The Dark Souls Thread! v2.0

Got the sunlight spear. Man that thing does some serious damage.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I haven't even seen this Biorr character.

That reminds me that I feel I could do another play through and have an experience that is a lot different. I have just been playing the game and not worrying about world tendencies. I've tried to explore but I know I've missed stuff.

There are a lot of world tendency events both for white and black, but I don't recommend trying to fool with that right now. In fact, you should probably play offline only since being online affects world tendency anyway. There are some npc events and some areas that open with a certain world tendency. Sometimes after beating a boss, you can gain pure white, so always keep an eye on them.

I just read this over on Gaf and was wondering if it was true or not. Person was talking about Demon's Souls:

Game was a joke (beat Dark first) till I learned of NG+ and black phantom NPCs. The real Demons Souls starts at NG+

Don't know if I'd call it a "joke" but playing the game on pure black tendency sure makes it harder when it spawns the black phantoms. NG+ does make it harder, but I can't remember anything vastly different. I don't usually go into ng+ because I want to start a new character though.

And the iron keep has been conquered. I think I'm becoming a dark souls pro. I'm frequently running around 150k souls on me at this stage. Next stop, the shaded woods and that scorpion boss.

It is done! :)

Expected more of the ending but then again...it is barely about the story in this game. What exactly brings New Game + for me?

Or Dark Souls 2!

Nah not going to do that. I am not ready to dedicate all my game time to a game like this again. I noticed while playing DS that i didn't play any other game anymore and i DO want to have finished my backlog of 360 games before i buy the Xbox One on September 5. Those games include Dragon's Dogma, Dead Space 3, Alan Wake, Darksiders 2 and several others.

NG + doesn't start until you talk to the level up woman in Majula and tell her to go to ng+. In ng+, the enemies have more health and do more damage, there are some black phantoms added here and there, some of the boss fights get more challenging as well with new enemies thrown in. There are also some new items to get, and co-op functions a little bit different as well. I'm not sure what all the differences are to be honest.

Majula...oh hold on you are talking about Dark Souls II. I just finished the first one.

Good call. I'd be lying if k said dark souls2 was any less of a commitment. These games are the definition of digital crack. Ice over 300 put in between the two and over half of that on DS2

Oops, that's right lol.

Um, let me see. It's been so long I can't remember. I think you just load your save and keep going. The differences in DS1 in ng+ are not so noticeable. I mean, the enemies have more health and damage, but that's about it that I can remember. I usually start new characters because I get bored most of the time. It might even be easier in some spots due to your better armor and upgraded weapons, but a few areas will be harder later on.

That is for damn sure. I've never used any drugs, but i bet that this game can be considered digital crack, haha.

Ah i see. Little reason for a second playthrough then. I'll now wait for games like Lords of the Fallen and Bloodborne, which look really similar to it. No doubt a Dark Souls 3 will come out eventually too.

So here I am, just after buying a PS4 (and loving it!), and with some games still to finish on my X1, and all I think about playing is Dark Souls 2 on my 360. Seriously... this game really has me by the short and curlies.

That's because there is no game on the X1 or PS4 anywhere near as good as DS2.

Can you get the PC version?
It doesn't take much to run it smoothly ;)

I wasn't sure if you wanted to hang on to your older console/s is why. ;)

I had thought about selling it a few times but I've decided to keep it. I've a ton of games for it and what I'd get for it financially wouldn't match what I get from it entertainment wise.

When I got rid of my libraries for both I repurchased many of those games on the pc.
But that's me.

Dark Souls 2 coming to Xbox One according to Tesco :

http://www.totalxbox.com/79251/tesco-lists-dark-souls-2-for-xbox-one/

Please be true. A bump in graphics from the X1 for this game would be slick. If I can migrate my level 235 character that would also be nice.

Tesco...take with a Earth sized grain of salt.

So anyone else playing this months DLC?
Yes, although I still need to finish up the standard game  been a little sidetracked lately with non-gaming activities.

Any word on how and where you access the DLC in DS2? I've been holding off on NG+ to complete some side stuff and to see it they put the DLC at a certain point in the game.

Crown of the Sunken King is apparently accessed in the primal fire chamber in Black Gulch. Once you purchase the DLC you get given an Item, and then you examine some sort of monument and get teleported to to the DLC area.

OK, so you need to be roughly a third of the way through the game to access the DLC.

I keep looking at http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Game+Progress+Route trying to figure out the two fast travel locations that I haven't visited (still darkened). It's not easy because they're organized differently.

Anyone have a list similar to the screen below showing all the locations according to the fast travel screen?
