The 2016/2017 NBA Season Thread

How do you figure? Kyrie is better than IT. Crowder is overrated filler trash, never cared for him. Zizic and the Nets pick? Take it all. About time Ainge did something.
Brooklyn pick will be top 3. Kyrie plays as much defense as Thomas and is far less durable. Not sure Thomas will fit well into a team where he can't handle the ball 100% of the time. Cavs got the better deal because they got the pick.

They got the better deal if Lebron stays and the pick is top 3 and a great player. Time will tell. Celts won in my mind because Kyrie is a better all around player than Thomas, even if it's marginal. Plus they were going to have to pay him max money next year. I don't think he's worth it.

Good trade for both teams. Opening night going to be fire. Now 2K better update their cover, i don't care if you gotta recall 5 million copies of the game. I want Kyrie in green baby.

They were bidding against themselves. Who could have offered anything comparable to that?

And consider that George and Butler were traded for peanuts.

lol.

So the Cavs traded Kyrie for IT, pretty much equals...except Kyrie is a more valuable player being younger/2 years on deal. I'd argue he's slightly better than IT, too. But they also added Crowder and the Brooklyn pick, so I guess I can't be too mad. Solid trade, it depends on what they do with the pick. Next draft is loaded.

They keep that pick or trade it to the Bulls for Wade.

That's the point. When you have that much to trade, you have to trade it eventually. They didn't get Butler or George because Ainge tried to keep the picks and trade away the trash. Teams aren't going to go for that. Worked out in the end, as Kyrie is the best player of those three.

If the Brooklyn pick ends up being the next Jordan in the draft and Kyrie walks in 2 years then i'll regret the trade. Otherwise i'm sleeping really well knowing that i don't have to watch IT score 40 and give up 36 on the defensive end. He cancels himself out.

Cavs got worse this year. Curry is licking his chops now that he's got an easier player to score against and defend in the Finals. If Lebron doesn't shut it down like in 2010 and Cavs miss the Finals altogether.

Dude, how many times do People have to inform boston fans... Irving is an absolute sieve on defense. Nearly as bad as IT.

Now you're going to damage control it because Kyrie betrayed the King? Celtics got the better player. Enjoy Crowder by the way, a guy who cries and gets sensitive when fans want better players. He'll fit right in with LeDrama. Come on man.

The dude brought you guys your first title in 60 years or whatever. He's a killer. Doesn't matter what he does on defense. He saved Lebron's legacy just like Allen did in Miami. Lebron didn't want the final shot.

What are you talking about. I was never a fan of Kyrie other than he wore a Cavs jersey. Go read my posts on WCG. Guy plays zero defense, just like IT. Have you seen how this team did when he led it without LeBron?

Irving is more talented and younger thus a more valuable player. But you sitting here saying you are so glad you got rid of an awful defensive player was just begging for someone to call your ass out... because Kyrie is dreadful on defense. Absolutely god awful.

So congrats. You acquired a marginally better player than IT and gave up Crowder and possibly the #1 pick for him.

This is gold. Another meltdown in Cleveland, i love it! Not really, i actually feel for you man. Lebron is leaving town after this season and all hopes of beating the Warriors and maybe even the Celtics this year just went up in flames. That's unfortunate. I was actually hoping Kyrie and Lebron could hug it out and take one more shot at the champs.

But i'll take the consolation prize for getting our asses beat in last ECF.. because Thomas was such a defensive liability and Crowder sucks. Killed two birds with one stone there. Kyrie isn't half as bad on defense as IT, the fact that he's not a midget already makes him much better. Cavs were dumb to not tell him to shut up and play ball but i can see why the panicked and traded him away for peanuts to the Celts. They know Lebron is leaving, might as well start the rebuild now.

Yes, Kyrie is pretty much as bad. I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

Anyway, you are on crack. I havent seen anyone say this deal isnt fantastic for Cleveland. I also haven't seen anybody say the Boston can beat Cleveland, quite the contrary actually.

Sadly for you, even on the slight off chance that you guys do beat Cleveland this season, Golden State will still destroy you just like they would us...so...

Nah, we always give the Dubs a run for their money and that was with IT and Crowder. Now we got Kyrie and Hayward. It's going to be a showdown, whether it's this year or next. We beat them in their building twice the last two years. Nobody else can say that.

As far as the trade goes, you guys definitely got a great deal. If Brooklyn absolutely sucks again and you get the #1 pick and the player isn't a bust. You never know. Well, as a Cavs fan you should know. Does Anthony Bennett ring a bell?

Yeah i mean... that was just an awful draft talent wise. This one looks way better. We'll see.

Also are you really touting regular-season wins and acting like you can compete with the Warriors? Man I don't know if you're serious or not. You guys are going to get absolutely massacred if you play them. Just like everybody else.

You'd think that but who knows. I don't think they're unbeatable, you just have to frustrate them. My only concern is we traded our best defender away in Bradley who could contain either Curry or Klay. I'm not expecting white man Hayward to contain Durant but we'll see what we can do.

I don't think players like JR Smith and Kevin Love scare the Warriors. They're as soft as charmin. We have the backbone to get it done. Curry ain't gonna like Smart when he bullies him. Celtics are a rebounder and paint enforcer away from doing work. Too bad Dwight Howard is off in space, he'd be all we need. I hear Anthony Davis is the next puzzle piece though, so stay tuned.

Dude how much of your starting lineup from last year is even still there? Horford? Acting like you have some grit squad now... I mean you added Kyrie, he isnt that type of player he's a finesse scorer. I doubt NO is trading you Anthony Davis either, unless you're giving them the remaining war chest.

Irving for Boston is better because his age does align with how young your team is. I like that. But you aren't beating Golden State. Definitely not as currently constructed. Probably not even Cleveland. If you go and add another star player, then we can start talking.

And believe me I wish someone would beat GSW.

Maybe it's all a dream. Believe it or not there were Celtics fans who believed last years squad and the squad before that could make legitimate noise. I wasn't one of them, i support my team but i'm not that crazy. They call those fans green teamers. If you saw me hyping them up i didn't believe it.

This squad though? People are sleeping on this squad. They'll find out. Brown is going to become a star this year and Tatum already looks ready to step in and dominate. I would have been pissed if they gave up either in that deal and singing a different tune. We'll get Davis if things go south in New Orleans.

I mean, can you blame me for being excited? Even if it's just hopes and dreams. Finally dealer Danny pulled some strings. I can feel it coming in the air tonight.

Good trade but IMO Ainge gave too much, especially the Nets pick. But why this trade though? Irving and Thomas are basically the same type of player. Both ISO/scorer PGs. I thought IT fits well with the Celtics and he's like the heart and soul for them.

Cavs still winning the East and if the Celtics by some miracle did make the Finals they got no chance of beating the Champs. Boston going to be fun to watch, but they still not good enough to compete with the best in the league.

Did TD really flex about regular season wins LOL! Troll harder.

IT is much more clutch than KI. As a wizard fan I know this firsthand.
