What movies have you seen recently?

He's saying it's a DC Universe movie, not a Marvel movie.

And welcome to the forums! You're member 1000!!!!!

Lol, thanks man. I guess both companies have blended into one in my brain at this point.

Oh and 1,000 is a pretty intimidating number. I hope the expectations of me are low. I frequently misspell words and my takes are often luke warm. Anyway...

Here's to 1,000 more!

Wonder Woman - 8/10 I really liked it. Gal Gadot is great as WW and damn is she fine! First two acts are well done (the no mans land scene was awesome), the 3rd act could have been better. Definitely the best out of the new DC films.

Wonder Woman - Can't. give a rating. I enjoyed it up until that awful ending. The battle was crap and OMG at the horrible, cliche, forced scene where she finally reaches her potential.

Yeah that last act was not as good as the rest of the movie. Wtf were they thinking.

I haveno idea. The action scenes up to that point were great...short but great. That final showdown should have been epic, but ended up being a terrible Superman v Zod copy.

The Golden Compass: I can't believe this wasn't the beginning of a massive series! I love it so much!

After googling about it, turns out there's a bunch of church outrage about the subject matter. Rediculous.

The costuming/hair/make up is spectacular, and the effects make Harry Potter weep.

Such a pitty.

Never saw it, but read the book and hear good things about the movie. I forget what the controversy was. Something... something occult?

I really wonder if this is part of the appeal of Batman. So many heroes just fight the evil equivalent of themselves.
Batman essentially does the samething though. We saw in superman v Batman how outmatched he is when fighting something greater than a man.

But god v god isn't the issue with WW. The issue is lack of creativity when pitting such beings against each other.

Bvs wasn't typical is what I meant. He fights random characters like Joker or Scarecrow that are nothing like him.

Much like the books, it's pretty easy to replace "The Magisterium" with "church" and robbing people of freedom of choice, and demonizing their souls.

Apparently the movie was picketed at some cinemas. Cray.

Watch the movie. It's like the first Harry Potter movie, but cracked out. The kid actors a tad flakey, and you can kinda tell they had to make major edits to the movie.

No it wasn't typical, but it shows just how unsuper Batman really is.

I wouldn't call Joker and Scarecrow random characters either...or atleast no more so than the God of War. Maybe I am just missing your point entirely, if so I apologize, but I see no real difference in the enemy one hero faces compared to another...in general atleast.

Brimstone: 7/10

Not bad...but basically a dark movie about how terrible women had it during early days of American society. Think The Scarlet Letter, but far more brutal.

The Belko Experiment: ooooh! So THATS where they've been storing all the used up D-List actors.

A fun, stupid movie. I liked the bits where their heads popped.

wonder woman - great movie, some excellent action scenes. comedy was abit forced (that assistant lady was too much). loved the some of the dialog regarding humanity but also some cheesy dialogue too

8.5/10

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - 8/10 I took my oldest son to see this today. Was a fun movie I enjoyed it. The first movie was better.

Spotlight: after watching this, I think we can all agree on one thing...

Journalists need to mind their own business.

King Arthur:Legend of the Sword - enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. Very much a fantasy film rather than more realistic like the Clive Owen, Kiera Knightly version. I would say it is kind of a mix between Lord of the Rings & Clash of the Titans with a liitle of Guy Pearce's Lock Stock signature dialogue/banter. My biggest gripe would be that the language is far too 2017.

The Mummy - s***. Give me the Brendan Fraiser & Rachel Weisz versionover this Tom Cruise one

Okja: WTF is Netflix doing? It's like everything they produce is infusing everything that you love, hold dear to you, or is tasty, with stupid levels of guilt! I LOVE BACON! But now I'll just think of Okja.

Realistically, this movie is kinda s***, but its kinda good. The first 15 minutes, and the last 20 are beautiful.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Tilda Swinton give performances that would be possibly great, under other directors, but they just seem overtly pedestrian. They're both brilliant character actors. And the characters they're playing, are 100% cheese.

And I hate hearing an Aussie accent in a movie like this. It just sounds tacky.

In saying that, I'd LOVE to see a fan edit made, turning it into a 30 minute silent film. I watched the first 10 minutes without subtitles and it was beautiful.

Drowning Mona: Danny DiVito's best movie. Bette Midler, Will Farrel, Casey Affleck, Neve Campbell and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The movie is absolute Awesomesauce. It's a camp and trashy "Who dunnit?" movie, where the victim had no redeeming qualities at all. I really hope it eventually becomes a cult classic like Clue.

Okja: 4/10
It's like an episode of Captain Planet.

Alien: Covenant: 7/10
Entertaining to Alien fans, but simplifies the whole origin of the Xenomorph species too much, IMO. The build-up of the Engineer race in Prometheus was not met with a strong enough follow-up here.

2:22 (yes, this is the title of the movie)
3/10 Started interesting but the ending proved that the movie was a waste of time.

Get Out - 9/10 one of the better thrillers I've seen in awhile it was really well done.

Life - 7/10 I thought it was pretty good and like how they did the alien. Maybe get to see what happens next in a sequel.

The Circle

5/10
Cool concept but it's as if the movie lost its entire identity during the finale. This completely ruined the movie.

Hacksaw Ridge
9/10

I had avoided watching this movie because I didn't want to cry. Well I finally watched it and cried. And as hokey as it sounds, I'd love to see Call of Duty have a homage to the guy the movie is based on. Truly powerful movie.
