The Xbox One Thread

Yeah, again, getting out your magnifying glasses and explaining in excruciating technical detail why the PS4 version is better than the XB1 seems to be just excuses for refusing to admit that the Xbox can hold its own.

Gawd, lol, this is what's it's come to.
But the XboxOne wasn't SUPPOSED TO JUST "HOLD IT'S OWN"!!
For many months, we've endured a couple individuals here & at TXB who've blasted the PS4 as inferior, that the XboxOne had some "secret sauce", "hidden chips", superior design, etc. They've written WALLS of lecturing posts on how much better the Xbox One was going to be.

Now here we are with the details of the first multiplatform game by a AAA developer...and the XboxOne is clearly NOT holding its own.
1280x720 versus 1600x900. 50% less pixels! More jaggies. Less effects. Downgrade textures. Hits to the framerate. What in the world happened?!
...Wait, wasn't there a rumor from one of these lowlife lying MS haters, from that sad hating anti-MS forum, that held the stupid notion that PS4's hardware on paper looked 50% more powerful? Oh yea...that's right.

So here we finally are at the point where those individuals can get called out on those claims, and we can say "Hey! We thought you said XboxOne was going to be more powerful and the PS4 was doomed?! You said multiplats will look better on XboxOne, and PS4 will have a serious downgrade". All that tech talk mumbo jumbo and smoke & mirrors, lol.
But I know those questions will never be answered truthfully, because A) Those Xbox prophets will just spin more BS*, and B) posts like this one will get flagged for being trolls and their posts removed.

*MS has yet to flip the Big Switch, activating the Infinite Power of the Cloud© which will suddenly transform XboxOne BF4 from current Xbox360 resolutions to 4k & Beyond resolutions, with immeasurable PC benchmark scores.

PS4 looks too bright and soft, X1 looks too dark and sharp

i will judge this on my TV with proper picture settings thanks.

Let it go.

No reasonable person expected any real differences with the multi-plat games. I don't recall anyone seriously suggesting that MS was just going to "flip a switch" and trump Sony at launch... it's more of a dimmer, that will be turned on slowly over the next few years. Slow and oh so painful. ;)

Gotta say that image is looking like ass. And certainly not fine ass.

I'm almost inclined to believe it's not even real, that seems like a 360 screenshot without the hd textures downloaded.

Does not bode well for my plans.

There's so much wrong in this post that I don't even know where to start...

1. Don't know where the overgeneralizing notion that XO is superior in multiplats is coming from. Just because a small number of daydreamers proclaimed their bizarre visions we're all guilty of that?
The SANE people in here just said that the differences won't be as noticeable as some people want you to believe. And looking at the footage that's exactly what happened.

2. I can't even hear those stupid resolution discussions anymore. No doubt, the more the better - however this BF4 footage is perfect proof that differences in native resolution DO NOT equal differences in final picture quality. In other words: 50% more pixels is a nice number to boast but (thanks to the superior XO upscaling?) there's not much of a difference in the actual pictures aside from the horrible jaggies in the XO build. In fact many people (including GAFers) saw the footage and said that the XO build actually looks sharper. And that saying, I'm sitting right in front of my PC monitor which is not the typical console gaming situation where it even matters less.

3. Less effects. For me the builds looked identical. If I have to spend hours looking for these missing effects, than yeah it must be of high relevance.

4. Downgraded textures. I actually read a quote from the DF article and they said that strangely the XO build has MORE detail in some pictures. I couldn't make out any differences myself.

5. Hits to the framerate. Love the wording. The PS4 framerate is better which is nice - however the XO framerate isn't awful either as you imply.

One last sentence:
For months now there's a strong movement in the web that tells you that XO is inferior in every way possible. There's so much propaganda and pressure that people interested in the purchase are afraid that their console won't even be able to render the simplest game.
There's talk of 50% more that and 30% more that and thus it's no wonder that many people lose sight of the bigger picture. This bigger picture is that the XO is a very capable platform in and of itself.
Numbers are sometimes misleading because they only tell you half of the story. For example how can the special XO upscaling processor be quantified? How much of a real world and discernable difference are native resolution differences in a normal gaming environment w/wo upscaling?

With PS4 being so much easier to develop for and the XO ESRAM being a pain in the ass this BF4 footage is no shame.

Both versions look great to me. Thought I'd wake up this morning and be disappointed but I'm over the moon with how good the X1 version looks. Can't wait to play this next month. Very happy with the X1 so far as I've seen.
How come Kevin Dent is adamant the X1 version is 1080p? Does it look that good in reak life that he genuinely can't tell the difference?

Has anyone found a better X1 MP video that that awful stuff IGN showed........also, isn't their a big event on Friday US v Europe on BF4 MP? why on earth would they do this, if the X1 looks like the IGN video?????

I am guessing something not quite right about IGN's video.....

Yeah I don't think the IGN videos are accurate, they can't be!

To be fair, the games are run on development kits, but having said that, when Dice decided that xbox version will run at a lower setting, its telling that they think its not on par with PS4, at least at current point of time. But who knows in future when they can optimise their tool.

But I learn there is no point in posting any non positive things on XBOX on an essential xbox forum.

Anyway, i made up my mind that I will not get xbox one system at launch, & use that money to get a tablet I wanted for a while. Had they still Day one edition with free Forza or Fifa, i would have preordered. Not getting PS4 also, as there is no titles I am remotely interested at launch. I think personally, had Killzone not been a Sony first party game, few people will even talk abiout it. but its just me.
I do not see much advantages in buying cross gen games, which will be most 3rd party games for PS4 anyway, other than sharper textures & some effects more.

I certaly hope that when the tools for XBOX one have been optimse, so we will not see xbox game with lower res compare to it competitor in any Multiplatform games in future.

Desprite the supposely more powerful PS4, my heart is still with xbox, but I will wait a bit longer before making a more informed decision. For now, til maybe next spring or summer, I will enjoy my backlog of xbox360 games.

Because launch games can come down to the wire, it is difficult to judge the graphics/performance for comparisons. Everything can come in hot.

The XBOX ONE's hardware is different enough that programmers will have to make console specific changes. Don't know if that was the case with AO, or just how it worked out that way.

Lol I feel for people who will be stressing about the One version of games not looking quiet the same. They will be in for a long generation

I still predict the XBOX ONE to edge out PS4 graphically by hardware alone. But both systems are close.

What I do expect will pull XBOX ONE farther ahead is cloud computing. I see it making a big impact.

I am personally surpise that they couldn't put AO in the xbox one version, consider its not even new tech. From someone that does 3D rendering, AO does make a difference,
I do think its just lack of experince with the hardware, & not a persistence issue in future games .

But in the end, Graphics isn't everything, (if not we will all play on mighty PC) & the overall experience may made up the graphical gap, if it does persist over the lifecycle of the generation.
The form factor of the one controller, the haptic trigger, & the much divide Kinect control & voice can eventually make up the difference, & more. Not to mention cloud & delicated servers.

It would of course be best had MS bite the bullet & release the system with comparable spec as Sony, instead of having to squeeze every last juice via softeware. Then it will be absolutely not reason to get a PS4 (other than some exclusives)

Word of mouth and the $100 difference will be a huge blow to the One. I think it will sell great and certainly not be a flop like the Wii U but I think the days of Xbox dominating the US sales charts are over. Not a big deal to me but some will be salty about it, the One will still get good games.

Let's turn the heat down a bit. If you're very much interested in comparing BF4 on X1 and PS4, there is a thread for that in multiplatform.

Let's keep the topic in here on-topic.
