dirty tactic to use controlled events for reviewing the console/games.

manufacturing problems?
Or maybe the games are rough in certain areas and they don't want it to effect their reviews? The latest Killzone video of gameplay wasn't exactly smooth in some spots. Maybe Sony is hiding something worse? A controlled environjment might have only some stages available to play, with the rough ones not. Would effect game scores allot. It almost reminds me of the infamous tactic of shipping a finished but rough game to retail only and not game reviewers, just to evade a bad review. Well sort of.... Still abit shady. LOL.

There would be a HUGE backlash....the only people praising it would be HIVEMIND GAF.
They would instead say it was a 'genius move' or something along those lines...something about it being 'revolutionary'

I think we all can agree that Sony wants to control reviews on their games for a real reason however. Not cool in my book. The public needs to know the truth. Not Sonys version of the truth.

In ANY industry a controlled review environment is not really a good thing. It means that the company in question is trying to control what the public sees and therefore public opinion as a result. There could be many reasons for it, they could just want to be in control, it could mean areas of games have issues, some things might not be fully finished yet, etc. Not sure if it points to console issues itself but maybe, seems a lot of people are now saying that retail PS4's are not in the wild yet for reviewers and that they are still using dev kits.

it seems that AG is basically making fun of people that think MS is waiting till the 12 to tell of the game resolutions.

Why would Microsoft hold "bad news" about multiplats until ... 10 days before their system launches?

Have we been lied to by Sony? It sure sounds like it. It also sounds like what we've seen of KZ, Knack etc may not be what we actually get when the Ps4 releases. If technically the Ps4 doesnt exist yet, then essentially we've been seeing a lot of fluff until the retail version is out. Not good....not good at all.

Yeah. At least MS is touring the country letting the general public get a feel for the system and the games. From what I have read the reviews have been mostly positive.

Honestly....if this is true it wouldn't surprise me if it is manufacturing/heat related. The system is just not as ready as Sony would have people believe.

Would also explain the lock ups it was having during LIVE shows, the lack of PS4's out in the wild, and the fact that it sounds like Sony wants to control what content is shown. Also tack on the fact that reviewers still have debug units and not retail ones.

Could be wrong though.

All this doom n gloom on both sides of the pond is frankly stupid. Fanboyys jump upon any negative tweet/ rumor they could spot of the 'other' console to make themselves feel better.

While I absolutely hate for customers to get screwed over, if that happened and PS4 had serious problems, part of me would just want to laugh and laugh at all the Sony fans for all the trolling they've done over the past 4 months.

Come on mate. You cant tell me you honestly believe this type of behavior is alright from Sony? Why control the content? Why control reviews of the hardware or the software from the public? Thats not cool.....

you do know every company does this right.....

Oh god I pity him and polygon staffs, they were already bullied by GAF SDFs by giving The Last of Us 7.5, and it is actually a very good place...

This can't be about not being able to capture or post footage directly from a game. Journalists are more than capable to work with video assets sent from the publisher.

It also can't be about not getting final retail units to review. Journalists are fully capable of using dev kits to review games.

If this all simply ends up being about not getting early or exclusive access, this will show exactly how trivial and entitled these journalists are. I'd venture to say however that it probably won't be this either. Lol

If they have, I've never heard of it, and it wouldn't explain why they are so mad about it. Typically reviewers are sent copies of the game to review at their own pace. And apparently Microsoft has let them play around with the retail Xbox One according to Kevin Dent.

So why not Sony?

I'm not saying anything is wrong with the PS4. But reviewers certainly don't like it because they won't be able to report if there were any massive problems with it before launch

...and so that makes it okay?
:meh:
no, but there's definitely worse things that publishers do and this doesnt even come close. so getting up in arms about common practice....

can we stop calling these people journalists they are game reviewers. some of them are not even good writers.

Exactly.
If this is indeed the case folks need to stop trying to make excuses for Sony and see this as something shady. If true it does not sound good at all.

the cod x1 - 720p stuff is legit to me right now simply because it has been confirmed by cheapyD and the dude is pretty legit from what I have gotten listening to the cagcast

but like Arthur ageis or whatever, the drivers are still being worked on the x1 side.

couple with this sony s***.
