Titanfall 2 MP tech test 8/19

The game isn't bad, but it is not Titanfall.

I understand their reasoning to attract more players.

These are the thing I think would really help this game:

If the maps aren't going to be designed around wall running, the grapple hook needs to be standard for all players. I would also say make the grapple hook faster.

The Titans should be placed back on a timer and the timer should finish with kills like the first.

The dash on the Titans need to recharge faster.

Titans can be indivualized based on chassis, but there should still be custom loadouts

I think that would help a lot in this game.

I don't think that would matter. I don't see a lot of gamers (esp. casuals) using the grapple hook feature to its fullest. I bet most people won't use it once.

Yes and no. I understand more titans = more like titanfall, but having a timer means everyone gets probably 2 free titans per game. The current state is "you need to earn it". I can go either way, but I don't mind needing to earn it. Why should a guy sitting at the back of the map sniping get free titans every 3 minutes?

The dash on the Titans need to recharge faster.
Didn't really notice or test it out. But will look into it next time I play

Agreed. Not sure why it's that hard to allow gamers full customization for both soldier and titan. There probably was some imbalance issues they saw where people were customizing titans a certain way leading to overpowered kits. So they dumbed it down so gamers have to use their set ups.

I put in another couple hours earlier. I admittedly had fun and see the beta in a slightly better light. I felt the SMG was the power base weapon in the first one. Play fast, charge kills, and get your ammo out first. That formula has change for this one. Weapons with more range look like the best ones. I had the some fun with the new tactical ability to create a illusion. I have sent that it to draw fire then countered off of that. Looking at upgrade trees STIM and invisible are back. See what happens with the full game and while the camping is a massive turnoff maybe it just needs time to grow.

Most of the deaths on killcam for me were either snipers, getting killed by a titan or someone using the default AR 201 (and many with the blue optics). Don't remember anyone using an SMG or LMG.

Since the game has 3-4 bullet kills and ARs have good accuracy.... I used the Spitfire LMG and it's pretty good too..... this game in its current state will be a very med/long range type of game. Lots of ARs and snipers.

That can change though. If the other maps have tighter quarters, more buildings and walls, then the gameplay can then skew to more run and gun SMG gunplay.

We'll have to see what the other 10 maps are like.

I've been running with the CAR and doing damn good with it.

They also have to change the evacuations. Not all in the first one were balanced but generally they gave you some cover to defend and hopefully get the hell out. These so far are in open spaces. That part was always a cool end game in the first one. Even when the team gets demolished running to escape while the victors looked to hammer home a victory was a game with the game.

When I played last night I switched back and forth between AR 201 and Spitfire LMG. The LMG is surprisingly good. Dumb thing is that TF2 is supposed to be a futuristic shooter, yet the LMG plays exactly the same as an LMG in a CoD game. You'd think you were playing MW2.

Just popped in TF1. Soo damn good tho. Downloading TF2 right now. Just getting to it.
Hopefully you get in.

I played a few matches, then a pop up showed up saying they changed hardpoint a bit to make it have easier to get titans. Since that pop up box, I can't get into any matches. Even tried quitting the game and reloading. Nothing. It hangs at the lobby saying.... "creating matches".... but never gets me into a game. I'll try again tonight.

Beast mode. 17 kills in Bounty Hunt.

Most of the starting gear is good enough... pulse knife, AR 201, LMG Spitfire. Add in some basic attachments like more ammo and you should be able to do decent.

Gravity Star isn't bad in close quarters or tossed at AI grunts. Toss it at a fresh batch of grunts and watch them twirl like an idiotic tornado.

For boosts, Amped is better than Spiders. Been killed by spiders I think only once.

At 500 credits is the Invisible mode. I've only got about 200.

That will be a key perk.

Jesus christ people at Titanfall 2 forums are whining like f***ing children because they're no longer guaranteed a Titan in a match now. I've had no problem getting at least three or four in a match.

I get about 2 per game, which probably isn't much different than TF1. I'm always a slow paced gamer in shooters and if I can pull off about 2 per game, then any run and gunner should get 3 just due to sheer number of kills and objective caps they'd get over me. I never got a ton of kills in TF, but never died a lot either.

This new "earn a titan" rewards run and gunners the most as more aggressive play = easier to get a titan. And it's not like CoD where it's killstreaks. A gamer can kill, die, kill, die and it still amps up the titan meter.

So I can't see how anyone can complain and consistently get 0 or 1 titan per match. If they are it means they are sitting at the back of the map doing nothing, but the occasional snipe kill.

I agree with gamers that the game does feel a bit slow for a TF game. If I wanted this kind of pacing with jet pack jumping, I'd keep play BO 3. if Respawn can boost up the foot speed maybe 20%, it would feel more like TF1.

