What movies have you seen recently?

The Greatest Showman - 7/10 I’ve never been big on musicals. My sister came to town and rented this for the whole family to watch (she’s been raving about it) I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It was a good movie, the songs were very catchy.... and like always Jackman is a god.

I still think it’s a little silly watching a film and someone all of a sudden breaks out in song/dance lol.

Only musical I ever watched and enjoyed was Grease 1 & 2.

Avengers Infinity War - 9/10 I was worried it would be tough to cram this many actors/characters into one film and make a good flowing story. They did a great job pulling all this together, it really pays off for fans of the MCU films as a whole. Thanos was a damn good villain. Some good action and a few emotional scenes. I can’t wait to watch this again on home release.

Don't think I ever saw it, so couldn't say.

Heh I just got to thinking how this movie also had the late Carrie Fisher going a bit psycho at her dead beat boyfriend Jake Blues.

Personally, I really wished this side of Carrie could have been tapped into for the new Star Wars movies instead of being this worn out sad character pretty much crying on Han's shoulder. f*** that. After all that has happened between Snoke and her son being a piece of s***, I would have be so happy to see a furious Carrie Fisher gun down General Hux.

Yeah I know good guys in Star Wars aren't supposed get mad because something something..... Dark Side, but that would have made that more interesting. I mean she even channeled the Force in the second movie, but I'd rather see General Leia Force Lightning Fry a bunch of troopers or even Phasma which would have been a much better death scene.

I, Tonya - 8/10 Finally got around to renting this. Wasn’t sure what to expect. It was a really good film. Robbie was great, and Janney was definitely deserving of that Oscar. I almost feel sorry for Harding.

Oh and how many times did they say “f***”. Could have been a record lol.

Finally watched Blade Runner for the first time and loved it, great movie! then I watched Blade Runner 2049 and while it's good it's just not as good as the first one but it's still worth seeing.

Also watched Black Panther, good movie but way overhyped just like Wonder Woman was, I think some of it is just people giving in to perceived social pressure. It's a top 10 marvel movie but I can think of about 7 others that I liked better. Almost all of the outdoor green screen scenes looked really fake, pretty but fake.

Yeah! Blade Runner is so good. That atmosphere :surprise:. Blade Runner 2049 was a worthy successor, though.

Makes me want a game version (like all good movies do lol) but an open world GTA meets Blade Runner game would be great, especially with the ability to do HDR in games now. I know "The Last Night" is cyberpunk but the pixel art thing just doesn't convey the look the way a big budget AAA game like that would, who knows maybe the game from CDPR will :)

This idea makes me think of DREDD as well. I'd really love to see an open world Cyberpunk game on that scale.

I think we're gradually seeing 'Legacy' movies come around with old films franchises being revisited. This was attempted with TRON for example. We've seen the meandering reboots of STAR WARS as well as ALIEN.

I think Blade Runner 2049 is so far the best such attempt I've seen at trying to do this kind of thing. It is a solid late sequel.

Yeah, I think my only disappointment with 2049 was that even though it had better special effects it didn't convey the same atmosphere the first one did. The crowds of people, the airship with the video screen, the buildings being used as screens etc, that stuff was used far more sparingly in 2049 and that's unfortunate. I don't think 2049 was bad at all, it just wasn't as good as the original IMO but as I said it's worth seeing for sure.

I think there is a tendency in the FX to have more Holograms strolling around rather than building screens. Ghost in the Shell was way overkill with this.

Not that I minded this one.

Yeah something about this just didn't stand out to me as much as the older movie and the screens, maybe it's because they hardly spent any time in the city in the same way the first one did so this stuff was used sparingly.

Just got out of Deadpool 2

Loved it, definitely no infinity war, Black Panther or Spider-Man, but was it fun, f*** yeah it was! I’m with edge, first one was better but here he’s found his groove.

If I had to compare to a MCU movie it’s the equivalent to Antman, smaller scale, grounded and very personal.

Dude, is it me or was there a big cameo missing?

where was Stan Lee?

8/11 or three out of four stars

Watched my Blu Ray copy of Speed I bought recently. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. It’s crazy how these old films look great on new sets. It’s been many years since I’ve seen this film. It was one of my favorite newer action movies as a teen in the 90’s. In this film universe buses can fly!
