The Xbox One Thread

I would actually like to second this PV. Can we have a thread specifically created for rumors, BS, FUD, the X1 apocalypse, delusions of grandeur etc? That way it would make things easier to instead choose to go into a thread and know what to expect, versus going into a certain thread and finding baseless FUD by accident. Thats annoying...o_O
We have a resolution thread and we have a Sony/whatever gimping reviews thread.

Ohh, just seen the dashboard video on youtube. I have to say the idea of the XBO being the control center of my livingroom for all my entertainment for TV, movies, music and gaming could be really awesome. I’m very interested in the idea of being able to watch TV and then at a moments notice seamlessly boot-up a game to start playing. Heck, I may even be able to control the PS4 through the XBO which is freaky.

Resolution isn't king of gaming for sure... it's all in art direction, texturing, performance as well. Res is only part of the whole picture

Exactly, there were Wii games this generation running on SD that looked better than some HD games on other consoles.

Just saw the thread about kinect sports rivals preseason being free at launch. That is awesome and a definite incentive for those to at least try out this new kinect.

However, with this good news you can bet dollars to doughnuts there will be another "rumor" hitting the rounds soon about another horrible problem with the xbox one. Any bets on what it is? My money is on kinect "issues."

is it free in the states

I think you guys are missing the critical points about the resolution. Its not mainly about if you can tell the difference, or if you have a TV take can make a difference.

With all else equal, & you have a TV capable, why would you want to to run a game with a lower resolution, when you have a choice of a higher resolution one.

Even more critical, is that a sign that one system is clearly better than the other? By making your game 720p when the other other is able to run at 1080p, surely means the same game have problem running at same resolution.

Of course there can be valid reasons, like the tools on one system are not yet optimise, and whatsoever. But to bring up the concern about the power difference is very valid.

I know this is at its core an XBOX site, but I feel that many people here just cannot seems to accept that there is a possibility, & a reasonable one, that your system of choice is the inferior one, as far as performance, maybe not much, but it exist. It could means lower resolution in some games, blurrier textures, less effects, or even more choppy framerates in others. Remember Skyrim on PS3. Is it not a valid point to want a more stable, maybe better looking version?

Some forumers bring up these very valid concerns, but are bring down by others, or brushed away. Maybe in the end, MS can bring the tools up to a level comparable with PS4, but that is a '?' mark.

If people say, yeah, maybe in the end, some games on XBOX will still run at lower resolution, or less pretty compare to PS4. Its not an issue for me, I can live with XBOX being less powerful, but I prefer XBOX for game due to so & so.

This is a fair statement, but to make it sound like there is no performance difference to produce 1080p vs 720p is just being bias in my opinion.

If I get an xbox, of course I hope the performance is as good as PS4, but at least, I am mentality prepare to get the 'inferor' version of a game, performance wise. If that is not the case, I will however not spend time arguing with people about inferior visuals, or say that I have poor eyesight, so I cannot tell them apart.

In a nutshell, its a fair point to say differences in resolutions doesn't matter to you, but its another thing to deny that there might be a performance difference between the system. But until then, I will wait for official reply from MS, or the developers.

As a matter of fact Xbox One is not inferior to Playstation 4. We've had too many documents to confirm that both are just the same, or at least the difference will be minimal. But we also have some words about the problem with early development tool, and that can make some games on the console run a little more blurry than on PS4. But the difference is not going to be huge because you are not comparing the two version side-by-side and you will forget the difference when you are deep into the game. It's that simple. I think this much is unchangeable, and I hope everyone simply get over this.

Starseeker, maybe you should just keep your head in the clouds mate. :D

But I'm going to make you an offer you can't refuse: post one video, just ONE that proves anything you've stated in your entire post, and I will personally not only agree with you, I will BUY you the very game that you post in which CLEARLY identifies and solidifies the Ps4 is more powerful than X1. I'm serious mate.

Here's your chance to back up your claim, and to get a free game out of it! You in or out? :)

He will duck out of that with the "we can't compare cross plat games because the lowest common denominator, X1, will pull the PS4 version down"... so like this gen when the 360 multi plats looked better nearly across the board, they resort back to exclusives to prove graphical prowess.

This is not a bad idea, we have have a forum for this, Gamespot System Wars forum for all the fanboy. Sometimes if you want to enjoy your meal, you've got to leave something for the flies.

I'm hearing *crickets* o_O

Now if he cant make this happen, I'm just going to assume he's just been told what to believe (and doing so quite admirably I might add...) versus trusting what he sees for himself. If he can live with that about himself, fine. But as for me, I may have to put him on ignore because its just more FUD spread around and a more than worthy endorsement towards the Hive mind/Sony groupies we've seen and heard from across the internet. Best of luck.

Just as the Xbox1 BF4 video comes out ANOTHER bad Xbox rumour comes out over twitter in regards to the snap and esram ............. pathetic really

The only thing it indicates is what has been reported by people like Arthur (polygon). That it was tool related not a system problem. But, whatever, keep the FUD train rolling.

Nope. They are much worse than that. Latest rumors say that snap features are causing crashes, that the ESRAM will be a lifeling bottleneck and that the next generation version of PSN is now ahead of this generation's version of Live. I hope they don't prove out. The industry needs healthy competition. If the situation is true it is bad for MS but even worse for gamers.

You realize it would be the only forum anyone looked at if you did that. Seems like all everyone wants to do these days is console war.
