Hazard holds higher ground on this.

They are very close to one another. Depending on footage seen the opinion may vary, but the fact they are close ( regardless of opinion) is undeniable. Oh, and just for curiosity sake......How do you come to the conclusion that the "Majority" favor one over another ?
It was close last gen mate, with the exception that the 360 would surpass the PS3 version of any one game almost universally. Its close for the new generation as well. But I think its safe to say we can expect a repeat.

For the recod Ialready said I prefer the look of the xb1 version. Just not so single minded as to not see why others feel different. OkIm done going iff topic with PS4 discussion.:)

Well the issues I see with the PS4 version are 1) washed out color. This no doubt will be correctable via your TV/Monitor or maybe PS4 settings, and 2) it has a slight blur to the image, but some people like that and some do not mind it. Those are the only negatives ( for me) that make the XB1 version slightly more favorable.

No, it isn;t safe to say that at all.

Last gen the differences were actually pretty big to begin with. That isn;t the case this time round. This is only one game too. Lets see how all the other launch games stack up before we start with the "Safe to say" stuff.

I don't know what you expect to see from a 40% power advantage, but having a higher resolution that pushes 50% more pixels (and even does so at a higher frame rate) is just about right.

This is the XBox one thread, not the "My box has more pixels" thread. Would you kindly GTFO until you're willing to (and I laugh at the implausibility) discuss this intelligently and not as a p-ness measuring device?

Quite incredible how at least with our first big budget multiplatform title, X1 holds its own, despite weaker hardware specs. BF4 was so demanding, even the PS4 could not natively output greater than 900p.

This is evidence enough that the X1, through the might of software, can go beyond what we saw on paper.

As many were trying to say for a good while. There is more to game performance that RAW specs on paper and singular specs like tflops. Drivers and dev tools play almost as big an impact, but we're on a forum. So we should expect people to play ignorant, or go overboard with the specs.

But.....as I said to Mcmasters. It is still early days yet.

i think having seen this, it makes me excited for what the XB1 will do when people really learn to squeeze it

We can all now say that the X1 version is holding up very well, it's too bad of the resolution, cause apparently there wouldn't have been aliasing otherwise but hey....that issue will be fixed in due time, hopefully sometime soon. Right now I just want to see direct and top quality MP footage on X1 and i hope the aliasing isn't too bad.

You may not believe this Menace, but last gen, it wasnt just better looking games. Online, controllers and other things played a huge role as well. My only point is that the X1 surprised a lot of people. Dont get so defensive.

I don't think he was defensive, man. You are a sort of boisterous and in your face sort of poster, which leads to some of the back and forth that you have with others. I think he was merely stating that it is too early to tell a "winner" if you wanted to call one.

Defensive ? WOW...we got to this stage already.

You're also going off point and trying to add stuff to validate your over eager attitude to promote the xbox one as some kind of victor. All from one singular game on a as of yet unreleased hardware, and just for the record I will be getting an xbox one first and plan on it being my default console. Defensive :txbrolleyes:

Well then my apologies. :)

Menace stop being such a menage, your menacing posts are such a menace to us.

Anyone know if the MP footage on November 1 will be available for download aswell? Cause streaming over XBL isn't gonna show top quality.

Gawd, lol, this is what's it's come to.
But the XboxOne wasn't SUPPOSED TO JUST "HOLD IT'S OWN"!!

Mr Shultz, this is a current gen title being ported to next gen with an SDK that isn't fully matured. This happens in the beginning of every new generation console. Look at the launch titles for X360 and PS3 and comapre them to today's games.

Everyone needs to calm down. This is all very normal. very very very normal.

Considering they usually post videos on xbox.com before they stream it on xbl I'd say it's a strong possibility.

I still predict the XBOX ONE to edge out PS4 graphically by hardware alone. But both systems are close.

What I do expect will pull XBOX ONE farther ahead is cloud computing. I see it making a big impact.

