be improved but it seems about the same to me.

Now, maybe they will show up on a Dolby Atmos Reddit, so they can explain why they didn't include it on Xbox, and everybody can downvote that?:(

Played a few rounds of arcade mode this morning before work just to see what it looks like, game is beautiful on the X! I had absolutely no idea what I was doing though, surprised how much they've changed since the last one.

Do you get any cards, credits, or anything for multiplayer for completing the campaign?

I don't think its true that they lowered the credit rate in general

That's obviously been the problem from the start - transparency.

Was the 40 hours number close or not? Was the number right and did they fix it, or did they just change it to quiet everyone?

Would other things have made the progression ok or was it a very long grind as people worried?

Nobody has ever explained how many loot crates you get for free by just playing (which is usually the #1 thing that gets overlooked in the loot crate anger).

As always, EA could have just explained how it worked instead of being vague.

Yeah I have to admit when I heard about the change I instantly thought of the utility company model.

How do you sell utility customers on a 25% increase? They are getting the exact same thing and it is going to cost more. Nobody is going to go for it, so how do you get people to like it?

You do this by telling everyone that you are going to raise prices 100%, let them rage, then tell them "ok, you won, we'll ONLY increase 25%" and they'll feel good about it.

Not sure if this analogy works in other areas but I see it all the damn time.

On the other hand, maybe people behind their downvotes actually went and cancelled preorders and EA saw that. I know at least one or two posters here did that. If EA actually saw preorders dropping they may have just reacted quickly.
