Official Thread The Division v. 2

Thinking about it, it's not much going on in regards to npc count and the environments are very static. MGSV did 60fps on base models and looked amazing, so there's a chance this will do fauxK at 60fps.
That will vary like D1. Not to mention there are more destructable environment stuff too, not sure if it is physics based or not.

So, multiple raids, raids launch later on, deeper character customisation, more skins with broader use, dyes, Exotics are more exotic in look & use/effect--Also has a world lore aspect to it. End game isn't all about super hardcore dedicated team activities.

All confirmed.

Sounds good.

I heard on me podcasts that the first Division game had the highest completion rate of any Ubisoft title this generation.

This fact has perked my interest somewhat.

Edit: It's actually of all time, not of this generation. Crazy if true.

After getting constantly raped in the D.Z., I swore I wouldn't get D2. But it's looking like I'll have to go back on my word. Damn.
Between this, MK11, Resident Evil 2 I'm going to be busy

I'm still super skeptical. It does sound good, but the last one was such a horrible experience. The PVP is still designed completely around ganking and people with less real life/more time are still going to be better.

It does sound like they improved it a lot, but I think I am going to sit back. The people in the D1 DZ were awful and it was zero fun. You'd have people following you around just to try and jump in front of your shots.

Can't do that in D2, though. Also , the matchmaking tries to put solos together this time round.

And people being better than you isn't a reason not to buy...you would never buy a game if you went by that logic.

Skill has nothing to do with it. In D1, everything was based on how much time you could put in. The leveling system rewards those that put in a ton of time, and the rest of us were just sheep in the DZ.

In other games, I can overcome less time in the game with skill and smarts. In D1, I had to shoot someone 20 times while they could shoot me once. I had zero chance of ever competing. The only chance I ever had to get gear out is if I could time my extract with another group.

I see they are doing a lot to minimize this with normalization, but it still sounds like the entire game is centered around ganking. That divides players into wolves and sheep. Since I have a full time job plus play other games, I'll be in the latter category.

Let's not forget that the community in D1 was some of the worst players. At any given time, there was at least one player who was just going to follow you around and make sure you got screwed over. People would gain nothing from killing me. I wouldn't even have any gear (and the game would show that) and they'd gank me anyway.

What's funny is the Division 2 looks better than Anthem in every way, except this. D2 is centered around PVP. Anthem has none, and honestly that is making it more for me.

It isn't centered around PvP at all. You don't ever have to enter the DZ if you don't want to.

If the PVE content is good enough to stand on its own, then sure, I might jump in. I worry that you're limiting yourself not going after that DZ gear though.

It is nice that they give you stuff without extraction, but again the good stuff still requires it.

I really want to like the game. I loved the atmosphere of the first one. After about my 50th tea bag in the DZ though, I'm super skeptical. People 20 levels higher than me sh** talking got old in a big hurry.

limiting yourself, hardly. Contaminated gear isn't going be handing out god tier rolls all the time. The roll simply is a bit more specific to you, that is all.

Problem with your comments is they are not factoring in the changes. Your ldvel in DZ is not that important. Your build can help to a small degree but 1000hours or 10 hours isn't a big deal, if you are better at the shooting you will win. Matchmaking will keep solos with solos as much as possible, which means if die from ganking it is because you were not good enough.

I don't think you realize how big an impact normalization is going to have.

Plus the Uber gear whore players will be all in that DZ where gear stats are still part of the system.

To those of you who played Destiny and The Division...

Are they similar in terms of action/tactics? Is the pace somewhat similar?

I watched that Dark Zone footage and was intrigued with the gadgets I saw but it looked like it might be a non stop action game. Can anyone clarify for me?

No, not similar at all.

Not all go. But is action oriented.

I had a ton of fun in the DZ in the first game. In the beginning it was griefing central, but after the first couple months it kinda died down, unless I ventured in alone. We always ran the higher DZ’s (7-9) and had no problems with other players, the ones we did encounter would either scram or it was a pretty even fire fight when sh!t went down.

The lower lvl DZ’s seemed to be where all the a-holes congregated later in the game, we always steered clear of them and it made the DZ way more enjoyable.

Outside both being looter/shooters they are nothing alike. The Division is a cover based shooter that lacks the speed and verticality that Destiny offers. But that's a good thing since you get two totally different experiences.

Just watched the Dev Special Report stream and saw a few new (to me) nuggets of info.

1. Dark Zone perks: Seem to be passive in nature. Tied to DZ ranks. Examples givrn: 1 extra contaminate gear slot & Quicker extraction time.

2. Skill based matchmaking...think this is pvP oonly and not DZ but not sure at this point.

Also seems like a photo mode is coming.

I was fine until it came time for extraction. I learned to avoid the low level zones, but even then you fire off that flare and the gankers would be all over you. I'd even sit and wait for someone else to extract somewhere else, thinking that the gankers would be busy, but there was always a group ready to take my stuff. Someone would put an explosive there when you were stuck in an animation. I could just never get gear out.

I like some of the changes, but honestly for me to buy they need to get rid of extraction completely or at least make it so that it isn't always in a fixed spot or so easy to see. I mean, it was easier and faster to just farm the extraction point and steal other people's stuff than it was to farm the DZ itself.

Only contaminated gear needs to be extracted. You can get other non contaminated gear in the DZ that can’t be taken from you now.

Yeah that's helpful, but I'm guessing the "good loot" is still contaminated. It is nice to not go empty handed at least.

No I don’t believe there is any real difference between the contaminated loot and the normal pickups. As far as I can see the contaminated loot is just extra stuff you can get.

In terms o rarity or possible stats you are right. The difference lies is how they roll. Non-contaminated gear is completelyy random. Contaminateed gear is rolled more specific to you. Basically, it is a bit less RNG.

Oh hell no. Why would I want anything contaminated???
