Which 4K HDR TV are you planning to buy for Scorpio or One s?

I'm thinking about getting the sony xbr 900e my question to you guys is I run my xbox soon to be xbox one x and ps4 pro through my receiver which is a Yamaha receiver. I have read that I cant do 4k like that do any of you know if that's true.

If your Yamaha doesnt support 4K,it's true..only workaround if you want the sound from receiver/speakers is to plug an optical cable from your console into your receiver and HDMI from PS4 to TV...problem is you will have to unplug that optical from console to console each time, which is a pain in the ass with the way optical is inserted.

About 6-7 feet away. It's 65", Sammy KS8500 (2016). I've got a sectional, and it has no issues off-angle either (though the "king" spot, ie MY spot, is dead center, lol)!

Of course we get the king spot!:hehe: Same here dead center about 6 feet away. So I just wasn't sure if I would see any benefit to a curved display. I don't care about other people either since this particular living room/bonus room is my dedicated gaming room.

I just feel like with a 32"-48" tv I can keep my eyes centrally located and still see everything on the screen all the time. With the big sets at 55"+ I feel like it slows my reaction time because you sort of have to constantly "scan" the screen a bit, especially with fast paced MP shooters.

I believe earlier in this thread I was all over the lg sj8000/8500. Before that the sony 900e...

This TV tech is moving fast! You blink and they come out with something completely new. It's pretty amazing what you can get for $500 bucks now, like 55" led 4k uhd Samsung's and s***. I don't need to skimp though, and that LG is sexy. It's super thin too, which is all that really matters.

lol, Same, though I feel that 65" is the sweet spot on size for a dedicated room @6ft. I started with 45", then moved to 55", now I'm at 65". I'm now at a point when I don't feel like it needs to be larger. I like the Curve because it has a better feeling of depth to me.

So you feel it just takes some getting used to? As far as the larger size and the curved display.

More of a feeling that each previous size wasn't right. The 65 clicked, And I've always preferred the curve when viewed side by side with the flat screen

Yeah, 55 looks smallish to me now. My next will be a 65 for sure.

I have a 60" tv and for my setting and tv stand, a 60" is perfect.

But some reason there's hardly any 60" anymore. But tons of 55" and 65". I think I might have to downgrade to a 55" as a 65" is too big.

I think my plan is to go 48"- 55" for my game room and then get a nice 65+ for the main living room and put my current tv in the bedroom. Then give the odd tv out (32" Samsung 1080p) to my uncle since he's still rocking my grandparents old 28" set from the 70s. It's so old it was made in the U.S. lol

Then I think I need to go check out some floor models with the curve and see what's up.

As for the size, you never get that feeling I described regarding having to "look around" when using a huge TV up close for gaming? Especially with multiplayer shooters.

Maybe just a tiny tad. I'm not really a competitive player, though I do ok. I'm more for immersion. I don't feel like I'm looking around so much as shifting focus.

IMO and others here and over the web you can't make a costly mistake picking up the TCL P605 or 607. Just $600 (650 for 607) it rivals sets costing 2 to 3x the price. Just got mine today and the picture and blacks are real impressive. Roku TV HDR10 and Dolby vision with low input lag in hdr....

Any other impressions? Got pics? It doesn't look like this set is going on sale this Black Friday.

Very bright to me. I keep it in low power mode and still think it is brighter then my old lcd. The blacks are very deep and I'm in a light controlled room. Black screen with white text there is no light bleeding the rest of the screen is black. Something the lcd couldn't do. Fauxk videos from youtube look outstanding.

Yeah @ $600 I can't see it dropping plus they're selling as fast as they make them.

I'll post some when the X is hooked up

I got the Sammy 65" with curve and don't even think about it being curved anymore. When gaming I'm the king spot 7 feet away and while it's my biggest TV ever I feel like the size is perfect. I could maybe even do 70".

When watching TV late I often move to side position on a couch and have absolutely no viewing angle issues at 40-45 degrees off center. I just looked at 60 degrees off center and it is still completely watchable so I don't get the whole LED viewing angle issues.

Thank you for the impressions...sounds dreamy. Can't wait to hear what you think of HDR. I have yet to see a demo in store that I've been impressed with. Perhaps I don't know what to look for?

I bought a cheap (relatively) Sony 4K set last year for the Pro release (X800D). I've loved it for gaming, standard color levels look great, but the HDR implementation isn't very good, and looks considerably worse than standard def. Didn't care about it much, but I'm now really tempted to upgrade to a nicer set now with better HDR since far more games have it. Hmm.....what to get...

I didn’t want to make a new thread for this, and I’ve seen a few suggestions already, but I’m wondering about speaker and receiver suggestions..?

I don’t have a 4K TV yet, but probably within the year. So in preparation for the eventuality:

My receiver is too old, but I think my speakers are ok..? Do I need new speakers to take advantage of a new receiver? They are about 7 years old, but high quality.

Seems like a lot of you like the Onkyo receiver..?

Wired or wireless on the speakers, if I ‘need’ to get new ones?

Some of my speakers are from 2002 and still knock.
You can keep em if they match up with the watts/ohms of the new receiver.
You MIGHT want to buy some extra ceiling speakers for Atmos/DTS X.....they sound good with a normal 5.1/7.1 setup but even better with ceiling speakers.
Onkyo are lower priced than most but to big for some.
I personally prefer Pioneer(now owned by Onkyo and priced nicely) Denon and Yamaha.

I have an Onkyo 757, 8 HDMI inputs it currently supports HDR10 but is getting a firmware update to also pass through Dolby Vision as well.

For speakers I love Klipsch, they are amazing. I have since upgraded that center channel to the Klipsch RP 450C. It’s a beast.

Some wire duct would clean that up nicely.

Just a reminder for everyone to include any amazing 4K tv deals here. Hopefully they start rolling in soon.

This thread is great but a little overwhelming. I’m not looking for a new TV just yet but I’m trying to educate myself about all the terms when I do.

You have the full array model though...

I don't have an HDR set, but I am happy with my LG 4K monitor.

EDIT: this post kind of sucks and doesn't help the overall point of the thread but I would be happy to suggest my monitor to those interested!

Man, all these 4k TV posts.... tempted to just get one this year.

Been thinking about waiting for HDMI 2.1 tvs so X1X can take advantage of that console version of freesync, but maybe if X1X games are smooth enough, no reason to.

Also, for you guys who know about PC freesync monitors, how does it work?

- Does the monitor automatically do it?... hardware based
- Or does the game have to be programmed somehow to take advantage of the freesync feature?

Pretty important difference, as one is automatically done, while the other requires devs to do more work into there game..... which they might not bother.

CES starts in less than 2 months. Looking forward to what LG is bringing to 2018 OLEDs.
