I know this is old, but I actually did sell my my old Xbox One with Kinect before buying the S.It's just what they feel needs to happen unfortunately. Gamers spoke and the majority doesn't care about Kinect. If we're being realistic, Kinect is where the Xbox brand started to fall off. It sucks people have to be so close minded but it is what it is.
I think i'm probably just going to sell my Kinect when i upgrade to the One S. The only thing i really use it for anymore is recording clips and that can easily be done with the controller. It had a good run, great device but it's time to move on.
You didnt lose voice control. "Hey Cortana"I know this is old, but I actually did sell my my old Xbox One with Kinect before buying the S.
I see no more point in it, currently. I guess I kind of miss voice control, but it wasn't that big a deal. I still stand by what I said about MS being so all or nothing. They got criticized for basically forcing devs to support it, but then they completely abandoned it. It's kind of a strange way that they do business... Especially since it was the most successful consumer electronics launch ever. They could have just moderately supported it and kept that going indefinitely. They also should have had a single version for Xbox and PC. It would have felt more natural that way. I guess, at least they aren't making the VR headsets, cuz I don't really trust them with peripheral support now.
You have to have the headset on, right? I just picked up a headset recently. Haven't tried it for that. You didnt lose voice control. "Hey Cortana"
Cortana is much better than the old oneYou have to have the headset on, right? I just picked up a headset recently. Haven't tried it for that.
Since they put the ir blaster in the S, I wonder why they didn't just put mics on the sides of the console or even better, they should have just put a mic in the new controller. I have an Xfinity X1 box, and the voice recognition on the remote is top notch. It understands me way better than Kinect did. It's probably mostly because you speak right into it.
For multiplatforms? Unless they offer great couch multiplayer, yes I'm into graphics. It is something I work in daily. But I don't mind it that much for exclusives or stylish games. For instance my main gaming platform was the Wii U for most of the time, which you don't get for graphics alone I might add.Sounds like you're a graphics whore, so just stick to your PC.
That's cool, as snap just slowed everything down for me. I did like that you could just pick up were you left off, but it wasn't worth it half the time. That and the counter-intuitive nature of it all.The install times vary greatly on the XB1 currently, as it seems everything is installed from the web, even when your "installing" from disc. As of the latest dashboard update the OS is really quick, it used to plod along in the former version, especially so when using snap and returning to the home screen. Snap is also a thing of the past now too, which I lament as I actually liked snap. It was nice to be able to open game related apps without having to close out the game in progress.

I'm sorry you're losing a feature you enjoy though. But the install times didn't improve then, oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait. Not getting a Switch until this craze dies down and there are more couch multiplayer games for it .
Thanks for the info. And I really hope MS will find a way to make these installs faster.
All games are a half hour install or less for me on the Xbox One.
Well my reason of interest is also couch multi player, something I usually did on Nintendo games. But the Switch will mostly be a handheld buy for me once the price goes down slightly here in Norway, and there are more games out for it. As it is now it is far too expensive to justify the limited game selection that it has.Well I'm full digital on Xbox so can't help you there. If you mainly PC then that is probably your best bet for MS exclusives as long as they continue the Play Anywhere deal. As for multiplatforms the Scorpio should without a doubt be the best looking. And finally the most recent OS update has made the system so much better. That has been one of my biggest issues with the Xbox One and they have finally fixed it. I would imagine the Scorpio would have the same OS layout but who knows.
Ouch! It seems that install times really is something MS should work on then. Maybe sell their games on USB sticks to speed up "time to play"? More of a joke than a suggestion, really.FM6 took over 45 minutes for me while being offline.
Anyone know how large the recent OS update is? Over 1GB?
Cortana is much better than the old one
Cortana doesn't listen to my kids at all- on my profile, at least. It's funny when they try to lower their voices to get it to work, lol...Thankfully she hasn't picked up my six year old's "hey katana, play" so we can still stop youtube videos to make him eat or go to the bathroom or in theory, go to bed.