I agree with this in the long term, when tiled textures and DX 11.2 get fully utilized I think we'll start seeing some major improvements to textures.

I don't think the gaming community has fully grasped what DX 11.2 will fully do for the X1 and PC gaming.

I'm not claiming a victor. Im stating the X1 surprised people. And let me explain; The reason for my opinion (humbly I might add) is because I believe launch games are important and essentially set the stage for what we can expect of any generation. Start strong and chances are the offerings, features and benefits will continue to get stronger throughout that generation. Ultimately, to ensure you end strong, you have to begin that way.

Now that being said; the way either company has begun with launch games and features from the gate, I truly believe it only gets better for whomever begins with the strongest launch. The X1 is off to a great start and surprised a lot of people. Now arguably, they also have the strongest launch line up of recent memory as well. So up to this point; the X1 offers extremely powerful hardware, a stronger launch line up and the best additional features.

All of this will only get better not worse. Launch is CRUCIAL for both consoles at this point. Its the console with the strongest beginning that leaps ahead of its competition from the onset. 9 times out of 10, that standard/momentum is maintained throughout. Hope Im making sense mate...

This is just my observation and humble opinion. There is a method to my madness. ;)

I find it curious that many sources...DF, Videogamer, some PC website and so on all clearly prefer the PS4 version. They bring up all kinds of technical details and yes i am aware of the resolution difference, yet i don't really SEE it myself, except for of course for the aliasing. Man....if not for the apparent tools issue, the game would have been 900p too and aliasing wouldn't even have been present, making it IMO the superior version. Graphically speaking, i realize the PS4 has a framerate edge in the SP. But in the end the MP is what matters most for BF.

Are we going to get this situation now for every multiplatform title? Sooooo....NFS, AC IV, WD and so on? I think we gotta keep in mind that all those games can end up being a lower resolution as well, and possibly because of that showing more aliasing too. One thing is for sure though, despite the resolution difference, if you wanted to go for BF4 on X1, there should be no reason to change your mind, looks great and i am sure MP does too. The offscreen videos sure showed that, although they ARE offscreen. Plenty of positive user impressions too.

While DX is certainly a nice perk....its not like Sony's api set can't mimic or match DX. You might just have some devs more used to directx and it will be easier to get development going in some ways. At the end of the day...both consoles share the same GPU family with Sony's being the higher end GPU and Microsoft having the midrange.

I think early launch games are not a real litmus test given how dev kits just were finalized in the summer (and if rumors are true, X1's dev kit wasn't even making full use of the esram still.) I think we'll mostly see similar looking graphics across 3rd party. I think the easiest thing for a developer however will be running the same game in a slightly lower resolution with maintaining same quality of other graphic areas. Its the lazy way to cross platform develop a game i'd imagine.

I'm sure this can be corrected

I saw the videos on my Panny plasma TV. And Wow !! The X1 version DID look better. The textures are better on X1, very muddy on ps4. If one had to guess which one had the higest res, everyone would say X1 version. I think it's bc of X1's better scaler chip.
I compared the X1 version to the PC version too, and they had the same sharp textures. The future really looks bright for X1. Everyone can relex now - X1 talks the talk AND walk the walk. Can't wait to all the great games.

In a year or two X1 will truhly shine. It's made for Tiled Resources and DirectX 11.2+

May have just been the video, but the X1 versions seemed to have some sort of Sharpening effect going on. The Blur on the PS4 version will hinder textures.

Guys, just let it rest, mod have already remind us to keep this to xbox. Anyway, a cool video. I do not think I am that Multitask, but its cool nevertheless. Imagine if you can name & call xbox by the name, That will be over the chart cool.

Exactly man. That is why i am so surprised about sites saying other things, but meh f*** it. I care about what I see. I am sure GAF keeps clinging on the fact that PS4 is 900p and X1 720p tho, but except for aliasing, it shows it makes zero difference.
