What movies have you seen recently?

Baby Driver - 8/10

Great action, characters, and story. Fully enjoyed it and would recommend.

Despicable Me 3: My god! 3 directors and a piece of crap. Save your money.

Rogue One:

ok, pretty good, not bad, meh, star wars, must watch.

Trainspotting 2:

oh that was actually pretty good, watched it twice. love you renton! you do you and i'll do you too cool?

Babadook: why the f*** is this suddenly so popular!?

I mean, it's an awesome movie, but it's HUGE with the gays now. Every drag queen seemingly has a Babadook costume.

Edit* lol, nevermind, Netflix listed it as a "gay documentary" or something mistakingly, and the gays snatched it.

Amazingly creepy movie though.

Ba-ba...DOOK!

John Wick 2 - 9/10 I loved it. They have done a awesome job on the first two movies. Great action and just brutal. Makes you believe this man is a badass. I hope the final film goes out with a bang. Liked the ending to this gets you pumped for the last one. Was cool seeing Keanu and Fishburne on screen again.

A Cure For Wellness - 6/10 I thought it looked great and some of it was decent. I just felt it was too long and was just ready for it to be over by the end.

John Wick 2 was awesome. Reminds me of Kill Bill, but with guns. They're the best movies Keanu Reeves has ever done since the Matrix.

The Mummy (Tom Cruise): 4/10
Interesting premise, but ended up being boringly predictable. Overall a boring flick, despite the high number of action sequences.

Transformers The Last Knight - 5/10

The presentation from scene to scene is absurd. It's as if they took every disaster and sci fi movie and jumbled them together in the most random way possible. This movie is nonsensical and at time you're wondering what the hell you're looking at. That said, underneath all of the layers of chaos, there's a semblance of a story that advances the series along.

War For The Planet Of The Apes - 9/10 I thought it was a great ending and this has been a damn good trilogy of films. I loved them. They did a great job bringing the Apes to life in these films and props to Andy Serkis as always. Looking forward to what Reeves can do with Batman.

Overboard: 10/10 possibly the greatest movie ever. I have this fantasy, where I bump into Goldie Hawn, and she instantly falls in love with me, and I become her gay bff, and she insists I have lunch with her, Diane Keaton and Bette Midler all the time, and then we joke about all the silly things that Kurt Russell does (like when he leaves his shoes lying around the house!) And then Kate Hudson comes and joins us for cucumber sandwiches and mimosas.

Silence 8/10

The dialogue and cultural portrayal was ripping and riveting. Some great acting from the entire cast. Some scenes powerfully moving, but only if you're a Christian, I suppose.

War for the Planet of the Apes - 9/10.

I hadn't seen the previous films because I actually though they were continuations of that Mark Walberg horrific dud that came out 15+ years ago. When I found out they weren't I binge watched Rise and Dawn and then off to the movies. Dawn was the worst of the 3 and this new was fantastic. It all looks like an obvious setup to now remake the original properly....can't wait!

They're not?

I've avoided them because of how s*** that Mark Wahlberg one was.

I tend to hate movies with too much CGI too.

I'm gonna download Rise and give it a go. They really need to work on the names for the movies though. They're so long winded.

While Dawn was the weakest, it was still pretty good. I haven't seen a movie since Furious, I believe. I'm slacking this summer and that's not normal for me. I've just been too buys.

Dunkirk 8/10
Almost like a documentary, this film manages to seem incredibly realistic (I know it's based on the historical retreat/evacuation during WWII), while being framed by a cinematic tale of survival.

Lots of very interesting film making and editing techniques made this movie a joy to bite into.

Thematically, there are lots of textures and layers - it'll take some time to digest them.

Rogue One Star Wars
f***ing s***e. Master switch? Really?
Disney has butchered Star Wars with its crappy writing.
The only redeeming things in this film, were the Vader scene at very end and the fact that they werent scared to kill a ton of the good guys.

Rating as a Star Wars movie: 3/10
Rating as a movie overall: 6/10

I liked it a lot more than you did.

The Circle: I don't know. I think I liked it?

It felt like a movie made around a topic that came up during a dinner-party conversation.

And they really need to stop forcing Emma Watson into an American accent. Her 'r's are all over the place. It's painful. So stop trying to make 'Fetch' happen!

The most redeeming thing about it was that it is 10x better than the other six.

I really enjoyed that movie.

The overall plot was good but I thought the dialog was ridiculous in a number of scenes.
I also found the Tarkin CGI very distracting because it just didnt look natural enough.
Granted that was a difficult task.
Just my opinion.