The 2 maps aren't suited to TF either. Too open and too many snipers, but then again we haven't seen all the maps.

But overall, a very polished game so far..... ignoring the fact MP lobbies are messed up.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. I have complaints, but I'm ruling some of them out because this build is two months old. My main complaint is the same I had with TF1... lack of customization. It's better here but still way behind current standards of COD and BF.

Pilot v pilot is the best mode.
I'd say Bounty > Pilots > Hardpoint

Bounty. A mix of TDM, but uses $$$ instead of kills. Having a bank to deposit adds a new gameplay nuance and random AI bounties is cool

Pilots. Classic 8 vs 8 TDM. No titans allowed

Hardpoint. Maps too big for this mode. A, B, C points and teams are 6 vs 6 I think. Lots of running around from point to point as the maps are ginormous. No AI grunts either, so it makes the map feel empty

Played about two matches so far. Not sure how I feel about it thusfar. It definitely seems slower - not so bad though. The intimidation factor with Titans is no longer there. I loved that feeling when an enemy Titan lands right in front of you, or you turn a corner and there's one standing right there. HOT DAMN! Now......that s*** is gone. WTF?

Killing off the bots is a big mistake in my opinion. They definitely added a lot more to the atmosphere of all out war. Now that they arent there any more, TF2 feels more like a CoD or Blops clone. I immediately went back to TF1 to get that frantic-all out-kill or be killed feeling again. Its jut not there with this one so far....

With TF2 aiming for the CoD crowd, safe to say there isn't much point buying both TF2 and CoD.... and besides both games come out a week apart. I'm skipping CoD this year. TF2 feels like BO3, but has mechs and is something different.

Well the TF2 forums are lit up with players demanding changes be made. Even asking for the game be delayed. Respawn says they're listening.

I'm not sure why it is hard to believe that fans would be upset with what they consider major changes.
I don't have a problem with them but I honestly was never that into Titanfall. I'm more into the Battkefield games.

I have gone from hating it to bits to quite liking it in 48 hours. I am still not going for a pre-order and will opt for the 10 hour EA Access first to see what else it offers.
They have a lot of work to do though. Loads of lag on the X1

Listening and acting are very different things.

I like TF2. I think it is better than TF1.

TF1 was extremely simple in all regards...but TF2 adds a little complexity.

Yeah. I think that Twitter from Vince was to crazy the sheer amount of negative feedback that's flowing in. I wonder if they're surprised with the amount of it? There were always going to be some complaints when you change a couple of mechanics but they are really drowning in it now. It's not a bad thing either. I think the game is moving in the wrong direction and from the looks of it the majority of people seem to think the same.

Completely disagree. This is more like COD and less like Titanfall. There is far less skill needed in this now with the mechanic changes.

I like TF2 and will stick to my pre-order.... $80 down to $50!

It surely is more CoD-ish. Less TTK, titans are less effective than TF1, and slower foot speed/less parkour moving.

Best to think of TF2 as: Black Ops 3 + mechs + more sci-fi setting.

If you matched the setting, and took away the mechs, I'd swear this game could be BO 3's twin sister.

I'll summarize it here, TF2 vs BO3:

Maps and modes
- TF2's other maps and modes are unknown. So far, 2 large maps and 3 modes
- CoD has lots of maps, maps are generally medium sized, lots of modes

What feels the same as BO3
- TTK (time to kill)... about 3-4 bullets with a non-sniper gun. TF1 was probably 5-7 bullets
- Foot speed
- Unlimited sprint (in TF games you can set it to "sprint always on")
- Super slide
- Jet pack jumping
- Gun play (both feel and generally low recoil/good long range accuracy)
- Both games (based on TF2's 2 maps) have limited wallrunning... both opportunity and people actually using it
- Games are 6 vs 6 or 8 vs 8 (pilots)... so kind of the same number of human gamers per match
- Matches have a 10 minute max
- Earn credits, buy attachments/perks/call signs etc...

What makes TF2 different
- Mechs
- More futuristic setting with bolder colours
- Going by the demo, probably much less customizing of character, weapons, attachments
- Grapple hook
- No destruction of basic cover, no bullet penetration of cover. Like old school shooters, you have to hit the enemy directly
- No killstreaks/scorestreaks
- TF2 has lots if snipers in these 2 big maps. I don't remember any CoD having this many since maybe MW2
- You can make a "Network". Add gamers to your group, invite them to a match, and make a clan tag for all

PV is a Call of Duty dude bro. If that's is Respawn's target audience when we can bitch all we want about how T2 lost its soul and Vince and Company will likely have a huge hit on their hands.
