Uncharted 4

Forza isn't that big of a big deal, racing games don't move many consoles and it remains to be seen if both Halo and TR make it out on time, a delay for one of them wouldn't surprise me.

Halo getting delayed would be strange. The beta was done many months before late 2015; It should definitely be out on time.

Tomb Raider should definitely come out on time based on the timed exclusivity deal. MS more than likely had to pay more money due to the game being set for the Holiday season (more potential sales during that period = more $$$). MS would probably get some money back if the game had to get delayed. Doubt that will happen.
__________

Anyway, good third party support is enough to support a console for the Holiday season but big franchise exclusives have a history of helping people to make a push to a new console.

For example, I would say it's easier for many to wait to buy a console during a year in which that console has nothing but the usual yearly multiplats for the Holiday lineup -vs.- a year in which a console has the yearly multiplats on top of one or two exclusive AAA games from very popular series that get entries every 2-3 years.

The latter helps some people to go from "I'll just wait to buy the console" -to- "I need to get this console this year!". Hence why the delay of Uncharted 4 is pretty big. The PS4 will still do well but some who were planning to get a PS4 this year are now waiting until 2016 to do so. Uncharted 4 would have definitely been the system's big exclusive for this year so it's a pretty big blow. It would be similar to Halo 5 getting delayed (for Xbox One).

I keep having to tell myself sony has retail exclusives, that baseball game and the puzzle game I keep forgetting.

The Order, Bloodborne, MLB, Until Dawn and a couple of others so they do have quite a few for this year just none of their established big hitters like GOW or Uncharted. People keep bringing up rumors of remastered collections for both of those series being possibly announced at E3 and being released this holiday but I doubt that's true.

I'm fine with making the game better, but when its your only AAA in the fall and your going against Halo, TR, and Forza its confusing. I know they won't have anything else either because sony always lets the cat out of the bag early.

It would be much worse for them in the long run putting out a half assed Uncharted. As big as it is they know it won't make or break them.

Could they announce else something for the fall? Yeah. Something big? Not likely.

No chance. Not enough time.

Agreed. I'm hearing Morpheus will be the big push at E3, and its functionality with UC4 might be one of the reasons for the delay.
They need a killer app to push Morpheus and justify the cost, and if they do it right, they might have it in UC4.
But barring any currently unannounced surprises/delays, I think Sony just handed the holiday to MS, and possibly Nintendo.

I don't see how UC would work with morpheus, VR doesn't seem like it'd be worth doing in a 3rd person game. This is ND's first game made from the ground up for the new hardware, TLOU wasn't released all that long ago and most of the staff was working on that, when they finished the PS3 version some of the staff had to work on the PS4 remaster so they haven't really had all of ND working on UC for all that long. I never believed it'd be out this fall, I hoped it would be but I never believed it based on the short dev time and ND sounding like they are being more ambitious with this game than previous UC titles.

Only way that happens is if they had something they were holding back as a surprise, otherwise they could do what MS did with TR and buy timed exclusivity on MGS or something but otherwise they'll probably just stick with what they have like last year and that seemed to work out pretty well for them.

No mans Sky seems like more a killer app for morpheus than uncharted would be. Gran Turismo seems to be too. Those sort of games offer the type of experience that can make VR shine and really add a new depth to the atmosphere and feel of the games.

I am not sure VR would work all to well with a third person action & adventure game. Seems far more suited to first person experiences.

Yep, any line up that has a Godzilla game saves the day, lol.
Plus, we have 3 ports, no line up is complete without ports.
Plus, we a have flop in the Order, and a predominately American game in MLB.
Plus, as best I can tell, Ratchet & Clank is a port of sorts. Not actually a new game, more like a re-imagining of the Original.

I stop reading right there as this statement is completely ridiculous. You never even played the game, let alone seen it. So how would you know: a movie? Spider-Man has had plenty of them, and they don't follow the movie directly.

But, if what you say is true, what dose that make Halo or all the Call of Duty games? I'm just wondering...

Ridiculous, but actually true.

What does that Make Halo and COD? Crap.

What are, Halo & COD or Godzilla & MLB? Not that it matters as sales wasn't even the discussion. The line-up or poor state of it was.

Ok..... If this is a poor line up while you also agree that the others i mentioned are poor as well -- if what you say is true, then the other line ups that compare to it are no different. Therefore, there is no real advantage than the year prior.

You might as well close up shop then.

lolz. What on earth makes this PS4 line-up equal to the others for the rest of the year? Get a grip son.

I think you're the one that needs the grip as it was you that made the ridiculous statement of R&C being a port as well as Halo and COD, but then turn around and telling me whose line up is poorer than who. It seems to me, the line up is no different from last year, if what you say is true, then.

Where did I say Halo and COD were ports? I said they were crap. I didn't even say R&C was a port. I said it is a port of sorts. It isn't really a new game, it is the original game re-imagined. How much will have changed remains to be seen.

Then you never should have answered my question if you cannot distinguish what is being asked.

You never even played the game, let alone seen it. All you've done is created your own scenarios. You are no more informed than anyone else. So for you to set there and draw that ridiculous assumption and pass it off as a proven fact puts you dead in the spotlight to get a number of important questions hurled at you. And by you not being able to thoroughly support them not only weakens your argument, but drives a questionable intention. And as it stands, I don't think I am very convinced.

lolz.

How does "As far as I can tell" try to paint something as fact.

Let's keep the subject on the Uncharted4 delay, or I'll need to close the thread. We already have a Game Lineup thread.

Technically, I am on topic. I am discussing the detrimental effect this delay has on the later year line-up

And I agree with that. I think most people understand that this leaves Sony in a weaker position this holiday.

I just don't think we need to get into a big discussion about the quality of the lineup, especially as it compares to the X1's. We've got a nasty little thread for that already.

Fair enough.

Fair enough Andy.

I personally think the delay, although a little bad, is going to resort to A LOT of good. ND has never failed to deliver. So its no question that the game is going to be a big hit. Personally, I'm equally eager to see these guys achieve the unthinkable, at least based on the headlines.

I was already going to play Tomb Raider this fall, so the Uncharted delay suits me just fine. I wouldn't even mind if they pushed it back further.

LoL! If that happened, the doors will be blown off the hinges. One thing you should never do is underestimate ND. By giving these guys time, all you're doing is giving them a loaded weapon.

I don't know if you remembered this footage before, but just think if these guys had enough horsepower, what they could have done:

http://nd.images.s3.amazonaws.com/timeline/big_demo.mp4

So the delay is not something i would say is bad, really. For these guys, it is definitely good, and I think you can only be a fool to underestimate them.

Just because you give ND time to make a game doesn't mean it's going to magically end up being the "god game of the world". Oftentimes a game that gets delayed too long could spell disaster when it's finally released. We don't know why games get delayed but the fact remains that "something not right" caused it. If you get too many cooks in the kitchen, your meal can be spoiled.
